June 30, 200619 yr Author 100. The Corrs-Dreams http://eil.com/newgallery/The-Corrs-Dreams-133553b.jpg Year: 1998 Chart Run: N/A (Chart started in 1999) Info: The Corrs big breakthrough single, Dreams propelled them from nobodies in the UK to somebody's thanks to a Todd Terry remix of their Fleetwood Mac cover version. The song reached No.6 in the UK and with an Oriental video helped the album Talk On Corners to become 1998's biggest seller!!! Reason I love it: This isn't the last time you will see The Corrs. A fantastic cover version really brought to life by Todd Terry, its a pleasure to listen to and performed live, its phenomenal
June 30, 200619 yr Author 99. Minimalistix-Close Cover http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0000630AJ.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 3-OUT-2-5-OUT-3-1-1-4-4 Info: Also called The Piano Track, and now a trance classic, Close Cover from Belgian production team, Minimalistix was a standout quality original dance track from 2002 in a year of 80's cover versions and it reached No.12 in the UK. Reason I Love It: Its just a great uplifting track. The fact that it managed to claw its way back into my top 5 on a number of separate occasions shows that its a track that I could never get bored of. I even learnt how to play it on the keyboard. A standout of 2002!!!
June 30, 200619 yr Author 98. Masai-Heaven And Hell http://www.pushposters.co.uk/new/thumbs/c/S_c01473.jpg Year: 2001 Chart Run: 5-4-OUT-5-5-OUT-5 Info: UK female duo Anna and Sharon make up Masai...one of my favourite acts of the last five years, other singles, Kick Back and their biggest hit, Do That Thang (UK No.42, spent 4 weeks at my No.1 in 2003) just missed this top 100. They supported Westlife but never really went anywhere... Reason I love it: A laidback pop tune which I first heard on a Smash Hits CD and later bought on single, it was a shame it flopped but I've never gone off it and like No.99, it returned to the chart a number of times...
June 30, 200619 yr Author 97. The Corrs-No Frontiers http://www.corrsonline.com/archives/videoreleases/vcd/corrs_unplugged_1.jpg Year: 1999 Chart Run: 4-1-2-1 Info: Another cover and another Corrs track, Caroline and Sharon took lead vocals on this track for the only time in Corrs history which appeared on the Unplugged album, top 10 at christmas 1999. A beautiful ballad, it was a highlight of the concert. Reason I love it: Sharon and Caroline both have great voices and should be given a bigger chance to shine. It really kicked off at the chorus which makes the song a classic which the Corrs do justice to. Sharon sung it very well live on her own when I saw the band in concert too!!!
June 30, 200619 yr Author 96. Robert Miles feat Maria Nayler-One and One http://www.niksula.cs.hut.fi/~rsirokov/covers/robert_miles_-_one_and_one.jpg Year: 1996/2000 Chart Run: 1-1-3-2-2-2-2-5 Info: Italian Roberto Concina's second biggest hit after the monster hit Children, it managed a No.3 peak in the UK and featured the vocals of Maria Nayler. This excellent track has a brilliant piano solo about 2 and a half minutes into the radio edit which really cements its place in history. Reason I love it: I only picked up on this track in 2000, when I got Dreamland, Miles' album in a sale. This track could not be left out of my chart and went on to spend 2 months in my top 5...a track which never seems to age, I still love it
June 30, 200619 yr Author 95. Vanilla Ninja-Cool Vibes http://www.bros-ftp.com/bros-music.com/news/bilder/20_8_h.jpg Year: 2005 Chart Run: 2-2-2-2-2-5 Info: Estonian girlband Vanilla Ninja have been successful over Europe for a few years and they entered this gothic pop tune into the Eurovision 2005 for Switzerland. It spent a record 5 weeks at its peak of No.2 but could never quite make the top...still worthy of the top 100 best songs ever though... Reason I love it: Just a brilliant song and not the typical Eurovision type of song. A great and very catchy pop song it was my favourite song of the 2005 contest. It ended up 8th but I kept on loving it for months and their album was more of the same!!!
June 30, 200619 yr Cool out of the first six I tihnk I've only heard Corrs - Dreams and Vannilla Ninja - very good songs. Did you only used to have five songs on your chart then?
July 1, 200619 yr Author Cool out of the first six I tihnk I've only heard Corrs - Dreams and Vannilla Ninja - very good songs. Did you only used to have five songs on your chart then? Cheers David-yep from 1999 until the start of 2004 I only had a top 5 before turning it into a top 10 and then a top 20 hence the top 5 chart runs :D
July 1, 200619 yr Author High praise for Robert Miles from Mikey and Jester...I always loved One and One more than Children :-) Fable's good too!!!
July 3, 200619 yr Author 94. The Corrs-Erin Shore http://www.zero.co.nz/music/images/The%20Corrs%20-%20Forgiven%20Not%20Forgotten.jpg Year: 1995/1999 Chart Run: 5-5 Info: Also known as Lough Erin Shore and regularly performed live by the band, sometimes as an intro to Forgiven Not Forgotten, the intro and outro of their debut album is one of their finest hours and certainly the band's best instrumental track Reason I love it: A beautiful Irish instrumental which really screams of its Irish heritage, you can almost imagine a video set by some crashing waves. It builds up dramatically and is fantastic live with all percussion. A masterpiece which gets better over time!!!
July 3, 200619 yr Author 93. Delta Goodrem-Electric Storm http://graphics.sonymusic.com.au/gallery/medium/DeltaGoodrem149.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 3-2-2-3-5-OUT-4 Info: The first song on the countdown for Australian star Ms Goodrem who also has my top 2 favourite albums of all time. Dramatic album track Electric Storm was inspired by her rocky media relationship during her romance with tennis player Mark Phillipoussis Reason I love it: A fantastic song which will always remind me of xmas 2004 due to the amount I was listening to it, it was a standout on the excellent Mistaken Identity and was only kept at No.2 due to a song that appears much later in the top 5 best songs ever...
July 3, 200619 yr Author 92. The Corrs-Queen of Hollywood http://www.jonathanshaw.com/Archival%20Pictures/thumbnails/TNJonathanCorrs.JPG Year: 1997/1999 Chart Run: 2-2-OUT-4-4-2-4 Info: One of the band's most famous album tracks and a standout at the end of Talk On Corners (the multi-million selling album), Queen of Hollywood is a gorgeous track with an outstanding melody which is extremely catchy... Reason I love it: Another song on the countdown which just failed to make No.1 despite trying on 3 occasions, this song is a classic for me and the reason I keep Talk on Corners on right through to the last few tracks. Most Corrs fans love this one!!!
July 3, 200619 yr Author 91. Zero 7 feat Sia-Somersault http://eil.com/newGallery/Zero-7-Somersault-284697.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 3-2-1-2-3-5-3-2-5 Info: A minor UK hit single for chillout act Zero 7. Once again sung by Australian singer Sia, this song has a laidback feel that just captures you and draws you in. Surprisingly not their highest single on this countdown, its one of 2004's classics for me: Reason I love it: Just a cool summer tune. I didn't get bored of it in 2004 and it spent 9 weeks in my top 5. Nothing outstanding or surprising about the song, just something that was the soundtrack to my summer two years ago!!! Edited July 3, 200619 yr by gooddelta
July 4, 200619 yr Author 90. Milk Inc-In My Eyes http://sqd.ru/img/milk_inc.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 1-3-4-2-5 Info: Some classic Belgian trance from the year 2002, that also bought us Minimalistix, Lasgo, Dee Dee, Ian Van Dahl and countless other great Belgian acts, Regi and Linda stormed to the UK top 10 twice once with this and also with the follow up Walk On Water...another song of there's is to come later on... Reason I love it: Just a brilliant dance track and one of the most memorable fresh dance tracks of 2002 (a la not a cover or a sample). Milk Inc are huge all over Europe and showed flashes of greatness here with 3 top 20 hits-this song is short but sweet and great to put a smile on your face!!!
July 4, 200619 yr Author 89. ATB-Too Much Rain http://communities.zeelandnet.nl/data/show/upload/fotos/atb.jpg Year: 1999 Chart Run: 5-OUT-5-OUT-4-OUT-4-OUT-5-OUT-3 Info: A dramatic track that only appears on the German version of ATB's debut album Movin' Melodies, it was cut from the UK release which is a shame as it is absolutely excellent. Reason I love it: The building intro which slowly builds up through thunder and lightning sound effects. After about two minutes the song reflects a sky clearing and becomes a great and tranquil uplifting slice of dance. It spent a almost year in my top 10, most of its time at No.7 with 5 non-consecutive dips into the top 5... Edited July 4, 200619 yr by gooddelta
July 6, 200619 yr Author 88. York-On The Beach http://www.mattscdsingles.com/acatalog/27303.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 1-3-2-5 Info: German production duo and siblings York, interestingly coming in just ahead of ATB with whom they successfully duetted on The Fields of Love. This remake of the Chris Rea classic made No.4 in the UK and was one of 5 top 5 hits for them in my chart along with The Awakening (2), Reachers of Civilization (2), The Fields of Love (4) and Farewell to the moon (5)... Reason I love it: Now seen as a eurodance classic, this really stuck out back in 2000 as a great cover version. Completely different to the original and of a higher class than most dance covers, it just felt very summery and uplifting!!!
July 6, 200619 yr Author 87. Zero 7-Destiny http://www.ab-cd.com/images/items/UDRCDSO43.jpg Year: 2001 Chart Run: 1-1 Info: The highest song from the UK duo, Destiny was their debut and it swept me away. Only a No.30 hit in the UK, it helped their debut album Simple Things to sell very well and ensure a bright future that has so far included 2 top 5 albums. It features the vocals of Sophie Barker and Sia Furler. Reason I love it: Just one of 2001's most classy moments, a lovely chillout vibe and a brilliant melody with some thoughtful lyrics. All the parts were put into place and Sophie and inparticular Sia's gorgeous vocals ensured a fortnight at No.1 in my chart for this one!!!
