Delighted to see Spy get a couple of noms, Melissa was fantastic in it heart.gif Also yay for Ronan even though it was expected heart.gif Was hoping Brooklyn would receive quite a few more nominations though sad.gif
Absolutely delighted though to see Alicia Vikander get a nomination for Ex_Machina, she was excellent and superb in that heart.gif

So very happy to see Spy and McCarthy get recognition, one of my favourite comedies in ages so a Golden Globe nomination is the perfect recognition for it.

Kinda sad to see Mara and Vikander in the lead category because I would like either one to win the award but I think Larson has that category wrapped up now so I hope they do get put in supporting for the Oscars anyway.

Happy with all the nominations there, Ronan getting some more attention is great to see and very worthy.

Love that Maggie Smith got a nom, she was perfect at delivering her lines in Lady in the Van and wasn't expecting her to get recognised at all.

Not finished watching Ex-Machina yet but had it on tonight and Vikander really is fantastic, SO excited to see what future projects she picks up because she is VERY promising. Shame it probably won't get any Oscar noms but very happy for her two have two Golden Globe noms already in one year.

Really want Lawrence to get best actress in a comedy or musical though because in terms of performances alone, she has by far the best in there, it's just not really a comedy or musical and therefore Schumer or McCarthy may have the advantage :/

I'd love McCarthy to win, she was terrific in Spy! But then Lawrence and Schumer were also terrific! All 3 are in my top 7 Actress performance of the year and are all incredible!
Gosh Best Actress is so strong this year, at least 10 performances that all deserve to be winning these awards let alone nominated heart.gif

Really pleased for Brie Larson, well deserved. Kate Winslet is a bit of a shock, but I do adore her. Also surprised with J-Law, but she was also great.

'The Revenant' winning the best picture was a surprise. It's one of those films that I thought would get nominations all across the board, but only win for acting. Very excited to see it myself though. Kate Winslet winning was a surprise, but very deserved. She was brilliant in 'Steve Jobs'! Oscar Isaac finally getting some recognition, albeit not for 'Ex Machina' but still!

'Mr. Robot' winning best TV Show though *.*

Happy for Brie. Would've taken any of the actresses in the comedy category as I loved them all (ditto drama really). Don't "get" The Martian though (especially in that category) - I'd have rather had any of Joy, Trainwreck or Spy win that.

Amy Adams was the true winner last night, stunning goddess tbh

Anyone else see the way J-Law called out that reporter? Rude bitch tbh. The poor guy was more than likely reading his question off his phone and it seems obbious English isn't his first language so for her to belittle him like that was taking it too far. It was pretty clear he was inquiring about how she felt about the Oscars and whether she could win after her GG win.

Yeah, it was REALLY rude, my opinion of her has plummeted after the video. She reminded me of the bitchy girls at school The worst part was when she said sarcastically "this is not the oscars, it's the golden globes" patronising AF

She's never been high up in my estimations but now she's just showing herself up to be a total cow.

Yeah, like there is a bit of a point to the phone comment (as a general thing) but this wasn't the right place for it at all and whatever she was trying to go for (with the Oscars/GG comment)...did not work.

Shocked at most of these awards, only predicted 4 right!
Very interesting results actually with loads of shocks

Key Points from this for me:
  • Big ouch for Spotlight winning nothing. Could start to struggle from now on
  • Also a terrible night for The Big Short winning no awards despite competing in the less competitive Comedy/Musical Category
  • The Martian has done way better than expected and can Matt Damon get the 5th spot at the Oscars now?
  • Think J-Law has the 5th best actress spot wrapped up now unless Mara is in lead
  • Fantastic night for Steve Jobs winning 2 awards! Didn't expect that for Kate but glad she won!
  • Wow at The Revenant! Potential Best Picture Winner surely now after winning Picture + Director!
  • Who with working ears would vote for Writing On The Wall as the best movie song of 2015??
  • Also surprised Sylvester Stallone won, can't wait to see Rocky!

Oh yes, Writing's On the Wall winning best song is utterly offensive. Can we all stop encouraging Sam Smith please? The thought of him winning an Oscar (or even being nominated) makes my blood boil.

So happy for Leo and The Revenant looks awesome. Can't wait to see it next week!

Echo the sentiments above re Sam Smith winning. I mean how? What a whining mess of a song!

Absolute travesty he's never won one imo. If he doesn't get it this year I may be forced to hunt down members of the Academy myself LOL
