You get two „votes“ at Holyrood. You vote for a direct mandate for the constituency. Then you also vote on a regional list for a form of proportional representation. The parties encourage „both votes X“ but some indie parties only stand on the list and encourage usually an SNP Constituency, Us for the List approach.
