Hi everyone!

I thought it would be great to see some retrospectives of albums from the 00s that week very special to our Buzzjack members! The idea is that people can post a review of an album they love and people can share comments and memories! You could even stream the album if you want to and aren’t familiar with it! I encourage as many posters to join in as possible. I will be posting a review each day but it’d be lovely to hear from all of you!

I’m going to kick things off with not just my favourite album of the 00, but my favourite of all time! I’m Not Dead by P!nk!

This was Pink’s fourth studio album and was released in the UK on 3rd April 2006. It entered the UK album chart at no.3 which would remain its peak. However, it became one of Pink’s most enduring albums and a constant seller and has become her second highest seller in the UK (trailing only her sophomore effort, M!ssundaztood) selling in excess of 1.2 million copies. This was a comeback of sorts for Pink with her third album slightly underperforming and not being a record she felt very connected with. She took a hiatus and came back in style. The album cover and title say it all-she was back and she meant business. Stupid Girls was her comeback, a statement on the Paris Hilton culture of the time and a message for young girls to follow their dreams and not conform to stereotypes, it saw her return to the UK top 10. In the following months, Who Knew and U+ Ur Hand followed into the top 10.

This was a very personal album for Pink. Themes include loss, drug addiction, rape and growing up. She still keeps her trademark cheeky side with songs like Cuz I Can and U+ Ur Hand. Who Knew, Long Way To Happy and Conversations, amongst many other tracks are deeply personal and yet quite universal in terms of her fan base. And Dear Mr President was an open letter to George W Bush at the time and I still feel it is very relevant today with a lot of our issues in today’s society.

At the time I was 17 and had begun one of the best times of my life being in sixth form and partying with my friends, looking forward to going to university. I had been long awaiting the next Pink album and I was blown away by this. It quickly became my album of the glorious Summer of 2006. Who Knew was an instant fave and I can never decide if it is my very favourite track or if Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely) is as that was a song I really related to at the time, sometimes just wanting to be on my own. Even my least favourite track, The One Who Got Away, still gets loads of plays from me even now.

I bought the vinyl in 2018 and have loved reliving the album again in a new format.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this album!

Incredible album, as per usual for Pink tbh she can’t miss a mark for me! Who Knew is one of my favourite Pink songs ever

I remember how slow this album started due to Stupid Girls being really not the best choice to lead the album, but then the album proved itself and held so well in the charts.

Who Knew and U + Ur Hand

I remember prancing to the club with U + UR Hand blasting in the headphones.

BTW, what is this forum about anyways?

Just a chance to discuss and reminisce a really fun decade. You can start up any threads you like if it has links to the decade!

Chris if you have a favourite album from the 00s you want to review, please feel free to do so!

I will be posting some more reviews. Not sure yet whether to keep them all in here or go back to separate threads.

Personally I would start splitting them.

I have an album ready to start a topic if you is okay with that.

My favourite album of hers by a mile! I honestly adored Who Knew for so long!
