We are planning to finish the #2 single listening sessions by the end of the year, and have a little end of season party on 17 December. So what would you like us to do next?

Now albums! That would be very very interesting

I think I'd say Now albums, we've had several of the #3s and #2 albums already and while we'll have a lot of repeats here too, they'll also be quite a lot we haven't covered and it really would be like a journey into popular music of that era.

Plus if we go hardcore, it books up 115 Sundays and more after so...no pressure to find something else for a while!!

My preference remains Top 10 hits with preselection as the Now albums would bring up a ton of repeats.

If we are going with Now compilations though (as that appears to be the clear overall preference) I'd be tempted to at least say stop at 100 though then that perfectly covers two years (plus the ones after that especially are jam packed with filler).

I voted for any of the top 3. Now albums wouldn’t be for me - as Dan said, there would be lots of repeat acts and others we wouldn’t ever hear because they couldn’t license them

Well I understand there was a series starting from about #50 onwards done before so we could do it for a year and then decide whether we want to continue.
Could we do something like the highest end of year songs not already featured?

That's a good shout actually, I'd wondered about something like that before!

I’d also be very happy to continue with #3 songs by the way. There won’t be that many repeats and if they’re album session repeats we might not even remember. If they’re #2 session bonuses they’ll be great songs so fine to hear them again.

I also like that the main event of the sessions is completist and not subjective so you do have to sit through all the rubbish. But I know I’m a bit weird haha! It’s nice to have some chosen bonuses at the end though.

If we do the #3 singles, my OCD will compel me to comb through the #3s thread in the Chart Vault where they're mostly listed in order of chart entry instead of when they actually reached #3! I've reordered some of them at the year/session changeovers in the lists I've been posting for #3-5 bonuses (and also converted them all to "Artist - Title"), but there's a lot I haven't looked at. Would be a good choice though!

I chose top 10 hits so we have no repeats. I would be happy with Now albums if we go with that or the other two choices.

I also ticked "something else" as I have another suggestion, top 40 singles chart rundowns from this week in a certain year. As our session is 4-7 on a Sunday, it would be at the same time and day as the old Radio 1 chart show.

Ooh I like that. We’d need a systematic way of deciding the year.

What does top 10 with preselection means?
basically we would go through the remainder of the UK top 10 hits (excluding #1s/#2s) in chronological order but there'd be a nominations process to decide what gets played as it would take way too long to play every UK top 10 hit in history

I think my ultimate preference would just be #3 singles - though absolutely fair enough if others want Now albums. There is a positive with Now albums in that it would start from the 80s :kink:

I liked the idea of top 10 hits but I suspect a voting method would just throw up ones that we already know and we’d lose some of the variety

agree don't like this pre-voting thing, that would be my least favourite option

for me either Nows or #3s would be ok.

I think #2 albums would be too much of a chore. At the end album #1s was almost unlistenable cos of all those bad 1 week chart-toppers of recent times, #2s would be even worst...

I think doing the Nows gives up a great perspective of the history of music, and as Dandy says, it stats straight in the 80s, which is a big plus for me personally as I don't like 60-70s much

we could also do #3 singles and start them in the 80s too (part of the reason for my preference being pre-voting was so we could skip a good chunk of the very old stuff which is often a bit of a chore to sit through)

or just only commit to doing the first 50 Now compilations then put up another public poll like this end of next year for what to do next, as some of us had already done a Now 40-100 marathon a few years ago.

put me down for being against #2 albums too by the way

Voted for #3s (made it a tie in the process :kink:) mostly for selfish reasons as I've done a marathon of all the Now albums before but never #3s. My preference would be all of them, as a completist, plus I enjoy plenty of 60s music. I would turn up for anything though, any excuse to geek out about charts or Nows :D

funnily enough Rollo's idea in some form came to me as well (instead just any top 40 and people taking in turns to choose one) although a bit more hassle to organise and when would it end  maybe when every other idea has run dry
