Robbie Williams desperate to move

Updated: 2009-10-29 19:17

'Bodies' singer Robbie Williams has slashed the price of his English country mansion by more than £1 million because he is so desperate to move back to sunny Los Angeles.

Robbie Williams is selling his country mansion for a £1 million loss because he can't face the British winter.

After just eight months in England, the 'Bodies' singer and his girlfriend Ayda Field - who bought the 18th century Wiltshire house for £8.5 million in February - have slashed the estate's price so they can get back to sunny Los Angeles as quickly as possible.

An insider said: "Robbie is desperate to get things moving quickly rather than hang around just to get a bit more money. Being settled back in the States quickly with Ayda is more important to him.

"He's already got a few people interested in the mansion."

The 35-year-old star has previously admitted the house - which has its own helicopter hangar, temples and fountains - was an "impulse buy" when he returned to England after five years in the US.

He and Ayda were planning to make it their family home, but quickly became fed up with the rainy weather.

He recently said: "Ayda's always wanted to have the change in the seasons - and it's winter and glorious. The garden is pretty special, a winter wonderland and you just want to get cosy.

"Then it comes to summer and the weather doesn't change that much. Then you think, 'Hmm, LA was good'. Every day you wake up you're in the sun. Your body feels different, your mind feels different - so we're going back."

Although Robbie would like to keep the house, he has admitted he can't afford to maintain it if he's not living there.

He said: "I can't really afford to keep it. Maintenance is a lot. I've done a few impulse buys and it leaves you no money."

Piers Morgan: 'I'm glad Robbie's back'

Digital Spy

By Mayer Nissim, Entertainment Reporter

Piers Morgan has said that he is happy Robbie Williams has staged a successful pop comeback.

The journalist told The Mail On Sunday that he thought Williams had grown since his earlier days as a member of Take That.

Morgan stated: "I was Take That's official biographer in those heady, early days, so I got to know them all very well. Robbie Williams was always the headstrong, slightly crazy one. The cheeky chappie prone to all manner of success and excess.

"We fell out when he left the band, and disappeared so far up his own backside there were fears a surgeon might be needed to extricate him. So I was curious how his long-awaited comeback would go on The X Factor."

He added: "The answer, according to most reviews, was badly. Critics said he was wild-eyed, nervy, and didn't sing that brilliantly. All of which was true. But I saw something else.

"And that was a young man ravaged by fame, fortune, booze and drugs, who'd finally grown up, got clean, learned a bit of genuine humility, and looked vulnerable for the first time in his life.

"And for that reason, Robbie my old mate, I'm glad to see you back."

By IANSNovember 3rd, 2009 LONDON - Gwen, mother-in-law of Robbie Williams, has been getting financial help from the singer to get out of debt.

Gwen is in danger of losing her house in Los Angeles. This is the main reason why Williams had to sell his house just months after he moved back to Britain, reports thesun.co.uk.

“Debtors are literally on Gwen’s doorstep. Her house has been threatened with foreclosure. She doesn’t work and has relied on money from her divorce and from family to fund her lifestyle. But things have been getting tricky recently and she’s worried about the future.

“As a result, Ayda is concerned about her mum and is feeling stressed. It’s a big part of why they have moved back to LA. Ayda feels she needs to be there to help her mum and she’s hoping Robbie will just pay off all her debts. Robbie has already been extremely generous. He and Ayda have offered for her to move in but that is not going to work as a permanent solution,” a friend of Gwen’s daughter Ayda said.

Need a new thread for November. :P

Jangle the keys to lock this one.
