The cinematography is stunning and visually it is amazing. It is far too long though and didn't need to be. Plus I would have liked something a bit easier to follow.

It's grown on me with a second viewing, but I'd like it much more if it was shorter.

This vid also reminds me of Ace of Base's Happy Nation video too

Somebody on another forum I used has given a clear insight into the video.. And I think its beautiful.

 

Gaga is the commander of this army. The video starts with Gaga and her troops mourning the loss of one of the soldiers. You see her training them, etc. Toward the end, you see how one guy didn't like what was going on and was the cause of the violence that you see going on (which killed the soldier they're mourning at the beginning). So essentially, she's training them to go out and fight for their freedom.

I fully agree with the previous comments. It's like she has done 8 minutes because she wanted a 8 min video, not because the song, the concept or the scenario required it.

Some of the extended bits are visually very repetitive, that's why I don't get it. And although the video as a whole is good, this was not necessary.

 

In short, the video would have been great in her initial length. Now it's far too long. I don't think I will watch it dozens of times like for "Telephone". "Telephone" was like 10 minutes long but it sounded like 3 minutes, therefore it was brillant.

The short/TV edit might make it like it more.

The video confused me but I love it. Nice imagery. Well done Gaga. :D

Awful video. Truly awful. Except, of course, the dancing routine which was as always stunning and unique. Especially in the 4-5 minute region, which is by FAR the best part of the whole thing.

Maybe subconsciously i do think that such video is too bad for GaGa, but would be good some other 'lower level' artist... But i believe that it's not the main reason. The conception is far too complicated for my i-like-the-obvious-things mind :( A little bit try-hard too. She could've done it in a simple manner like she used to. Telephone video was epic but she should've done this 8-minute 'epicness' with the 4th single!

Yeah I agree the concept is far too complicated and not really explained well ... but I love the cinematography and I think it's shot really well. Not my favourite GaGa video but it's nice enough.

After having watched it 6 times, i LOVE it :wub: I don't think its too long AT ALL, the longer the GaGa video the better :P

The only ignorant person here is you. I didn't insult yourself or GaGa, or this video. I just didn't like it. And i'm a GaGa fan. So either create your own 'only for people who love everything GaGa does' forum or learn to respect another opinion.

^ a good point. I'm a big GaGa fan and I'm not really liking this. It's ok, but it's very self-indulgent. Telephone and Paparazzi might be seen that way too but somehow the song warranted it. Also the whole "epic" video was new, this seems to be 8mins for the sake of it.

Agreed :lol: Like it a lot, though to be honest I find the first half really boring (the guys are not my type :lol:) It picks up in the second half though. A little self-indulgent. But good enough :)

It's good, a bit long... dragged towards end.
