Posted January 9, 201411 yr Lots of papers going with the story that there's a potential rift in One Direction at the moment due to a disagreement over musical sound, hence why they're on an extended break at the moment. Can't see there not being an element of truth to all this!
January 9, 201411 yr Is it not just Harry wanting to steer the group in a more rocky direction (like what has been portrayed in 'Midnight Memories')? I hope whatever the problem(s) is/are they can work through them and settle on a sound they all feel comfortable with. I can imagine why Zayn, Liam, Niall and Louis are pissed off when (if what's been said is anything to go by) Harry wants a completely different sound but they all want to stick with a pop/rock sound.

Yeah it will be, or so the papers say. But their management (and probably a few others) will want to keep their sound similar e.g. more mature songs mixed with big pop numbers. Not sure what will happen. I can't see them lasting too much longer to be honest (probably a year maximum). Going to be so many more disagreements now they're all getting older and thinking about the future.
January 9, 201411 yr You can just imagine when they do eventually go off and do their own thing and start settling down with fiancées, children, etc the fan-base will go into complete meltdown. I'd say they could probably squeeze another two albums out, but I can see them experimenting with solo material in the future (I think Harry and Zayn would be the only marketable ones, though).
January 10, 201411 yr The people behind them will do everything in their power to stop the rift as they should manage at least 2 more albums that will do well before it starts to fade. In solo terms i would agree that Harry and Zayn are the 2 most marketable members, however Niall has a huge fan base.

January 10, 201411 yr I'm not even entertaining this idea, tabloids always make a mountain out of a molehill. They'll have disagreements at times, that's hardly a headline.
January 10, 201411 yr How can you even begin to compare a band as shit as Take That to the wonderful one that is, One Direction?
January 10, 201411 yr I don't think that's the point. :P But I really don't think there's ANY kind of rift in 1D. It just seems like another lot of tabloid/gossip site rubbish.

January 10, 201411 yr Author There's usually no smoke without fire, and I can see this being true. Rift maybe a strong word, but major disagreement over their direction? Yep certainly seems so. Everything that I've read about Harry seems that he's pretty stubborn. They're all in their 20s now and massive stars, inevitable that they've got a lot more creative power. As for the solo situation I would say Harry and Niall are the only ones that would make it as solo artists. The former is certainly a given due to the media's obsession with him, and his public profile is much, much larger.
January 10, 201411 yr It's a load of rubbish. They've been talking about this break for months as they started promoting MM straight after the TMH tour which is sheer madness, and their "reward" for doing this was a longer-than-usual break. They have said in interviews that they asked for a 4 month break and their management agreed to just under 3 months. Their tour starts at the end of april, so they will get back together mid-march to begin tour rehearsals. I reckon around 99% of the stuff the media write about 1D is made up. March 31, 201411 yr Gary Barlow says: Gary Barlow has said that it is "too early" for One Direction to think about parting ways. The Take That singer responded to rumours that the boyband may be on the verge of splitting in the near future, saying that groups can often have disagreements. "There will be rows in a band but you are brothers," Barlow told The Sun. "They might be close sometimes and sometimes not, but it's part of the foundations - the boys have to take care of one another and look after one another. "You are having an amazing run and it's brilliant. You can't walk away from that - why would you?" He added: "Whenever I've met them they seem incredibly adult about the whole thing. "I think it's brilliant there is such a group representing Britain. If there's any suggestion of trouble, they need to hang on in there. It's way too early to be thinking about splitting up." Barlow began his 'Since I Saw You Last' tour in Belfast at the weekend. Last year, it was rumoured that Barlow was planning to collaborate with One Direction's Harry Styles.
