  1. Not as good as run, but the live version was better than the studio version! :o I fear that the album (appearently) has no decent ballads in it and they had to resort to a cover again... :( This is bad news because Leona needs SO BADLY a big single now. Regardless if Hurt charts and sells well she won't get much from it anyway... not any artistic credit, not any tv/radio play. We all know she is an ace singer, but she needs good songs. It could have been released as a double a-side together with her next single instead imo. I wonder if they changed the lineup of the album in the meantime, since they pushed the release date back... (by the way the studio version of Iris is much better than the studio version of Hurt in her EP)
  2. Coldplay, YES  It may not be their best album but it is one of the best of this years Q4 imo (my 2nd favourite behind Ceremonials) I would love to see Coldplay and Buble toping the charts this week and the following one!

  / -_- (no comment required)

Coldplay and Buble are proper quests. Leona is ok (though not the super-guest). But JLS and One Direction? Oh please!
  5. I hope it flops (it won't). It should do ~70k but I feel it may be as low as no5 behind Bubble, Rihanna, Coldplay and Olly.
  6. I like campaigns to be fair. And it may be a suitable 'campaign-song'. I am neutral for the time being but I guess I could be somehow converted same way I was for RATM.

I would still put my money on Buble (although TT should easily have their regular no1 week with the live album). I hope we can at least get rid of a SuBo no1. Looks like Olly has a shot as well. I don't know about Rihanna... I am annoyed there is too much of her in the charts, radio etc, it's like everyone decided to release their duets with her now that she is hot. I definitely don't miss her and wouldn't be excited about a new album right now. She currently is somewhere between 'flaring fast' and 'extinguishing soon' imo. She should really take some time off. And by the way Rihanna's last single was disappointing. Two possible reasons: (a) the person writing the lyrics died half (not even) way through. (b) the real song is only included the album and what we listened to was a teaser remixed by a random dj.
  8. I don't know... when you put songs in the fridge for too long they may get greasy. Universal was Robbie's only choice imo. It is the most suitable label for him for now. Why am I not surprised that all these sh*t about Gary writing the music and the two of them having finished an album full of classics was proven wrong? It doesn't mean that the two of them are not working together or no progress has been made at all but lets face it, Robbie would take his time with this album.
  9. I think Friday-Sunday sales are higher than Monday-Thursday. So if Rihanna's big lead is on M5's low sales days it doesn't mean she can outsell their total. If we see M5 climbing today and tomorrow this could be the reason. I still believe RiRi is the outsider for the no1. Even if she was heading for a 100k full week she will settle at 70k max this time which is what M5 are expected to do anyway... Why not release next week?
  10. Is is a he or a she? Bollywood's got a leg in XF now? : EDIT: Robbie solo will be there 100% and no need to ask why. (he is having an album out before Xmas) Perhaps they will do a group song special appearence with Gary (and the rest 3) when Progress Live is out too  But Robbie mentoring 1D at the final was totally unnessecary imo... When they choose mentors they should pick sb fitting what the mentored act wants to be like imo. And 1D have nothing to do with Robbie same way Olly had nothing to do with Angels (why didn't they sing something more uptempo?)
  11. Who is Tulsia?
  12. I can somehow see Adele snobbing XF. I mean there is no reason for her to go there NOW. All her songs are big hits but they will be old material by the time XF lives are on really. XF is for new (or new-ish) releases, it is not like her to go and promote songs she released many moths ago just to milk some extra sales! And it would be totally unnecessary too! If she has a new album out in 2013-2014 I bet everyone will be dying to hear it and she will have all kinds of invitations. She should neither rush the new album nor start milking extra sales with pointless XF appearences. She has proven she is not that cheap by refusing to re-release the album :cheer: (plus she is not experienced enough to play the mentor role in the final... Adele is class not junk she should draw the line)
  13. What a great title for a Florence album! Browsing her songs this would be the most suitable one even for 'Lungs'. Her songs are usually violent and sound like rituals, or somekind of strange riot. (with those lovely traditional elements here and there) She never fails to deliever an artistic song  Unsurprisingly I love 'Shake it out' , should be looking for no 8-12.

Nobody cared about JLo @ the American Idol in worldwide basis. It was a strong comeback. It is easily the catchiest song of the year even it hadn't been for Jlo. Also it was not random that it was a duet with PitBul whos been very successful WW with his collaborations lately. Even the second single was a duet with the US-so- beloved-Lil. On the floor would have been a big hit even without Jlo imo. The fact that it was her comeback just made it bigger. About 'Moves Like Jagger', it was an obvious hit imo and it has nothing to do with Idol. An instant, the kind of song that sounds like a hit on the first listen. (even though I do not like it and I would not buy it) If On The Floor and MLJ (or even Born This Way) do not sound like hits what does? Roling in the Deep? Definitely not!!! It is a miracle that a such good (and not that mainstream) song became a huge worldwide hit but it is also rare.

Even with Maroon5 at 50% they should easily sell over 150k though 1D song is cheap but fine... Their singing is what is ruining it imo. I get furious when such songs are electronically modified/distorted  I can understand some pitching when the key is too high or too low, I can even understand all the mixing at a different genre e.g Kesha's electronic rap or the BlackEyedPeas (where it is not only necessary but also beautiful) but at this song WHY? It is neither too fast, nor electronic. And vocally it is not that wide to need up and down adjustments  . Am I the only one that's hearing it? I didn't watch XF last season, but can they really be that bad at singing? I doubt it...
  16. It was Reality Killed the video Star vs JLS... The Greatest Hits 2 even with 1/2 sales of RKTVS made it to no1 if I remember it well. When are JLS releasing? I think it is highly possible that Robbie releases his new solo album in November 2011. We have not got any official announcements but that's like him anyway... not good with timelines  I do not expect JLS will do great with their 3rd album, they should do 50%-75% of their previous one. Olly has done great for a no2 album actually. It must have been a quiet success because I just realised he sold more than 600.000 albums. That is remarkable imo... he managed to get on his feet without the 'official' XF support in contrast with the rest of the acts.

:o I hoped the Kasabian would do a 'Radioactive'. Why are they so low? (btw the problem with your statement is % of what? it is like using meters and feet)

Actually no... It should be said like the difference between the two is 28% of Pixie (what Pixie sells) or of 40% of Sats. These two could be used to find the sales if they report the difference between them ;) I guess we will get some info about the super-heave sales of 1D so we will be able 'estimate' the rest.
  19. 160k... But I do not know how well advertised it is! If promo and advertising is good enough they may get even more but it won't change the total. It is catchy enough to have a decent run though. :(

Illegal downloading is illegal no doubt. But illegal can mean a lot of things. It does not mean 'unnecessary' or 'unjustified' though! Even legally it is not much of a crime and that's why it is so popular. Do you know many 'illegal downloaders' that have been hunted down? 'Illegally downloading' is accused of ''bankrupting music industry'' but: -Would the illegal dowloaders buy the legal one if the illegal was not available? NO! So they do not DECREASE sales (not critically at least). This is the reason it is not happening, do you need proof it is not happening? Single sales (where downloads are most popular) have benefited and are higher than what they used to be! -Does illegal downloading benefit artists appart from the sale of the record itself? (that they would most probably not get either way) YES it does in various ways. (most of them already mentioned) -Does illegal downloading burden legal downloaders will further costs? Absolutely NOT!!! (I do not think I have to explain why, this is the way a competitive market works) On the contrary it benefits them hugely even as a side-effect. Illegal downloading is undoubtedly more powerful than legal and this has and will even further in the future change the rules. This is not a bad thing... music industry needed and update and it needs to stay up to date doesn't it? ;) Let them have a run for their (lots of) money

I think I should add this to the conversation here: You may think albums are cheap here (they could be even cheaper in some cases) but UK is a small country in terms of population compared to the worldwide population. Do you have any ideas how much they cost outside the UK (and probably the US) ? Well last summer I wanted to buy 'Lungs' while I was in Greece.. Despite the fact it was out for months and you could find it (the physical) for 5p or so in the UK it costed 20E!!! And Greece is a member of the E.U. + relatively close to the UK so all the transfer costs are sharply reduced. Imagine living somewhere futher ;) Also it is genrally accepted (and proved by research) that people who heavily download illegaly music have a much greater chance to buy something legaly than people who don't. And that's because they are involved, they are interested in music, it becomes part of their life and they develop favourite genres and artists they would like to support. At least they care. The way artists and companies make money does not depend on record sales anymore. It has to do with advertising, internet, videos etc and most importantly big tours. The fact that you will get 'visits' at your songs that you normally wouldn't and many more people will know about you than the fans who would normally buy your album helps you become more popular. This way you have a greater chance your next one will sell more, you get money through advertising, more people willing to see you on tour etc... Don't overlook all these facts (plus what I already mentioned, adding this 'illegal' strong competiton is a way of balancing the companies greediness)
  22. Is there no ending to our torment? I was always wondering, are these books successful saleswise? I think Robbie has quite a few 'books' written about him... EDIT: A custmers review on the book: ''I was given this book recently as a gift and I am thoroughly enjoying reading it. As more of a fan of Gary than Robbie, it is fascinating to read what exactly was behind their years of feuding and I'm looking forward to reading why Robbie really rejoined Take That. This book is must read for any Gary/Take That or Robbie fan. Infact I have just ordered two copies as gifts for friends. " I hope he is not MY friend! I would hate to open a xmas present and see this :drama:
  23. She should perform both singles B-) From the extracts on the top post I am dying to listen to it! Leona like Massive attack? :o

I think I read somewhere next single is Electric Chapel  You and I is my favourite of the Born This Way era but it is not doing that well for now. Sunday is the official release date isn't it? It looks like it will peak outside the top 15 :(

No you are terribly wrong here. You must see it exactly the other way. They are more expensive than they should be in many cases AND they would be even more expensive if it hadn't been for the pressure of illegal downloads. It is a different form of competition that if forcing them to make their prices more accessible and improve their services/ products. It is a case where an overdose of the medicine could actually kill the patient but this ballance I am talking about is a real one.
