Looks really charming and heart-warming, definitely think it's going to be a massively popular film when released. Loving the cinematography here too, so vibrant wub.gif

It's being distributed by A24 (Room, Moonlight) and will probably be their big push at awards season so it has to be listed as one to look out for. A lot of people are predicting Hollywood veteran Willem Dafoe to snatch the Best Supporting Actor win at the Oscars this year !

Omg I saw Sean Baker's name pop up and recognised him as being the director of "Tangerine", one of my favourite movies of 2015! No wonder the cinematography looks so great.

Appears really sweet from the trailer, pumped for this now.

A masterpiece. Everything about this is utterly wonderful. The cinematography is gorgeous and the music/score fits the film rly well I was full on bopping to celebration or whatever its called at the start *.*. The story was incredible and was one that really needed to be told and was informative and heart-breaking to see how these lives occur so close to a place as magical as Disney. The directing was fab as well. However the utterly spectacular acting is what makes this film. Brooklyn Prince may only be 7 (?) years old but she's a future star, she is so incredible in this and is easily the best child performance since Tremblay in Room, she carries the film perfectly and her performance is fab. Willem Dafoe is also incredible and would be the best supporting actor winner in years if that happens, the scene where he confronts the pedofile was heart-breaking/incredibly acted and he is the rock of the film and is just fantastic. However my favourite performance was by Bria Vinaite as Brooklyn's mum and I really wished she was getting more award notices as she definitely deserves to be in contention for the Oscar! Her performance is phenomenal and her character is so heart-breaking as you can see how much she loves her child but every decision she makes in order to survive just gets worse and worse for their lives. The ending was also really good & once again heart-breaking. It felt very sudden when it happened and a bit random but thinking back on it is such an effective end and really highlights the juxtaposition between the magic of Disney and the poverty of people in the motel's that live so close to Disney. An utterly terrific star-making performance that rly caught me out of nowhere. The rest of the cast are also great and the kids are so good! I also love the little bits of humour injected in the film, such as the start & the early interactions between Dafoe & the kids, and the film balances the joys of childhood with the reality of their hard upbringings perfectly. Just incredible.

The cast also came on after the film had finished as a surprise which was fantastic! A rly great Q&A and made me appreciate the film even more <3

I really hope this will be the little film that could come Oscar season, and I really feel like it might be. I can definitely see Willem winning supporting actor and I wouldn't rule out a shock Brooklyn nom in supporting actress (Bria deserves a nom but I can't see that happening). Hopefully directing as well.

Massively recommend y'all catch this when it comes out in cinemas!

10/10 (best film of the year after La La Land)

Was so impressed by this, hope it's a big awards contender in all major categories! The cinematography was stunning too but I already have my heart set on a CMBYN win in that category wub.gif laugh.gif

Brooklynn Prince is such a little star, it never felt like she wasn't a real character and she was just so charismatic and enjoyable to watch. Willem Dafoe was spectacular too, a very quiet performance for the most part but the scene where he confronts the paedohphile that Sam mentioned really impressed me especially.

I loved the almost documentary style in which the story is told and there were plenty of moments to keep me laughing and engaged when there wasn't much of a plot. The ending was fantastic too, it really drove home the idea that these kids don't deserve their circumstances and tough upbringings and should be able to be children in the happiest place in the world for most kids.

I was left a bit disappointed after this hype, it wasn't bad but it didn't overly excite me and I don't view it as a major Oscar contender (at least in any major categories - recognition for cinematography would be fair). Definitely not as good as Sean Baker's last movie "Tangerine".

If Jacob Tremblay couldn't get in for "Room", I would be astonished if Brooklynn was anywhere close to being nominated.

Since my last post, Brooklynn has actually gone lead and not supporting so I'd be beyond shocked now if she gets in! (Unless she pulls a shocker like the girl who's name icr from Beasts of the southern wild)

I might be being a bit harsh but Quvenzhane Wallis in BOTSW was pretty much just vacant stares edited into a half-decent performance and she didn't really have much to do at all in that role. I know it's looking to be a much more competitive Lead Actress race this awards season but Prince was far more charismatic and it never felt like she was acting at all. I hope her chances of a nomination aren't completely destroyed by the choice of category placement sad.gif

Well I'm glad they aren't going for category fraud just to try and help her out because she is the lead, surely?

This was truly incredible - hilarious yet so moving at the same time The bit where Moonee says goodbye to Jancey at the end was so heartbreaking. The whole acting was so amazing and realistic - it actually felt like a real documentary at points.

I honestly think this is the best film I've seen since Room.
