It’s just turned into a comedy meme it seems rather than having any impact on the music.

Football creating the most movement in the charts for months - Three Lions, Wonderwall, Vindaloo, Sweet Caroline, Dai Dai, Waka Waka. The impact would have been insane had we made the final / won.

🤣🤣🤣 I guess everyone is just skipping past all the tracks ahead of it then on every playlist? Just because you make things up in your head it dosent make it fact - every post is continually trying to drag down the song and its success its exhausting, we all understand you hate the song and the singers and are absolutely LIVID at its success. She’s on some pretty huge playlists and had massive World Cup exposure (20 million watched across BBC and ITV) and is the #5 current most streamed artist on global Spotify, so if it can’t knock off a year old, 17 week #1 track then… (I love it btw just saying). Amazing for Shakira, so good to see her getting a big hit - not surprised it’s had such a big boost it was basically played on repeat during the trophy lift at the World Cup 🤣

I think it’ll go ACR after it’s current stint - I know it’s avoided it before but it had a big boost from the Sam/Capaldi collab and is declining this week. It could make it to 20 weeks though before it does hit ACR though.

I don’t disagree something needs to be done but creating more charts just makes a farce of the actual charts - the charts are meant to represent the most popular tracks not the newest, current/new artists, songs that haven’t made the Top 40 before etc., We’ll end up with Billboard style charts with one for every genre and exclusion.

44k I guess neither fanbase are big streamers.

One More Time

The thing is the charts are not meant to show what’s new or fresh they are meant to show what’s popular. There is a major issue at the moment with newer artists seemingly not connecting with audiences - but I think that’s a bigger issue as how can new artists get their music out there to the masses, radio and TV is not as effective as it used to be, and plonking a song on a streaming playlist is not the answer - it might create inflated streams and maybe a chart entry but not convinced it’ll help long term.

This - didn’t think it would trouble the Top 20 at one point!

Shakira certainly getting the plays/promo in the trophy presentation - could get a boost.

Average 3-4 million for The One Show, Graham Norton 3 million, Sunday Brunch 800k - decent for most artists to get that kind of exposure.
