Posted September 13, 200915 yr Steve's Album Chart Prediction Game for 20th September Round 2 Hello and welcome to the second edition of this new album chart prediction game. This is what you have to do, each week i will ask you to predict the top 5 albums and predict where 5 new releases will peak. The scores work like this, If you get the correct position i will give you 10 points, 9 points if you are 1 position away etc. etc. If you get the top 5 correct you will get a bonus 20 points, if you get the 5 new releases right you will get 20 bonus points and if you get all right you can put an extra 10 points on. I will also ask to questions each week, and they will always be: What album will occupy the #40 position? (4 points) Which albums do you think will fall the most within the Top 75? (3 points) Which albums do you think will climb the most within the Top 75? (3 points) so you can get yourself a maximum amount of points of 160. No entries posted after 10 am on Tuesday mornings will count, I will also check for edits after that point. This is just a 4 week trial to see how I cope with doing it. ========================================================= Please Predict The UK's Top 5 Albums for Sunday 20th September 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. (3 points) Taylor Swift - Fearless I have no real idea when it comes to albums, but it was the same last week when I came 2nd. I think you are right about having no idea. Firstly, Muse are a CERT for #1. They may outsell Pixie Lott 2:1 or even more. Secondly, a David Gray album would never flop in a million years. His first three studio albums were all #1, and while this one will miss that by a while, it will not be 76+. Thirdly, I would fully expect Rodrigo Y Gabriela to drop out of the top 75. (note: none of this is meant to be rude, I'm proving your point )
September 14, 200915 yr I seem to do rubbish when it comes to albums chart predictions. It's just that it's... less predictable than the singles chart. Edit: Also, I lack knowledge about their previous albums, etc. So, possibly, I also have no real idea when it comes to albums. Edited September 14, 200915 yr by FM11

September 15, 200915 yr Well I thought...Pixie beat Muse in the singles charts this week  I've heard of David Gray, but I can't name a single one of his songs, I didn't know he was so popular I thought dropping out of the top 75 would count as falling the most  Just also want to add that I thought Taylor Swift would climb the most (as I also thing "You Belong With Me" will also make the UK top 40 for the first time, because of last night Thanks for backing up my point  Pixie may > Muse in singles, but you have to remember their respective selling points - Pixie's album is a debut so it was unlikely to be that huge anyway, but the singles have done well so she is supposedly going to be a singles artist - massive singles but floppy albums. However, I reckon her singles both went to #1 due to low sales as evidenced by MD's speedy drop and low overall sales. Back to my point, Muse have never really been a singles artist - they've had exactly 4 top ten singles in a, what, 10 year career? But their albums always do really well, and seeing as it's outselling 2-7 combined in today's mids, that ain't changing! I didn't particularly know David Gray was ever that successful either, but I did some research and it turns out he was pretty huge before. And it's biggest fall WITHIN the top 75 - a drop of #1 to #76 would be beaten by a drop of #1 to #2. Dropping out is not a fall, but just that, a dropout. And while I agree that Taylor will probably make a decent climb with 'Fearless' (though I still doubt the single will go near the top 40), I went for Muse anyway because I think that'll climb more. And you're welcome! =D
September 15, 200915 yr It's not certain that Turn It Up will be a floppy album. "Adult" contemporary albums with hits tend to do well and even better when advertised. (Look at Jason Mraz's 'We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things').
