1. Is there anything a pointless as doing so when a track is *already* downloadable from an album?

 

2. It seems counter-productive to do so for an artist / genre that has traditionally relied on physical releases (e.g. Will Young, Ronan Keating). OK, so physical sales won't get you a #1 on their own now, but surely releasing a CD, even with a throwaway B-side, can't hurt?

Well I know they are currently on Radio 1s C-List, with Cheryl on the A-List and an X Factor performance, but it's a charity single. Everyone likes Charity singles...

 

In my experience, virtually everyone *hates* charity singles - they rarely have any musical merit, and deny songs that *do* their rightful #1 place. :puke:
