Drag Race Down Under vs. the World | Season 1
Just saw Michael's rap... Damn. Probably one of the best across all franchises so far? Really like the rapping roast challenge - hope it becomes a staple on normal seasons!

Honestly the whole Ginger lying saga was a fun drama moment for a bit. But the fanbase is vile and takes things way too far. Hopefully Ginger is doing OK and disconnects for a bit whilst the fanbase calms down.

Great update for Dolly! Was hoping that "Two Doors Down" would appear on Spotify but alas! The BBC have made her Glastonbury set available on iPlayer for anyone interested - was watching last night and forgot how good it was. Dolly was also surprised at how well the crowd knew some of the songs! Hopefully we'll see a lot of single certifications for Dolly this year/next year for a lot of her uncertified singles such as "Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like That", "Two Doors Down", " My Tennessee Mountain Home" etc.

Based on Kworb's artist page, "Jolene" was averaging 339,438 streams/day worldwide. The UK figure for yesterday of 201,291 which is ~8.7% of its 2,310,261 global total. Using the same % we can assume that the song was averaging ~29,500 streams/day in the UK prior. So the 5-6 hours post-death account for an increase of ~170,000 streams compared to normal with that figure likely being even higher in tomorrow's update with a full 24 hours.

Dolly: #8. "Jolene" - 201,291 streams #15. "9 to 5" - 170,852 streams #16. "Islands In the Stream" - 170, 682 streams #88. "I Will Always Love You" - 98,579 streams #105. "Here You Come Again" - 91,945 streams "Jolene" is ~140k streams from #1. Hopefully with a full days streams we'll see it #1 in tomorrow's update and lots more entries/climbs! For context the above is ~6 hours of streams.

Yes. They did find out they were distantly related though a few years ago as they shared a relative from the 1700s.

Happy to see "Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like that" charting so well and "Two Doors Down" appearing in the top 100 on Apple Music! Do we think the OCC may make an exception for Dolly charting? I don't think we've seen such an instance where so many songs by an artist may reach new peaks or chart for the first time? I don't think we've seen a death-related chart boost since the 3 track rule came into force this big and the ones we have seen, such as Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, had already high-peaking hits re-charting.

Streams are fairly low high up the chart currently that even with the limited time we could see a big impact today. But the biggest update will likely be tomorrow with the full 24 hours.

So happy to see such a big impact on Apple Music. Hopefully the Spotify impact is even bigger. Really sad the 3 track rule is going to stop a lot of her songs getting new peaks or charting for the first time though.

Friday Chart Predictions
I do wonder if she'll be able to challenge for #1 next week with a full week and "Rein Me In" going to ACR. I assume Friday/the weekend will have various tribute shows broadcasting for Dolly.

It's quite strange to think her biggest album success came in the 2010s/2020s as well in the UK with multiple top 10 albums and multiple platinum/gold/silver certified albums. Also Wikipedia is constantly crashing for me looking up Dolly. Don't think I've seen a celebrity death cause Wikipedia to be so slow/crash before - hopefully a sign of how many people are looking up Dolly/what a big impact she had! It's a real shame the 3-track rule is in place as I could see Dolly charting more than 3 songs - some of which that haven't charted before.

Yes. May finally get a top 40 placing! Other songs to look out for: "Jolene" "Islands In the Stream" w/ Kenny Rodgers "Here You Come Again" "I Will Always Love You" Hoping one of my favourites will appear - "Coat of Many Colours".

RIP Dolly Parton
R.I.P Dolly - very sad news! The world will certainly be a less kind place without her.

Aww no not Dolly!! Given how low streams are I hope this means we'll see a big climb for lots of her songs.

Friday Chart Predictions
I guess we'll find out in the Wednesday update but I can't see them catching up a ~17.5k gap due to shipping delays for some of the CDs/Vinyls? Particularly if those delays have also affected Paul & Brandon which means their totals are even higher. Might mean they have a much better showing though with a top 5 or even 3 debut if the number of items delayed is significant.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor
Can't get enough of this. Debuted at #40 in the UK airplay chart last week and is #27 in the rolling 7-day. So glad it's at least getting radio play in the UK including the BBC Radio 2 A-list!! Such great ABBA vibes.

Estimated ACR status updates 2026
It should hopefully last quite a while now. Part of the reason it's been consistently back to SCR over the years is that after its release Gaga went through an album campaign and earlier this year Bruno went through one - both of which boosted the song/kept it higher for longer. Plus their subsequent tours boosted the song as well. Gaga and Bruno don't seem to have anything that will boost it soon... Although watch them announce a collab album or something with it included.

Friday Chart Predictions
Could Jorja improve through the week? She's likely to pick up some consistent/low streaming sales/be less front-loaded than most I would think? Really poor showing from Sam although not surprising. Fingers crossed "Rein Me In" goes to ACR finally. Might see a much quicker turnover at #1 the following weeks with how close/low sales are.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 21/08/26
"serena joy" is a low-key bop. Hopefully it'll be able to debut high given how low streams are at the top and debut top 40 in the official chart without issue despite the late release.
