Last year, they announced the format of the selection pretty early (ALW made his announcement before an episode of Strictly, which has now returned). ALW is doing Wizard of Oz next year, which means there probably won't be a Saturday night slot available for a selection, at least not in January :( I think the BBC may want to announce the entry early, so whoever represents us can tour Europe again. I hope they announce plans soon, but if there isn't a slot for a national selection, maybe they will opt for internal. And I think it could be best to have the song chosen for us, otherwise the public could go back to choosing the worst song. Any ideas?

Maybe they'll ask Keisha?

The Saturdays performed on YCNY, I've always thought they'd be good, plus one of them was a backing singer for Ireland in 2006. Or the Noisettes.

Duncan from Blue? He was our spokesperson, and another member from Blue (Anthony?) tried out in 2006.

Mika? He seems the type that would be willing to do it.

Sugababes v.4? Dunno if Jade would be wanting to do it a second year in a row. They could do up-tempo, that worked for Azerbaijan & Turkey.

Paloma Faith? She's known, but not too known, as in, "New York" hasn't made the top 10.

Lady GaGa? (I know, she's American). Kind of a joke, but she's crazy, and you've got to be crazy to do Eurovision.

Booty Luv? Not unknown, but not too successful.

Johnny Logan? I've heard that he's been approached by three countries, one of which is meant to be France. I think the other two or Ireland & UK, because I don't know which other countries think they have a chance of him writing them a song.

Hadise? I heard that she'd said she'd consider representing us if she gets a recording contract over here. (Hope not though, I thought her singing was bad on the night).

Now I need YOUR ideas.

Oh, and what about for other countries? I want Agnes for Sweden, then Alphabeat/Aqua/Medina for Denmark. How about The Script for Ireland? Enrique for Spain? Maybe even those sisters from X Factor, you know, the ones from Lithuania :P

GaGa

now then we'd win!

I imagine the BBC will think 'we wanted to prove that we could get a hit and we got one...back to the cheap selection format with a novelty entry destined for the bottom three this year' :snif:

We'd win with GaGa, she's popular everywhere, "Poker Face" was #1 in a lot of countries.

I think the BBC has been asking big acts, who'd said no because they thought the UK would never do well. Now the BBC have proved that the UK can do well, some big acts might be willing to do it if asked. I mean, if ALW can take the risk, then any well-known singer can.

I actually heard they were doing the same format again... Gary Barlow or Elton John being the major candidates for the songwriter. I think they'll be looking for a male act this time too, after last year's winner, unless they haven't progressed since Nicki French (who I love but anyway...)

Alphabeat/Aqua/Medina for Denmark. How about The Script for Ireland? Enrique for Spain?

Yes oh god yes  The Script wouldn't do well tbh. Enrique actually almost hosted one year, but they weren't paying enough

I heard about YCNY, but with Elton John. I think that would be good, but if that's true, then it'll need to be announced in the next couple of weeks, so people have time to audition, and do the selection early on so that they can send the winner for a tour of Europe like they did with Jade. I dunno when "Wizard of Oz" is meant to start, but Graham Norton is probably hosting that, so I dunno if he'd be able to do both.

And when did Enrique almost host? Spain haven't hosted Eurovision recently, have they?

I don't think we'll be having another multi-week selection this year, as "So You Think You Can Dance" is running from January to March.

I'm also very very worried about whether or not Graham Norton will be able to do commentary again because of this new ALW show....

I'm worried about that too. I thought I read somewhere that he considered it a one-off :snif:

Gutted!!!!

Maybe he'll reconsider after the positive reactions.

I'm beginning to think that the whole of last year was just a one-off for the UK :(

Next stop Barrowman.

John Barrowman wouldn't be too bad as a commentator, and I think Alan Carr would do a good job except I think he's with Channel 4, but Graham would be my first choice.

I don't mind doing a one-week show (just a national final), but I think the BBC would need to put only serious songs in the selection, so that the public don't have a joke entry to pick. But with "So You Think You Can Dance" and the ALW thing, maybe the BBC will think that they don't have time for a national selection at all, and go for an internal selection. I trust them to pick an ok song, or at least, not a really bad song.

They tried to take it seriously in 2008 and that was just a disaster!! OK our entry was marginally better than Scooch but the selection as a whole was dreadful.

I don't think the BBC will ever select internally...there would be an outcry from the public. We'll have a one night selection I'd say but we'll be back to how were were a few years back :(

Even If was a terrible entry, it was a nothing song, so boring that I couldn't even force myself into it like I can with most UK entries...

The Revelations were the best song there with It's You, which I absolutely adored

I liked it at the time, but on reflection, it was very bland, although it didn't deserve to come last. Funny how The Revelations finally got released last August (by then, it totally flopped, of course!)

I really hoped that they had started a new tradition :( Why give up on something so successful? They could always have the heats on BBC3 and the final on BBC1. Either that, or we should go back to the ancient format, pick one successful and popular performer (though no-one springs to mind right now that would actually do it) and give people a choice of 5 songs... Sonia was the last person to do that in 1992...

I HATED "Even If". I like The Revelations, Simona & Rob.

We need to trick someone into doing it. Tell Leona Lewis that she's doing a gig in Oslo next year, and that she needs to be their a week beforehand to rehearse. The other singers are ALL her supporting acts :heehee: I'm sure she won't bother suing the BBC when she comes away with a victory

  Perfect idea!

or Esmee Denters...

why they constantly send mediocre nothingness I don't know :(

How come its always the Dutch singers that have success from YouTube?

But to be honest, I'm not really a fan of "Outta Here"

I thought they were doing the same as this year for next year, but ALW is not taking part in it no more, with a different host.
