MOST ATTRACTIVE ACTRESS

- Amy Adams -
- Emma Stone -
- Jennifer Lawrence -
- Margot Robbie -
- Scarlett Johansson -

Some very gorgeous girls here and all have had some great roles this year. Amy Adams has killed it with two awards-worthy roles in Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, Emma Stone looks likely to take home as Oscar, Margot Robbie has been one of the most popular female characters of recent times in Suicide Squad, Scarlett killed it again as Black Widow and looks set to storm Summer this year in The Ghost in the Shell and Jennifer Lawrence made another appearance in one of her most popular franchises, X-men.

BEST ENSEMBLE

- 10 Cloverfield Lane -
- Captain America: Civil War -
- Finding Dory -
- Star Wars: Rogue One -
- Suicide Squad -
- The Accountant -
- The Nice Guys -

Here are the nominees for best ensemble and some great picks if I do say so myself. In terms of traditionally large cast, both superhero movies and Star Wars a great examples of the cast all coming together to create an enjoyable final product. There are also some more inspired choices as well in terms of smaller box office hits such as The Accountant, The Nice Guys and 10 Cloverfield Lane which are all nice picks (not so sure on The Accountant though, only really liked Anna Kendrick from that). Finding Dory seems like a bit of a random choice but all the characters are great and also expertly voiced so fair enough! biggrin.gif

Such a fabulous category! wub.gif All 5 up there with my ultimate girl crushes, but its between Emma and Margot for me this year! Wonder if Margot will win again this year?

Compared to last year, Margot/Jennifer/Scarlett all in again and Emma/Amy replace Jessica Chastain/Rose Byrne/Alicia Vikander (gutted the latter missed out, she so nearly made it in again!)

BEST ACTION MOVIE

- Captain America: Civil War -
- Deadpool -
- Doctor Strange -
- Star Wars: Rogue One -
- Suicide Squad -

There were some really great action movies this year and therefore I don't expect that any of these come as a surprise to many of you. Captain America had a lot of things going for it and the action being one of those things, I think the airport battle scene has deservedly been one of the biggest talking points from movies in 2016. Deadpool also had some great action which will hopefully be improved upon too with a bigger budget for the sequel. As we've come to expect now from Marvel, Doctor Strange had some impressive fight scenes and CGI too as did Star Wars which also raked in the money for Disney. The final spot goes to Suicide Squad, say what you like about the film but personally I enjoyed the hell out of seeing characters like Harley Quinn, The Joker and Captain Boomerang beat up bad guys (or good guys laugh.gif) tbh.

I don't think any of my ensemble's made it but the nominations for 10CL/Rogue One/Nice Guys are all deserved!

Rogue One to storm that action category please, the only one there that isn't overrated.

BIGGEST BOX OFFICE SURPRISE

- 10 Cloverfield Lane -
- Deadpool -
- Don't Breathe -
- Moana -
- The Jungle Book -

10 Cloverfield Lane did pretty good box office wise and managed to make it over $100 million at the worldwide box office, not bad for a thriller primarily set in one room. I remember seeing some people predicting Zoolander 2 to actually do better than Deadpool as they both opened in the same week in the US and the latter was definitely the more risky option of the two, in the end it ended up being absolutely huge and seems to have transformed the places that superhero movies are willing to go now. For a low budget horror made for less than $10 million, I imagine Sony wouldn't be too upset with the $156 million that Don't Breathe made worldwide, I haven't seen it but it got great reviews and good box office returns to match. I actually thought Moana did pretty disappointing tbh and Zootropolis would be much more worthy of a nomination here, at the start of the year I'd have never have guessed it would have made over a billion dollars worldwide. The Jungle Book has also done pretty well off the back of great reviews and done a lot better than some other recent live-action fairytales so yay, time to get excited for The Jungle Book 2! biggrin.gif

I'm actually shell-shocked Moana made it in there. Glad it isn't just me! It did ok and tbh performed a little under expectations. Bad Moms or Zootropolis would have been a much more worthy nomination there!

BEST PICTURE: NOMINEE #1

Obvious nomination but so well deserved! Our first Best Picture nominee is the best film of 2016, Disney's incredible Zootropolis which is not only entertaining, fun and well-plotted, but also powerful and portrays one of the most important messages in a film this year which was something I really didn't expect when I saw it! The characters, the plot, the voice acting, the animation and Shakira's Try Everything are also massive highlights and I'm glad this has got its deserved placing in the Best Picture line-up! wub.gif

We will be doing the same thing as last year with two people submitting write-ups for each of the best picture nominations which will be posted during the final results presentation! You can do as many as you want as long as two people haven't taken them! You can either post if you want to write up a film now or if there's still spaces when the voting thread goes up, you can claim the space then!

BIGGEST BOX OFFICE DISASTER

- Alice Through The Looking Glass -
- Blair Witch -
- Ghostbusters -
- Ice Age: Collision Course -
- Independence Day: Resurgence -
- Zoolander 2 -

Biggest box office disaster award here and there are some really big disasters highlighted here. The Alice in Wonderland sequel did really bad, the latest film didn't even make a third of what the first did at the worldwide box office which is a massive drop off. Ice Age 5 also saw a huge drop off from its previous films but tbh, it still made over $400 million worldwide and a nice profit for the studio too I imagine. For a sequel to such a famous horror film, Blair Witch really did bomb and another cult classic, Zoolander also finally got a sequel this year which made even less than the first one back in 2001 despite not even being a hit back then either laugh.gif In terms of reboots of old films too, both Ghostbusters and Independence Day did end up making a fair bit of money in the end tbh but it was the huge budgets that caused the films to be seen as such big bombs.

I really don't think Ghostbusters was in the worst performers of the year, yeah it didn't do great but it still did ok in the end considering all the circumstances and will probably make a small profit eventually. The win is directly split between three for me: Ice Age 5 for that embarrasing drop-off from the last film, Zoolander 2 cause it deserves every negative award possible and it did shit at the box office or Alice Through The Looking Glass for its fabulous hold from the first film, it only had over an 80% in box office from the first one!!!!

BEST PICTURE NOMINEE #2
-
X-men: Apocalypse

This has come to a bit of surprise to men because the film didn't really get great reviews but it seems you guys liked it enough to put it here. I also really liked it but can't quite remember if it made my nominations or not when I sent them to Sam. Like other X-men movies, it has a great collection of characters and recurring faces, we get some more of some great leads in McAvoy and Fassbender and some more great action scenes too (the new Quicksilver scene wasn't as good as the one in Days of Future Past but it was still loads of fun to watch). I think a lot of the dislike for this came from the fact that it isn't half as good as Days of Future Past and Apocalypse as a villain was a bit cringey. Focusing on the good things, we were introduced to a lot of new cast members here and whilst it is unclear where the X-men franchise will move on to from here, it would be great to see more of the likes of Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Sophie Turner in their new roles.

BEST PICTURE NOMINEE #3
-
Captain America: Civil War

Unlike X-men making the cut, I imagine this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone as it has easily been one of the most popular movies of the year as well as ending up as the highest grossing movie worldwide at the box office for 2016. The film is critically acclaimed, especially for bringing some real stakes to the MCU showing the characters we've come to love begin to fight against each other and even have to go on the run as fugitives. It was great to see the characters again and the Marvel movies are really a force that cannot be stopped now, the movies get millions of people hyped to see them and this was no exception. The action was also incredible and worth the price of admission alone, woo at getting three Marvel movies in 2017 w00t.gif

MOST ATTRACTIVE ACTOR

- Chris Evans -
- Chris Pratt -
- Ryan Gosling -
- Ryan Reynolds -
- Sebastian Stan -

Quite a good batch but a lil disappointing (Miles Teller, Alden Ehrenreich, Tye Sheridan etc>>>>>>>>all of these, I think Ryan G was the only one to make my list) as we have the battle of the Ryan's, the Chris's and Sebby! All are quite attractive and have no clue who will win! Grant will be delighted to see Chris & Sebastian make the cut the Marvel fans will be delighted to see 4 superheroes here and probably the La La Land stans (aka me and hopefully others x) are glad Gosling made the cut!

Also interesting is this is practically a complete overhall on last year whereas actress stayed similar! Only Evans has made the cut both years! None of Henry Cavill, Liam Hemsworth, Oscar Isacc, Tom Hardy and last years WINNER Zac Efron make the cut- especially surprised at the latter missing out!

Neither of those 2 Superhero pics should be in the Best Picture line-up for me, Cap 3 I knew was always gonna happen get but shocked X-Men: Apocalypse got in. I did like both and they are probably the two best Superhero flicks this year but neither would make my top 25 of the year!

All those men are very good-looking but my favourites are Chris Evans (still my #1 celeb crush of all) and Ryan Gosling (don't think i'm the only one who melted a little at him in La La Land laugh.gif)

Was nice seeing Chris Pratt's bum in Passengers too though heehee.gif
