So JJ Abrams did a Beyonce and surprised everyone by dropping the trailer to a new film he made. The sequel to 'Cloverfield'!

The original is one of my favourite films, especially in terms of cinema experience! So I'm extremely excited for this. Nobody knew that he'd actually started work on it, despite various talks about a sequel being made etc... nothing really came to fruition. The original film had the single greatest marketing strategy for a film, I have ever seen. Nobody knew what the film was called up until a month or so before release. Various stuff was kept secret. The poster had no title, just the release date!

VERY EXCITED.

I'm so excited about this, even if it's literally impossible to determine how it is linked to Cloverfield.

Absolutely adore the first movie.

Apparently the "monster" is going to be blood related to Clovie. I guess Clovie was running around the streets of New York in the hope of finding whatever relation this monster is!

I'm not sure that it is a direct sequel to Cloverfield.
I interpreted the 'blood brother' description to refer to the film rather than the creature - if there is one.

Yeah he said the movie was a "blood relative", not the monster. That doesn't really give anything away though.

Also heard this was a 'blood relative' but nevertheless really excited for this! The cast is excellent, the trailer is fantastic and even though Cloverfield has its flaws; I still really enjoyed it heart.gif

This is amazing! My favourite movie I've seen this year I think. I was gripped from start to finish! It was very slightly predictable in a couple of scenes but I don't care because it was executed brilliantly. The connection with the first film comes towards the end for those discussing earlier. I was worried, given the setting, it was plod along and developments would take a while but it's actually very well paced.

Oh yes, this is indeed fantastic - one of the best of the year so far for me. Oops at me not having seen the first one though.

One of the most perfectly paced films, I think I've ever seen. I really enjoyed it. Probs my 4th favourite of the year to date ('The Revenant', 'Room' & 'Deadpool' are ahead). Extremely tense and gripping and the final half an hour-40 mins or so were SO good! Looking forward to catching this again to see if I missed anything the first time around.

My only gripe with this film is that I wished they explored what happened with that girl more. My suspicion is he abducted the girl to replace his daughter, then when she tried to escape, he probably killed her. He then probably viewed Michelle as his second chance to 'recreate' his daughter. Hence why he wouldn't refer to her as woman and only 'girl' and 'princess' in that game.

But this is all stuff I had to deduce myself, it would've been nice to have heard more about it.

Impressed with how interested this managed to keep me, with pretty much three characters and such a confined setting. It's not something I'd normally go for but the trailer was intriguing and the word of mouth and reviews have been very good so I'm pleased that I took the chance, really enjoyed it. I liked how it kept us guessing and really liked the cast / characters.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten all about that plotline by the time it finished, now I want to know what happened there too laugh.gif

I kind of like that it didn't explain everything! Not everything has to be obvious I think.

I thought it was a very clever movie actually, not what I expected at all. Probably my second favourite movie of this year behind 'Room' for me.

"3 In A Bunker" would have been a better title. Good character drama with a tagged-on ending (sort of) 6/10

(PS the cast are good, the script is good, the directing good. John is Good(man), a terrific performance and a long way from his usual loveable type of role)

Nah. You don't need to have seen the first to get this. It's a spin-off as opposed to a sequel/prequel. biggrin.gif

I REALLY enjoyed this! Me and my friend were just holding each other throughout most of the second half as we found it super intense :') I thought the characters were played really well, and I seriously enjoyed how smart Michelle was wub.gif

The majority of this was fantastic, so thrilling and John Goodman was fantastic, so unnerving at moments. It was suspenseful pretty much from start to finish which I really liked, it sort of reminded me of a different version of Room if it focused on the relationship between the kidnapped and Ma instead of her and Jack. The ending I hated though, it would have been a fantastic thriller without it but it just turned into a boring action movie and I was so disappointed. I'd have much preferred a cliffhanger ending where she sees something in the sky and it's left up to the viewers whether it's an ordinary helicopter or alien spaceship and then it ended, I'd have been well satisfied with an ending like that.
