86. Gina G-Ooh aah...just a little bit

http://www.leninimports.com/gina_g_gallery_1.jpg

Year: 1996

Chart Run: N/A

Info: The UK's Eurovision entry for 1996 was from Australian Gina Gardiner who had achieved moderate success over there. The upbeat Hi-NRG now karaoke classic eventually peaked at No.1 in the UK despite coming only 8th in the contest probably thanks to the old tired juries who preferred boring ballads!!!

Reason I love it: From the excellent introduction to the brilliant finish this song is pure cheese but pure fun aswell. Its one of the catchiest songs ever recorded and it still sounds surprisingly fresh compared to a lot of songs from 1996. The video always makes me smile and its just a classic song-full stop.

85. Texas featuring Kardinal Offishal-Carnival Girl

http://www.vinyltap.co.uk/gallery/te/texascg6364832406154300.jpg

Year: 2003

Chart Run: 4-1-1-1-2-3-4

Info: From a poor year of music, 2003 (where only 5 songs appear in this top 100), I was alone in thinking that this was a brilliant comeback from Texas. It reached low top 10 in the UK and was followed by a poorly recevied album but I thought that this mix of reggae/dancehall and Texas' trademark sound was good!!!

Reason I love it: It spent 3 weeks at No.1 in my chart because I thought and still believe that its excellent. A great blend of 2 styles of music, with the carnival sound effects, it deserved to be a much bigger hit and was in my opinion one of the most underrated singles ever...

84. The Corrs-All the love in the world

http://www.disfrutaloscorrs.com/thecorrs/entrevistas/2000_beautiful_sketch22.jpg

Year: 2000

Chart Run: 1-3-OUT-3

Info: The third song recorded with Shania's husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange for the No.1 album In Blue, this quality ballad was not released as a single but a video was made and the song was on the soundtrack to the film 'America's Sweethearts'

Reason I Love it: Yet another song from The Corrs, this one just oozes quality. The standout album track for me on In Blue, there are two different versions of this and both are sublime. The video was quite funny and showed The Corrs acting...it was almost as funny as...

83. The Corrs-Would you be happier

http://www.mattscdsingles.com/acatalog/13384.jpg

Year: 2001

Chart Run: 2-2-2-4-1-4-5-5-5

Info: One of the two token new tracks on the band's Best of collection, Would you be happier is one of the most poppy songs the band have ever done and not one they regularly perform at concerts, perhaps as it is not regarded as one of their classics by most...

Reason I love it: A great pop song, it really brightened up the end of 2001 which for obvious reasons was quite depressing. The video was really funny and showed that the Corrs have a humorous side. I really love this song and it had an impressive stay in my top 5!!!

82. Texas-In Our Lifetime

http://www.mattscdsingles.com/acatalog/11229%20ns.jpg

Year: 1999

Chart Run: N/A

Info: The comeback single for Texas from their 1999 album The Hush, this is in my opinion their best track, edging out even the classic White on Blonde singles. A very catchy song it summed up summer 1999 for me and peaked at No.4 in the UK...

Reason I love it: Though it never made my chart for the fact that it came out a couple of months before i did my first chart, this is a classic song from Texas and proved that they have made fine music at many different stages of their long career!!!

Gina G :cheer: the first single I ever bought!

81. James Blunt-You're Beautiful

http://www.xmao.com/wp/wp-content/upimages/james.jpg

Year: 2005

Chart Run: 1-1-OUT-3-1-3

Info: A song that doesn't need an introduction, it was THE hit of summer 2005 and surprised everyone by slowly hiking to No.1 from outside the top 10 and helping the album Back to Bedlam to shift millions of copies. I can't think of a country where this song didn't make No.1...

Reason I love it: I bought it on the week of release (when it debuted at No.12) and was bemused at why such a classic pop song wasn't higher. Low and behold...it flew to No.1 and became a classic...a beautifully crafted song which is annoyingly catchy, it had an odd run in my chart where it returned to No.1 having dropped from the top spot out of the top 5...

80. Natalie Imbruglia-Shiver

http://www.mtv.com/shared/media/news/images/i/Imbruglia,_Natalie/sq_long_hair_2005.jpg

Year: 2005

Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-2-4

Info: The comeback single that propelled the comeback album to No.1...ex-Neighbours star Natalie scored a huge comeback (enormous in airplay terms) in 2005 with this brilliant single Shiver. A step up in quality from her previous couple of singles its a fantastic song!!!

Reason I love it: I'd only ever really loved on Natalie song before (That Day) but Shiver took me by surprise and is a brilliant song. A great video accompanied it and the song spent a month at No.1 in my chart in April 2005!!!

79. Milk Inc-Land of the living

http://dancevibes.be/images/milkinc/regilinda.jpg

Year: 2002

Chart Run: 3-2-4-OUT-5-OUT-3-4-5-OUT-4

Info: The third UK single for Milk Inc though one of many in Europe, it managed to creep into the back of the top 20 on a slow week at the beginning of 2003 but for me is the band's best single...Recorded twice with different vocalists, both versions are equally sublime!!!

Reason I love it: Just another happy uplifting dance track with some very cheesy lyrics but it finished 2002 in my top 10 of the year despite never making No.1 and I still don't get bored of it now. A sublime singles act whose only UK album would act as a greatest hits in any other country-excellent!!!

78. Dannii Minogue vs Flower Power-You won't forget about me

http://www.gordons-joint.co.uk/images/danniicalendar511.jpg

Year: 2004

Chart Run: 5-3-2-5-5-2-2-2-3

Info: The 2004 comeback for Dannii Minogue was this single on which she added vocals to an instrumental by Flower Power despite never meeting the producers of the track. A fantastic single with a very cheesy video the single gave her another UK top 10 hit...

Reason I love it: Surprisingly the only Minogue related hit in this chart (No Kylie at all :-0), this was a great song. It really brightened up the end of 2004 and spent a huge 4 weeks at No.2 in my chart...its one of Dannii's greatest singles in a very strong career!!!

77. Carola-Invincible/Evighet

http://home.rixtele.com/~urdskalla/Skivomslag/Carola_Haggqvist.jpg

Year: 2006

Chart Run: 5-3-1-2-3-2-3-5

Info: The first song to appear from this year...this was Sweden's entry to the Eurovision 2006 and came 5th for Carola, a controversial woman who came 3rd in the early 80's and then won the contest in 1991 with Fangad av en stormvind...

Reason I love it: This is about as perfect as Swedish pop can get. An incredibly predictable song but it proves that good pop can still be made in 2006...Both the English and Swedish versions are sublime and the song should have come at least top 3 in the contest in my opinion...

76. Sarah McLachlan-Fallen

http://www.phoenixcoyotes.com/images/events/normal/sarah_mclachlan-new.jpg

Year: 2004

Chart Run: 1-2-1-2-3-3-4

Info: The comeback for this brilliant Canadian singer songwriter in 2004...best known for hits such as Adia, Sweet Surrender and Angel, this is the first of three of her singles to feature in my top 100 countdown. The song made the UK top 50...

Reason I love it: Thoughtful lyrics, a great melody and a fantastic voice. Coming from arguably 2004's best album, Afterglow, this really put Sarah back on track and the video was very good too...spent almost 2 months in my top 5 and achieved the rare feat of returning to No.1...

75. Jo O'Meara-What hurts the most

http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/images/jo-o-meara-qual.jpg

Year: 2005

Chart Run: 3-1-1-4-1-1-3-3

Info: The debut and last (presumably) single from ex-S Club 7 lead singer Jo, this was a beautiful country ballad which was poppified for Jo...it has also been covered by acts as diverse as Bellefire, Kelly Clarkson and Rascal Flatts. The song reached top 15 in the UK...

Reason I love it: This surprised me as there was only a few S Club songs that I liked. I thought that Jo sang this track perfectly with the power and emotion she put into it. I feel that it deserved to be at least a top 5 hit...anyway it ruled my chart for 4 non-consecutive weeks in late 2005!!!

74. Daz Sampson-Teenage Life

http://img.aftonbladet.se/noje/0605/20/ettastorbritannien.jpg

Year: 2006

Chart Run: 4-4-2-1-1-1-3-4-5

Info: Aah...Daz, the man behind hits such as Kung Fu Fighting (1998), Rhinestone Cowboy (2002) and Out of Touch (2004) returned with his Eurovision entry (it was destined to happen) in May 2006...it came 19th out of 24 but made an impressive No.8 in the UK charts!!!

Reason I love it: Edging out Carola to be 2006's best Eurovision song, Teenage Life has a great sentiment and the rap flows beautifully with the children's choir. It was performed fantastically at Eurovision and really should have come higher, unlike Jemini and Javine who had deserved positions in the contest...
