She's back in the studio in January and has already recorded some original material earlier this year. She worked with poet, who's worked with the BEP, and said she might work with him again. I'm pretty sure she'll work with Jonas Quant again, as she did work with him earlier this year too.

I think a Bruno collab would be amazing and could really kickstart Leona again worldwide. That is, if it ever happens (I hope so!). She has new management now, who are much better than her previous management, so I hope we get a lead single by May/June and perhaps a 2nd single and the album in August/September. Then she can promote the 3rd single on X-factor maybe. I'm really excited though! :D

I thought I'd make a thread for the upcoming fifth album since Leona has already been working on it during this year. With the huge success of 'One More Sleep' and Christmas, With Love already outperforming Glassheart sales-wise, I think Leona's new management will want to strike while the iron's hot and release something for the summer. Leona has said that she can't put a deadline on the album but I think it's safe to say that it will be with us by the end of 2014 (cue another year delay unexpectedly ).

She's already been working with Autumn Rowe on the project and has constantly stated in many interviews that she wants to collaborate with Bruno Mars and The Smeezingtons. Personally, I think a duet between the two would be HOT! The album seems to definitely be going in a retro, Motown direction at the moment.

I for one cannot wait! Hopefully radio will still be on board for this era.

Huge success of 'one more sleep'? I wouldn't say its been huge. Its barely sold 100k so far and will probably drop quickly after this week. Its certainly done far better than expected and in comparison to her recent stuff though.

Maybe because it's a Christmas song? <_<

The fact it has been top 3 for two weeks now and sold almost 100,000 in 3 weeks is amazing.

It has been a huge success. It is #1 on TV airplay, #4 on radio airplay - therefore becoming her biggest radio hit since 'Run'. Also, it's a Xmas song and that explains its short chart life obviously. She wasn't going to release it early November and no one would want to buy any xmas song after tomorrow. Surely this is the highest-peaking new Christmas song of the 21st Century?

You are missing the point that its only sold about 100k. That's hardly a huge success!!

I think this has done exceptionally well considering the dire state her career was in before it, I certainly didn't expect it to trouble the top 10 at all.

That's more than what "Trouble" did and it'll hopefully sell for many more Christmases to come. Especially considering many people wrote off Leona after the Glassheart era.

I think you are. I know what you're saying but she's only had 3 full chart weeks to sell her song. The real test will be how well it sells in following years around Christmas time and whether it will go on to become one of the staple festive hits each year. The fact that radio are all over it hopefully suggests that they'll still be playing it in a year's time.

Lol you need to think about context. How well it's sold in 3 weeks, how well it's done on TV and Radio & Leona breaking a record! :) Huge success IMO, so happy for her.

Can't wait for album #5!

It is actually, looking at how low the sales were this year. 100,000 in 3 weeks and she's #2 again and still rising in its 4th week.

And like others have mentioned: Tv and Radio charts are great and she broke a record.

Sales aren't actually low this year. They are low at the moment but not for the overall year. We have four 1 million selling singles with top20 all shifting half a million. While I appreciate its getting good coverage on tv and radio, its now fallen out of the top 10 on itunes after only a short period and its still probably not going to

Shift 200k and unlikely to feature in top 100 of the year. I'm glad its done better than most people expected but its certainly not had the same level of impact as other classic christmas songs such as Pogues and Mariah. Classing it as a substantial hit is a complete exaggeration in my opinion. Its only really a minor hit at present.

^ Sales are low at this time of year though. They always slow down the weeks running up to Christmas, plus they are actually down on last year's sales at the same point.

Also, it was bound to fall out of the top 10 today with the iTunes affect/the song being about Xmas Eve. It's been in the top 10 for around 15-16 days, being #1 for a few days and shifting around 120k-125k by the end of the year. Not to mention that stations like Heart/Capital/Radio 1 didn't start to spin Xmas songs until a couple weeks before Christmas. If they had starting spinning them a week or two earlier, then it would have had a better chart run, but unfortunately they didn't and we have no power over that. Furthermore, no one has ever said it is a substantial hit, ala Mariah/The Pogues. However, people have said it has the potential to be a Christmas classic. If it does become one, we'll see it re-appear for 4-5 weeks every year in the top 100 I hope, with it eventually going on to sell well. But we'll have to wait next year to see if that happens. Personally, I think it's become a good sized hit, having both great Radio & TV support and has done well in the time frame it's had.

Sales are not always low this time of year but this year they have been low with a lack of new impetus around. It was described as a "huge success" by the individual who started this thread but as you say, its only really impacted for a very short period and sold relatively modestly so I don't think you can define it as a huge success on that basis. If it had been released earlier, it would have sold more but I'm not sure whether that would have made a massive difference to be fair. It could become a huge success in years to come if it re-enters the charts in future years and continues to sell well but I don't think it will have the same kind of effect as other Christmas classics like the Pogues and Mariah.

By "huge success" I think they mean relative to Leona, not a huge success in general (although it could be depending on how it does every Christmas from now). This is the first time in 5 years that Leona has had such strong support from radio and TV. This will hopefully impact positively for her next album. :)

  • 2 weeks later...
Leona Lewis is hoping to have her fifth studio album out in time for the summer, although which summer is anyone's guess. Motivated by her Christmas album's success and her new Motown sound LeLe told me: "I've started work on my next album and I'd love it to be out this summer, but it could take two or three years". Her third album Glassheart took three years to make and failed to set the charts alight. But she has no regret's: "I won't release an album until I am 100% happy."
I hope she doesn't take that long! It would be nice if she had at least a new single out for Summer to capitalise on the success of 'One More Sleep' and 'Christmas, with Love'.
