S.E.X. / 73 points After a slight delay we are back in business and the first track from Madonna's latest studio album is the next fortunate casualty. This was a song that I instantly reviled - the abrasive, in-your-face lyrics, the lack of any sort of message or charm and the blatant attempt to shock didn't appeal to me... Until recently when something connected with me. Yes it is still all of the above but I can appreciate how fun it is now and that whispered, seductive middle-8 is the thing of WET-NIGHTMARES. It's a gruesome, yet oddly, alluring song full of sticky grit. Thematically, it would fit very well on 'Erotica' and we need to remember how sexually charged the woman is so let her have this moment of release please. Chopsticks at the ready~ :mansoncheer: 06. February 7, 20169 yr As I've said before, I find 'Holy Water' to be the more 'offensive' song so I'm surprised 'S.E.X' got so many votes (not that I don't like 'Holy Water'). Despite the detail it goes into, I don't actually find this song cringy in the slightest; probably helps that it's got subtle production in the way most of the Erotica songs did which makes it less in your face.
February 7, 20169 yr Author 'Holy Water' is AMAZING so shouldn't be receiving any votes or even be up for discussion. -_- I think the cringiness in this comes out in some of her sexual choices (such as "golden showers" :mellow: - no one wants to think about Madonna (or anyone) doing that :manson:)

Did You Do It? / 74 points The next two songs TIES on points during the voting stage, so I have gone back to the nominations stage and the song that recieved more votes there has come 4th while this has got the 5th place position. 'Did You Do It?' is Madonna going hip-hop before Madonna going hip-hop was commonplace. It's a song that totally lacks Madge's presence and she's replaced by a mediocre rap with horrible lyrics (yo, did she sit on your face? :music: / But yo honey, uh, get them legs parted :music:) and no real substance at all. When Madonna does feature in it (in the catchy chorus) the song does shine slightly but on the whole it's a totally pointless inclusion on an otherwise personal album and rightfully takes a spot among M's worst~ :mansoncheer: 05. February 8, 20169 yr Adding a rap to the song should work given the original is quite hip-hop sounding anyway but, as you say, it's just extremely lacking in substance and I'm glad it doesn't feature on the edition of Erotica I have. Madonna's lack of presence makes this version incredibly forgettable and I don't even consider it a Madonna song - to the point where even it's inclusion on this countdown is kinda pointless! :lol:
