About The Rebublic of Ashton

Founded in 1510 Ashton is one of Buzzjack's oldest countries. A voyage of discovery from Chester, England struck land at New England Harbour, Yanthington on June 24th 1603. The ship, Bow of Ashworth, has been preserved in the museum of Ashtonise history located in the capital Morpeth Cove. Following the initial landing captain Francis Kelly formed a township inland away from the threat of invasion at Holdvale. The dictatorship government he formed is still in power today with his descendant, Phil, currently in power. The full country had been explored and mapped by 1687 giving Ashton it's modern borders. In 1802 Morpeth Cove located on the South coast became Ashton's Capital city and the government moved to new premises eight years later on the 300th birthday of the country. In 1925, the Janslic War saw Saynher Janslic cease to be an Ashtonise territory as it was taken over by neighbouring country Botanikka. As a result of the War of Kingdoms in 1989, Ashton lost the states of Gawinifo and Yanthington along with large proportions of Danslo and Holdworth. These were later returned to the country in 2008. The country has the largest population within Buzzjack at 611.43million. Public transport, Heath and Education, Wealth and Standard of Living are all within the top3 countries in the world as ranked by the UN. In November Fotherington Islands [Known locally as Saynher Janslic] entered the Buzzjack Song Contest with the Sugababes number 1 hit "Push The Button". Following the second contest the Fotherington Islands BJSC Committee announced that their name would be changing to Ashton after the country was reunited with Ashton to make it a state of the Republic of Ashton once more following its independence from Botanikka in 2007 [Very much like East and West Germany in 1989]. Saynher Janslic is the only state within Ashton where Ashtonise is the most spoken language. Law dictates that all sign posts must be in English and Ashtonise. Many legal terms come from Ashtonise as the country draws upon it's own legal precedents instead of relying on the United Kingdom

90's Cheese for Ashton?

After K.O.S shocking artist theft earlier this month the ASC have been searching for a suitable artist to represent them in BJSC IX. Our sources tell us that 90's Cheese act B*Witched have been approached and they are currently in talks with their management.

Our sources also tell us that Cheese Queen Lolly is also in contention for the spot. When asked about this Lolly replied "Oh Mickey what a pity you don't understand you take me by the heart when you take my the hand." Our code cyphers are currently working out if that is a denial or a confirmation. Lolly was a smash hit in Ashton during the '99 recession having 4 #1's before she quit to pursue a TV career in the UK.

It is thought if selected that B*Witched would perform Blame It On The Weatherman (The biggest selling single of '99) and Lolly would perform Mickey.

Members of the ASC were also celebrating their first time at breaking the 100 point barrier and breaking into the 'Big 5'.

The dictator declared the day a national holiday and encouraged Ashtonise nationals to celebrate becoming a 'Big 5' member and the influence that it brings.

Rumours are swirling Ashton about the new Sugababes Single 'Girls'.

The ASC has so far refused to comment on the rumours but have lead us to believe that the girls could be in with a chance for BJSC X

I'm Gonna Mess With Your Mind

The ASC today sensationally unveiled plans for BJSC X.

A spokesperson for The ASC this morning gave the biggest hint that the entrant for BJSC X had been decided. She said a Female Duo had been selected, and that the Duo was made up of two Sisters.

An Insider for this paper has told us that the first line of the song is 'I'm Gonna Mess With Your Mind' and that the chorus has starts 'Go Baby, Go Baby, Go Baby, Go'. Our insider also told us that the song had been covered by a reality TV band from a european country but failed to disclose which one.

The Sugababes were widely rumoured to be in contention for this spot after Amelle Berrabah was seen leaving the Headquarters of The ASC last week.

(Source: Ashton Sun)

Band Confirmed

In a press conference today the ASC announced that the story in yesterdays Ashton Sun was TRUE!

The Duo go by the name of Boo2, and is made up of sisters Amelle and Samiya Berrabah. The song they will perform is called 'Head Bash'.

Boo2 unfortunately no longer perform together due to Amelle being drafted into replace Mutya Buena in London trio the Sugababes.

Amelle had this to say: "I'm very excited at being given this opportunity. When Phil (Dictator of Ashton) said he'd like Boo2 to perform i almost fainted and got straight on the phone to Samiya. Ashton is like a second home to me and the girls (Band mates Keisha and Heidi) we love it here and recently bought a lovely house in the Forthern district of Morepeth Cove so we don't spend three months of the year in a hotel. To represent this fantastic country again is such an honour, we really couldn't compete for another country especially with the way we have treated here. It's not everyday a band is put on a selection committee for a prestigious competition like this one, but thats what you've done and i hope i can repay you by doing well in BJSC X."

The Sugababes are the most successful act in the AMC:Chart history with over 25 number 1 singles under their belt and 6 number 1 albums all of which have sold over 75Million copies in Ashton.

It's Mother Rocking Crazy

Samiya Berrabah has been ruled out of performing in the 10th BJSC after she contracted superbug "C.Diff" whilst recovering in Alder$h!te Hospital from Appendicitis. The news has caused great sadness in Ashton after Boo2 recently hit the top spot on the AMC: Music Charts. We can exclusively reveal to our loyal readers that The ASC has spent the past 24 hours searching for an alternate group to perform in the Kingdom Of Shadow.

In a Statement made earlier today to the papers of Ashton (all 3) by the ASC they confimed that UK girl group the Sugababes would represent Ashton once again.

It is unknown if the track will be their latest single Girls or a track from their two most recent studio albums. Front runners include: Ace Reject, Now You're Gone, Back Down (Live), Girls (Radio Edit), Girls (Danny Dove and Steve Smart Remix) and Never Gonna Dance Again.

(Source: Ashton Sun)

Never Gonna Qualify Again

After an administrive error saw a LQ video for Ashton's Entry (Never Gonna Dance Again) entered the country has gone from having high hopes of a top 10 finish to no hope of qualifying. it is predicted that only 2% of the country will watch the Semi-Final results show and only 4.5% will watch the final.

A far cry from the 99.79% who watched the Final and Resuts Show for BJSC9

AMC:Championing New Music Concert '08

Following SugaGate and the failure to make it through to the BJSCX finals, the ASC (still including the Sugababes) had a meeting.

A unique opportunity had presented itself to Ashton, they could continue as they were using mainly established artists, or switch their focus. Now that they had failed to make the final for the first time in BJSC history the ASC decided that it couldn't hurt to go for a few riskier songs. To mark the occasion the dictator organised a concert aimed at giving new artists a kick start and allowing them to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ashton's most successful artists.

The line-up consisted of:

Red Blooded Women,

Cinderella Theory,

Gabriella Cilmi,

Mutya Buena,

Sugababes,

Camille,

Colbie Caillat,

Laura Critchley,

Dragonette,

Boo2,

Sharleen Spiteri,

Artist X, Album Y, Song Z and a whole lot more

Who is artist x? whats with the hype?

Well this guide should help you understand. Artist X has had their identity hidden from the Buzzjack world but not the domestic news in Ashton.

For the first time we can exclusively tell all.

The hype originated from a code that FSR Rontiva and Ashton were using to communicate about entrants for BJSCXI. The code referred to the Ashtonise entrant as X, hence creating a hype where everyone wanted to know who artist X was. We can confirm that Artist X uses female vocals, the full song and artist details are available at the bottom of the page.

The Album Y, from which Song Z is taken from, has currently sold over 24million copies in the AMC:Music charts.

Artists Stand Up For Artist Changing

Earlier this evening Ashton and Kopecka combined forces and wealth ahead of their shared hosting of the Best Of The Buzzjack Song Contest to form a new charity "Artists Stand Up For Artist Changing". The charity has already received hefty amounts of cash from the Ashtonise and Kopeck Governments.

A concert for Artists Stand Up For Artist Changing was hosted in the newly built Sugatorium to a sell out crowd of 423,000 people from both Ashton and Kopecka. Artists included Janelle, Gabriella Cilmi, Red Blooded Women, Sugababes, Little Boots, Jennifer Saunders, Mutya Buena and Camille.

All the performers sang together on the charity track "Just Change It!" released today. The concert was also broadcast on AMC:1 and AMC:Music

The new charity has formed new links between the two countries and cements their earlier agreement as a force to be reckoned with. Both countries are currently surviving the current Buzzjack economic crisis which has recently claimed Jurabaijan

Gabriella Through To Final

Gabriella Cilmi made it through to the final of BJSCXI from the allegedly tough SF1. The news has brought a wave of relief to the country after failing to qualify for a final for the first time at BJSCX.

A source at ASC told us that they didn't think SF1 was that tough. They infact thought it was half full of $h!t, although they did find ten stunners.

The ASC refused to comment on our sources remarks and we have heard rumours of a employee being jailed for "Lieankonsk" (The crime of potentially harming Ashton's international standing. pronounced Le-an-osk) Ashtonise Central Policing confirmed that a 24year old female had been arrested on suspicion of Lieankonsk.

Ashton confirms BJSCXII

The ASC today confirmed that Lily Allen would once again represent Ashton in their quest for their maiden victory with new song "Everyone's At It".

Lily had this to say: "I really can't wait to be back in Ashton, it's such a lovely country and i really enjoyed BJSCVI. Although i won with Nonsuch, i really would like to bring victory to Ashton for the first time"

Our sources within the ASC say that this could be their best chance at victory since Lily Allen came second in BJSCVI with I Don't Know, widely regarded as Ashton's finest BJSC moment, just ahead of Red Blooded Women making it to 14th.

(Source: Ashton Sun)

Shock Change!

In a shock change, the ASC has announced that Lily Allen will no longer be competing for Ashton. Throwing away what would have been a surefire top 5 finish.

The risky move has allowed Red Blooded Women to once more represent the country, this time with "You Made Your Bed".

The band are said to be elated at the chance to represent the mighty Ashton once again. The band will begin a promotional tour after TBO:BJSCI and is set to take in more countries than Gabriella Cilmi's Month long tour.

In other news, Senior officials at the Ashtonise goverment had told Torchwood to "Get Fucked".

Ashton Makes History

As if being the host of the very first 'The Best Of BJSC' contest was enough, Ashton became the first Host country not to have their entry make the final as both Lily Allen and the Sugababes crashed out of Semi Final 1. Leaving Ashton with no finalists!

There is a ray of hope however, as the Sugababes make it through to the final of the rejects competition with Ashton's only non-qualifier, Never Gonna Dance Again.

The building which sits on Media Square in the heart of the capital is 250years old this year and has recently had a revamp to push capacity from 100,000 to a massive 639,000 by changing the interior layout to a stage with seating on three sides and adding a further four tiers levels of seating above the existing gallery. The refurb makes the MCH the largest concert venue in Buzzjack ahead of the Sugatorium at the Ashtonise International Concert Centre on the outskirts of Morpeth Cove. The new venue has been granted a BJSC licence to allow it to be used in Promotional Tours by foreign acts. The Venue will be opened by Red Blooded Women and the Sugababes on the 30th of November.

The stage is expected to be named 'Red Blooded Stage' after the group Red Blooded Women

Alone - 16th

The ASC today confirmed it was disappointed that Alone finished 16th. Reckoned to be top10 the catchy song by American Lorelei Carlson didn't win the voters in Kopecka. It is the second poor performance in a row from a country that managed 7top10's in 10finals. I-XI, X=DNQ).

Following the shock placing, Ashtonise residents rallied behind the country and the ASC to give them their full support. Next month sees the first Spin-Off since The Best Of contest which Ashton hosted. The once mighty Ashton will be entering the Sugababes classic ballad, Too Lost In You. The song has sold 45million copies in Ashton since it's release and has yet to drop out of the top 100. Following the spin off, Ashton will be contesting XIV with Alex Roots. The ASC is not expecting a good finish, but hopes to achieve a top20 finish.

Looking ahead from the 15th contest, Ashton hopes to continue it's mix of unknown and cheap songs. Artists connected to Ashton include: Cinderella Theory, Laura Critchley & Mutya Buena

Song Confirmed

ASC today confirmed that Alex Roots would represent Ashton with Don't Stop Looking. A video is expected to be made available in the coming days.

Ashton News Update

Republique d'Ashton continues to stick it's middle finger up at the global economic crisis, The AFC (Ashton Finance Committee) calling it a joke.

Sugababes continue to reign over the Ashtonise Charts, latest figures reveal they were the most Successful act of 2008 with 2,998,323,223 Singles/albums sold. Gabriella Cilmi came in second at 2,100,002,202 with Mutya Buena's total marginally less at 2,099,991,339. Laura Critchley's long awaited Ashtonise Debut campaign racked up 1,993,229,294 sales and Lily Allen finished the top 5 with 1,590,535,022 sales

Ashton Successfully completed a time zone shift from GMT to AEST [Australian Eastern Standard Time] (GMT +10) also known as AST(Ashton Standard Time) and is currently trialling life without Daylight Saving.

Too Lost In You marked Ashton's long awaited return to the top 10 in BJSC thanks to the '10 spin off.

XIV sees Lily Allen represent the country for a second time, her current album is on top of the Ashtonise Chart.

XV sees Alex Roots take the Ashtonise Flag with up and coming new acts booked for future contests.

The ASC also announced it's intention to use the Sugababes once more, the exact date is currently unknown.

(Source: ASC, AFC, AshtonSun, AshtonTimes, GRA [Governa Republique d'Ashton])

Ashton's reservation position for XV

It is Ashton's intention to send Alex Roots to the 15th Buzzjack Song Contest as it has been previously announced.

Due to a time zone shift the ASC was unavailable at the time of the opening of the Confirmation Thread and MKL has reserved Alex.

The ASC and the GRA both are giving a period of 5days grace to MKL after which Ashton will use any force it deems necessary to acquire what it wants.

In the meantime the Sugababes have been provisionally confirmed by the country.

Ashton's Shock Change

The ASC has shocked the Republique d'Ashton by confirming Australian band Puretone as Ashton's representative for the 15th BJSC. 'Addicted To Bass' will be representing the mighty Ashton in what will be their 15th contest also in the grand nation of FSR Rontvia.

In a statement, the ASC told MKL to shove Alex where the sun don't shine. The statement also read "It's f***ing rude and down right ignorant to go around stealing other peoples entries. If MKL do enter Alex, they can be sure that they won't get a single point from Ashton"

Song switch

Ashton has sensationally switched their entry from Addicted To Bass to Stuck In A Groove both my Australian dance artist Puretone.

Known in his native Australia by his real name Josh G. Abrahams, he released international under the name of Puretone to avoid confusion with long time Limp Bizkit producer Josh Abrahams. Vocalist, Amiel Daemion, features on much of the former Ashtonise #1 album which goes by the name of Stuck In A Groove. Thrillseeker and Headroom were also released in Ashton to much success.

The full reasons behind the switch are unknown, but in a statement the ASC said they felt Stuck In A Groove would perform better than Addicted To Bass. Which they felt was too well known and too recent to be a forgotten hit. The ASC is hoping that the former UK #27 will out perform the #2 Addicted To Bass.

The ASC has brought out it's new promo banner early featuring the new tagline "Bring Ashton it's debut victory. Vote for the best thing to come out of Australia" Replacing the former 'Ashton - The Most Successful Country Yet To Win BJSC'

It is hoped that Ashton will break the 1000 points barrier this month, currently 5points away some insiders from the ASC have set a realistic target of 1100 this month. They feel that Puretone has the potential to beat the current Ashtonise points record of 109points.

Could Ashton be going Australian for some time??

Reports from the ASC state that Ashton will only be sending Australain artists until at least July.

The document released to the Ashtonise press ahead of the countries first Elections details Ashtons plans through to the 20th contest although sources say that the ASC has an outline that extends all the way to the 25th contest, something the ASC neither confirmed or denied.

The release states that Ashton has a wide pool of talent at it's disposal and it will be exploiting it to try and obtain the countries first victory. It is thought Gabriella Cilmi will finally return for her 3rd contest with a cover of a well known song. Once more the ASC neither confirmed or denied that it was Cry Me A River. A song which has been linked with Cilmi, Ashton and the BJSC for a year. after the Change tour  It is also understood that Ashton has found some unknown acts to enter from a specific source which is being kept a heavily guarded secret.

The Veronica's have also been linked with Ashton for the song 4Ever

It is expected that Ashton will enter Gabriella Cilmi in XVI, and that Artist X will be pushed to July at the earliest.

Ashton & BJSC XV -> XVII

The ASC today unveiled its proposed entries to the next two contests. They are set to be:

XVI - Natalie Bassingthwaighte - Catch Me If You Can.

XVII - Gabriella Cilmi - Live Cover of either Whole Lotta Love or Cry Me A River.

The ASC also revealed its full position over the MF fallout. They said that Ashton is fully commited until XVIII at which point we shall re-evaluate the countries position within BJSC. The ASC pledged to continue fighting for the NF ban to be overturned, stating it was hypocritical and unfair.

Ashton currently has no desire to withdraw from the contest, but after taking a step back for he next 3 contests will assess where the contest is headed and make a full decision on the countries future once it has returned to GMT. AshBet is offering odds of the country withdrawing after XVIII at 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999/1.

The ASC wishes to stay competing for the great benefits the contest brings, but is concerned about the contests future

All Change!

Following a shock discovery, the ASC has changed Ashton's entry to the 15th Buzzjack Song Contest to Icelandic male Haffi Haff.

The song, Give Me Sexy is an electropop, synthtastic, catchy slice slice of Scandipop perfection.

The ASC hopes that they can pull Ashton out of the rut it has fallen into with new and exciting songs. The shock change throws the plans for XVI and XVII into disarray with AshBet favouring Artist X for XVI over Australian Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

Haffi Haff will be Ashton's first male participant in the contest which it has participated in since it's conception in November 2007.

XVI decided

Big shocks within Ashton as it changes course for XVI again.

Originally Republique d'Ashton were set too send a Natalie Bassingthwaighte led song, but ditched its plan for a more risky approach, even mentioning Artist X and Boo2 as forerunners in the race for the highly coveted spot.

The ASC today sensationally revealed that Australian Jessica Mauboy would be representing Republique d'Ashton in their 16th contest with Australian single 'Burn'.

The press release details that the President discovered the song on RadioQ's Billboard station on a Domestic Qantash flight from the Ashtonise Grand Prix in Sanvoria's rapidly expanding state capital - Torevale to the Capital Morpeth Cove.

Third Time Lucky For RBW???

The ASC today confirmed that Red Blooded Women would make a return to the Buzzjack Song Contest for their third attempt at victory with Ashton.

They shall be singing new single, Enjoy The Silence, a cover of the Depeche Mode classic.

Jessica Mauboy was reportedly given the elbow after the Ashtonise ePress labelled her too safe for modern Ashton.

It has yet to be decided if it will be the Single Edit or the 7th Heaven Remix of ETS.

Aussies back in for XVI??

With the ASC seemingly as indecisive as ever, new reports from within Ashton House suggest that the Aussie's plan could be back in full force. It has been suggested that Gabriella Cilmi could return for her third attempt next month with an amazing cover.

Also further linked with the spot is So You Think You Can Dance Ashton host Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Her former band, the Rouge Traders were spotted leaving Ashton House yesterday afternoon with Natalie after a meeting with the ASC. The ASC has confirmed they had contacted the Rouge Traders with a view to them representing Ashton in the Buzzjack Song Contest and that they had met to discuss this yesterday. They did not reveal which contest they had been discussing.

Jessica Mauboy had initially been confirmed as the representative for XVI with the song Burn after it rocketed to the top of the Ashtonise charts.

Ashton Just Can't Get Enough!!

Posted by: Admin, 09/04/2009 - 18:05

Ashton just can't get enough of changing artists. This morning, Lorikeet representatives The Saturdays were seen leaving Ashton House [home of the ASC] and were swiftly followed by The Sugababes. This further fuelled rumours of a Ashtonise NF to be hosted by Amelle Berrabah, host of Buzzjack's most watched Daytime TV show.

The ASC refused to comment on The Saturdays representing the once mighty nation, or on a return for the Sugababes. Instead the ever crafty ASC told us "An announcement will be made regarding XVI in due course."

Don't you just love it when the ASC can't make their minds up!!!

The latest rumour to come from the ASC will further fuel rumours that Ashton could have it's first National Final. Likely to be hosted by Afternoon Avec Amelle.

As usual with all things Ashton, you can bet that it'll be far from a usual NF.

In what seems to be a period of firsts, Republique d'Ashton will be following their first male entry with their first National Final. The National Final is to be called "Quin Entiet l'Ashton" which properly translated into English means "Winning Entry for Ashton" referring not only to the fact that the winner will represent Ashton, but that Ashton is assigning more resources to obtaining it's debut win in the Buzzjack Song Contest.

A full entry list for the once in a lifetime spectacular event will be announced within the next 36hours and will include multiple songs by some of the artists nominated. Artist X will also be in contention for the spot, and if they are unsuccessful will be used in the 17th contest.

Exit Polls

The people of Demicrata Republique d'Ashton voted in their millions for Ashton's next BJSC entry.

Exit polls suggest a three horse race between Jessica Mauboy's Burn, Cinderella Theory's IN2U and Alex Root's Don't Stop Looking.

Morpeth, Ashton's Smallest state has already counted the 45million votes it received from the residents of the Ashtonise Capital Territory. IN2U is thought to have 'won' Morpeth. While Sanvoria, the largest state when the LRP is finished, has reported that 123million people voted in the region. Exit polls suggest Burn has 'won' Sanvoria with Don't Stop Looking thought to be right on it's heels.

Ashton to Shun Fortunia?

Ashton could be boycotting Fortunia, and anything that they send in the future.

They have been formally removed from the Ashtonise map and all Fortuni Citizens have been removed from Ashton and visa's will not be handed out to any of them.

Any person of Fortunia nationality or carrying a Fortunia passport will be shot on sight. Ashton has removed all it's citizens from the hell hole and put a bar on any citizens going there in the future.

Don't Stop Listening to Don't Stop Looking

"Don't stop listening to Don't Stop Looking and give Republique d'Ashton their debut victory in the 16th Buzzbjack Song Contest" is the tagline to Ashton's 16th entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest, and reaffirms that the country is going for gold.

Ashton has yet to win a contest and with 1060 points it's the most successful country not to have done so, but the ASC was not happy, 4th in the all time points rankings without a win and a DNQ in the 10th contest was not good enough, something had to change.

The return of Red Blooded Women in XII heralded the beginning of a new era for Ashton. Risks FTW. Lorelei Carlson, the first american to represent Ashton followed on, and despite a minor glitch in XIV when Lily Allen was sent, Haffi continued the momentum. Give Me Sexy was the first song to use male vocals for Ashton, and Haffi was the countries first Icelandic representative.

On to XVI and Alex Roots has tough time ahead. Gabriella Cilmi and The Sugababes were both been in contention for this spot, Alex has a lot to prove.

Don't Stop Looking ticks the box and then some, set to top the Ashtonise chart at the weekend, the rocky pop song is just over 3minutes in length and packs a catchy hook, a superb backing track, and a female lead. Very much a Ashtonise sounding song!

With Alex Roots set to be followed by Cinderella Theory and the critically acclaimed IN2U, it appears that Ashton is ready to make 'Risks FTW' a winning strategy.

Don't Stop Qualifying!

Alex Roots qualifies for the final of the 16th Buzzjack Song Contest, making her the 15th Ashtonise entry to do so. The Republic is once more holder of the most final appearances record after Kopecka's shock DNQ see them draw level with Mdice and Ashton.

The ASC is delighted that Alex has made it through, and has renewed faith of Alex making it into the top 10 in Mdice this weekend. The ASC are hopeful that the same fate that Haffi was subjected to will not happen to Alex, 3rd in the semi to 23rd is a feat that the ASC never wants to happen again.

Ashton are determined to hold their 4th place in the all time rankings.

XVII Confirmation

Republique d'Ashton can confirm that they will be sending Cinderella Theory to XVII with the song IN2U.

The song by the London based Trio was writtien by Corrine and David Brant for the band. Since leaving the band it has been confirmed the song will remain a Demo track, and Ashton is thrilled to be entering the track with full backing of the artist. Like RBW in XII

Republique d'Ashton romp into 5th in Mdice!

The Republic of Ashton [Officially, Republique d'Ashton] broke their points record and poor streak as Alex romped home in 5th place with 113 points in Mdice. After a slow start, Alex leapt up the leader board into the top5. Progressing into the top3 for a while. Clinging on to 5th in the final stages Alex's triumph makes it Ashton's first top 5 placing in the Buzzjack Song Contest since the Sugababes and Lily Allen lead an Ashtonise invasion into the top of the score board in V and VI. The previous points record of 109, held by Amy MacDonald [iX] was broken by a Ten points from Utopia, putting Alex on 110, a further 3 points strengthened her record and 5th position.

The ASC aims to continue the momentum into XVII after the spin off and has announced that Cinderella Theory and Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir are the two acts in contention for the coveted spot with IN2U and Funny Thing Is respectively.

ASC confirm Ashtonise participation in Spin Off.

The ASC can confirm that Republique d'Ashton will be participating in the second BJSC Spin Off. Rumours appearing within the Ashtonise press that the country would refuse to compete are false, and the ASC can confirm that after advertising for a entrant to come forward, Molly Sanden has been selected to represent Republique d'Ashton at the Spin Off.

Molly Sanden, born 1992, competed for Sweden in Junior Eurovision in 2006 where she came 3rd. She entered Sweden's National Final for the ESC earlier this year where she finished 8th.

Molly sings in Swedish and will be representing Ashton with Karlek.

The song will make it's Ashtonise Premier tonight, with the video being placed on Youtube shortly. In the mean time the song is available on her Myspace.

Republique d'Ashton goes Scandinavian!

Following Alex Roots success in Mdice, The Republic of Ashton have announced the two artists who they hope will continue their success in the second spin off and the 17th Buzzjack Song Contest.

Representing Republique d'Ashton in the Spin Off will be Swedish singer Molly Sanden with her song Karlek.

Representing Republique d'Ashton in BJSC XVII will be Norwegian and former Tinnmark entrant Tone Damli Aaberge with her Melodi Grand Prix song Butterflies.

Molly Comes Top10, ASC confirm penalty system

Molly Sanden and Karlek has come 10th in the BJSC:Spin Off II making it a second top 10 for the country in the spin offs. The nail biting contest in Hendinia saw Ashton get off to a slow start, but quickly climbed the leader board with a string of votes that saw Ashton and Molly in =4th at one point before slipping to 12th and rebounding in the final vote to =9th. Coming 10th on tie break. Molly received points from 13 of the 31 countries.

The ASC also confirmed that they do use a penalty system for voting in the BJSC. It has been suspected that a system was in use after Mutya Buena only received 8points in VIII with Strung Out, her 5th Ashtonise single and 5th solo number one which has sold over 30million copies. The ASC reviled it docked points from the songs which are graded out of 20 in Ashton for being overtly Cheap. I.e. being in the top5 of the influential UK charts. Minor points are deducted for being a release schedule pick, although the amount deducted depends on the proximity to release and the popularity of the track within Ashton. A large televote score can save a RSP. The ASC refused to confirm the existence of a political penalty, which is what it is widely thought Strung Out was subjected too.

Subject to much debate, Mutya Buena has been selected to represent the Fotherington Islands at BJSC2.

The song, chosen yesterday, is an unreleased demo track. All shall be reviled following the competition opening.

Song News

The Fotherington Sun is reporting that the official entry for BJSC2 is a track called Addiction.

Dictator f1mad would neither confirm or deny these rumours.

The "journalist" that wrote this story, a miss Victoria Newton, has been missing since the early hours of this morning :smoke:

Meanwhile

The FI Record is reporting that one of the two songs that was in the running for use in BJSC2 is called 'Darkside'.

Dictator f1mad has confirmed that this is a Mutya Buena track, but remained tight lipped about the selection status of the song

Who is right? who is wrong? are they both right? :o or are the both wrong?
