Posted May 27, 20169 yr  300 CHARTS  yep, who'd have thought this chart would still be going after 300 editions? me. anyway, I'll be counting down my top 40 songs of the week in this thread, as well as revisiting some of the charts of yesteryear. jump to end Today's contenders Calvin Harris & Rihanna ~ This Is What You Came For Ybo4QvKVHoE Calvin and RiRi debuted at #1 and haven't left that position since, could they get a fourth week at #1 this week on the 300th chart? SeeB ~ Breathe (feat. Neev) SyRv0-oPfKE SeeB have been very unlucky to fall behind massive #1s 'This Is What You Came For' and 'Mirror Me' and currently has spent 6 weeks at #2, five of them consecutively. Could this finally be the week they get their long-awaited #1? Croatia Squad & Lika Morgan ~ Make Your Move Xz7WGlJlHMU Now for the outside contender - Croatia Squad and Lika Morgan entered at #14 last week with their re-interpretation of Dave Armstrong's 'Make Your Move' (also known for the Junior Jack version titled 'Stupidisco'), could it climb all the way to #1 this week? Also look out for new songs from Martin Solveig, Danny L Harle, High Contrast and more in the chart this week.
May 27, 20169 yr Author 40 34 25 Zara Larsson ~ Lush Life 57-35-54-21-5-3-5-5-3-5-2-3-1-1-2-7-9-7-13-24-26-26-29-34-40- tD4HCZe-tew We start the top 40 with one of my personal favourites of the year, if not *the* favourite. Despite just the two weeks at #1, 'Lush Life' has been a very consistent runner in the top 40 all year as well as having a mammoth top 10 run. Choon. Chart History [Zara Larsson] 01 Lush Life 12 Girls Like (w/ Tinie Tempah) 13 Never Forget You 16 This One's For You (w/ David Guetta) 43 Uncover
May 27, 20169 yr Author 39 73 14 Era Istrefi ~ Bonbon 24-22-21-17-15-20-32-44-53-58-50-51-73-39- cedoBlUvBlI Queen of Albanian pop music [well there's not exactly any competition] Era Istrefi smashes her way back into the top 40 this week as 'Bonbon' is still quite the banger of a tune. Also it's now got an English mix which isn't as good as the original but now means the song may have a chance of being a UK hit :cheer: Chart History 15 Bonbon
May 27, 20169 yr Author 38 45 12 Gnash ~ I Hate U, I Love U (feat. Olivia O'Brien) 41-48-49-48-42-36-20-40-64-53-45-38- BiQIc7fG9pA After spending a good 10 weeks in my chart The UK decided to finally make this song a hit. Good thing too 'cause it's a beauty of a song. I just hope I don't eventually get really tired of it like often happens with slow songs that get big, but this deserves to smash. It re-enters the top 40 this week off the back of its impending UK slayage. Chart History 20 I Hate U, I Love U
May 27, 20169 yr Author 37 31 6 Mura Masa ~ What If I Go? (feat. Bonzai) 91-x-87-59-30-31-37- pLuQ0MGLBXU Mura Masa broke through earlier this year with 'Firefly' and 'Love For That' which were hits around the same time in my chart. This has to be the best thing he's done to date though, very fresh and British sounding production. Chart History 24 Firefly 30 What If I Go? 50 Love For That
May 27, 20169 yr That Bonbon track is quite the bop, not heard the English version as of yet. Boo at Mura Masa falling I still love that :music:
May 27, 20169 yr Author 36 33 2 MNEK ~ At Night (I Think About You) 33-36- pnJtRuYQ0JA After the brilliant 'Never Forget You', it seems MNEK hasn't followed in the path of Zara Larsson by releasing an even better song. 'At Night' however is still very good and gets a 2nd week in the top 40 this week. Chart History 05 Hold On (w/ Duke Dumont) 13 Never Forget You (w/ Zara Larsson) 13 Baby (w/ Rudimental) 17 The Rhythm 18 Ready For Your Love (w/ Gorgon City) 23 Close (w/ Sub Focus) 33 At Night (I Think About You)
May 27, 20169 yr Author 35 19 5 Margaret ~ Cool Me Down 18-16-14-19-35- HWX-Mw4dbCs After four weeks in the top 20 Margaret starts making her way out with the Zara Larsson-sounding 'Cool Me Down'. It's done very well here though for what is essentially a Eurovision song. Chart History 14 Cool Me Down
May 27, 20169 yr Author 34 ** 1 Willy William ~ Ego 34- iOxzG3jjFkY Now we go to our first new entry of the day, this one comes from French musician Willy William whose 'Ego' has over 90 million views on YouTube. It seems that I'm late to the party with this one but nonetheless it's quite a banger. Chart History 34 Ego
May 27, 20169 yr Author Cool Me Down is better than anything Zara has or will ever release IMO  my chart run for Lush Life suggests otherwise
May 27, 20169 yr Author 33 64 3 High Contrast ~ Remind Me 97-64-33- U1nOVki4ME8 Entering the top 40 is the return of High Contrast, who has a bit of history in this chart including a #1. Needless to say 'Remind Me' is the best thing he's done in AGES. I do love a good bit of drum n' bass from time to time and this guy knows how to make it :music: Chart History 01 The First Note Is Silent 08 Strong (w/ London Grammar) 16 The Road Goes on Forever (One Minute to Midnight Mix) 33 Remind Me 43 How Love Begins (w/ DJ Fresh) 49 Let Go For Tonight (w/ Foxes)
May 27, 20169 yr Author 32 41 2 Anton Powers ~ Love You Better 41-32- 5z7MLq_LNTo Well I certainly didn't expect Anton Powers to come back with such a tune - after all, 'Alone No More' was a bit of a letdown for Philip George after two brilliant singles and maybe that was down to Powers. But he proves himself with house anthem 'Love You Better' which brings him back into the top 40 this week and could climb further in the coming weeks. Chart History 26 Alone No More (w/ Philip George) 32 Love You Better
May 27, 20169 yr Love You Better is a stunner  it is pretty much Alone No More but with female vocals yet still a massive tune. Nice find!
May 27, 20169 yr Author 31 28 22 Alan Walker ~ Faded (feat. Iselin Solheim) 14-15-2-3-3-7-8-4-5-15-18-8-12-13-9-5-7-15-19-21-28-31- 60ItHLz5WEA It seems this song is starting to slip now, but let's not ignore its mammoth top 20 run which definitely has the song down as a contender for the EOY Top 10. This is still such a breath of fresh air in the UK charts too. Chart History 02 Faded
May 27, 20169 yr 33 64 3 High Contrast ~ Remind Me 97-64-33- Chart History 01 The First Note Is Silent 08 Strong (w/ London Grammar) 16 The Road Goes on Forever (One Minute to Midnight Mix) 33 Remind Me 43 How Love Begins (w/ DJ Fresh) 49 Let Go For Tonight (w/ Foxes) Hey Dan, Loving “Remind Me”, but am surprised you didn't chart “Who's Loving You - Pt. 2” that was a massive hit for me which peaked at #7 in October 2014. The highest he has gone!
May 27, 20169 yr Author R3TRO Let's now take a break to look at what was hitting the charts 5 years ago! It was the week of Lady GaGa's album release, which had a major impact on the chart. The new entries from her were 'Schieße' [#9], 'Government Hooker' [#21], 'Marry The Night' [#27], 'Bad Kids' [#32] and 'Electric Chapel' [#33] - which joined 'The Edge Of Glory', 'Born This Way', 'Judas' and 'Hair' in the chart. Other new entries that week came from Calvin Harris ('Awooga', #22 - which would later peak at #3) and for some reason Clare Maguire ('The Shield And The Sword', #34) and The Script ('Science & Faith', #42). Here's how the top 10 looked: 01 [01] LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem [feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock] 02 [04] Nero - Guilt 03 [03] Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat 04 [22] Pitbull - Give Me Everything [feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer] 05 [05] Lady GaGa - The Edge Of Glory 06 [12] Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me 07 [07] Inna - Sun Is Up 08 [08] Calvin Harris - Bounce [feat. Kelis] 09 [NE] Lady GaGa - Schieße 10 [NE] Nicole Scherzinger - Right There [feat. 50 Cent] This would be the eighth and final week at #1 for LMFAO (a record at the time) before being overtaken by Pitbull the following week. May 27, 20169 yr Author That Bonbon track is quite the bop, not heard the English version as of yet. It's not on YouTube, but it leaked and a link was placed in the thread in the pop forum Love You Better is a stunner  it is pretty much Alone No More but with female vocals yet still a massive tune. Nice find!I guess it is, it just works a lot better for me though. Maybe it's the better vocalist. Hey Dan, Loving “Remind Me”, but am surprised you didn't chart “Who's Loving You - Pt. 2” that was a massive hit for me which peaked at #7 in October 2014. The highest he has gone!yeah I never got into that. ~ the countdown will resume after I've eaten dinner, which may be a while ~
May 27, 20169 yr Author 30 32 3 Arston ~ Light 70-32-30- 0QG14MiF3Po The top 30 starts with Arston who recently represented Danaelanda in Worldvision and finished 9th with this trance banger. The song's actually a year old but only got recently discovered for the purposes of the contest. Chart History 14 The Universe (w/ Marcus Schössow) 30 Light
