Posted October 5, 200915 yr The Saturdays have revealed that their new single 'Forever Is Over' was originally written for Kelly Clarkson. The track, which was penned by former Busted star James Bourne, was snapped up by the five-piece as the first release from their second album Wordshaker. "We heard the song playing while at our record company and went into the office where James was talking to the head of the label," Mollie King told the Daily Star. "We said: 'We have to have that song'. Then we found out that Kelly Clarkson was fighting for it but he gave it to us. James is lovely." Meanwhile, singer Rochelle Wiseman insisted that the pop-rock sound of the new single marks a "bigger sound" for the group. "The single's got a full-on pop-rock sound and I think it shows off our voices really well. It's similar to the album in that it's got a bigger sound production-wise, but not all the songs are as rocky like that," she told DS. The Saturdays release 'Forever Is Over' today. Their album Wordshaker is out on October 12. So THATS why there are so many KC comparisons. Tbh im glad she didnt record it... Anything on AIEW is better than that track tbh.
October 5, 200915 yr Thank God she didn't record it LOL! Maybe it would have been better as a track for her though... the thing I don't believe is this... "We said: 'We have to have that song'. Then we found out that Kelly Clarkson was fighting for it but he gave it to us. James is lovely." Like James just gave it to them as soon as they asked him! LOL. I think he'd have thought about it at first or at least wanted to give it Kelly straight away as at least it'd get heard over in America too so more royalties as Kelly is far bigger globally etc...
October 6, 200915 yr I don't believe this at all. Why would Kelly be fighting for it when she's not even recording at the moment? The Sats only recorded it a few months ago.
October 6, 200915 yr I don't believe this at all. Why would Kelly be fighting for it when she's not even recording at the moment? The Sats only recorded it a few months ago. Could be different reasons.. Maybe she just really liked it, and wanted it for a future project..
October 6, 200915 yr Could be different reasons.. Maybe she just really liked it, and wanted it for a future project.. True, but I doubt it. Mollie said on This Morning today that Pink wanted it too which I know can't be true because she makes a point of writing all her songs. I think The Sats' management have just told them this to try hype up the song and themselves more because it looks like they got it over two big artists.
October 6, 200915 yr That's bull$h!t then yeah... And both Pink and Kelly are not recording atm.. But the Kelly part COULD be true though
October 6, 200915 yr Well, I think Joao is right (in another thread) I can actually see 'All I Ever Wanted' getting a Re-Release for some reason :(
October 6, 200915 yr Author I really hope she isnt working with Danja... Its like two different planets. One more epic than the other though :heehee: Other than his work on Blackout i havent really liked anything from him.
October 7, 200915 yr Well, I think Joao is right (in another thread) I can actually see 'All I Ever Wanted' getting a Re-Release for some reason :( That would be fantastic
October 7, 200915 yr Personally I think the song was written with Kelly Clarkson in mind, perhaps she didn't want it or make up her mind so James passed it onto The Saturdays. I can't ever see anyone passing up Kelly for The Saturdays in ordinary circumstances - just think of what it could do for James financially and to his career as a songwriter having written a Kelly Clarkson hit.

Sounds logical
October 25, 200915 yr I think Forever Is Over is by far the weakest track on The Saturdays album, it's not the most credible of tracks in my opinion. I'm glad Kelly didn't release it because to be it doesn't have that instantly indentifiable and loveable Kelly attitude. Although I can see Slick's point of saying it almost sounds as though it could have been written with Kelly in mind, it's still just kind of blah.
