even pixie managed the double, prior to album release. But pixie has no longevity.

 WTF, she does have longevity, is 18 weeks in the top 75 and 11 weeks in the top 40 not enough to qualify as longevity?! If not, your living in some dream world because about 90% of the singles released today don't stay around as long as she has with her singles. She deservedly managed the double by the way, she's the first British female to top the charts who hasn't came out from a Reality TV background - that's a huge achievement and she's only 18! I see her easily having a Westlife-esque consecutive top 10 chart history.

"she's the first British female to top the charts who hasn't came out from a Reality TV background"

Of course she is. ^_^

What's with the sarcasm, she really is. If you have a look at this last decade, give me a name of another British female artist who topped the chart without coming out of a TV or Reality series background?

how about lily allen, duffy and estelle? i'm sure i remember those 3 being at number 1 quite recently..

Lily Allen, Duffy, Gabrielle, Estelle, Sonique, Melanie C, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton off the top of my head.

Lily had her own TV show, Duffy was on Welsh Idol and Estelle doesn't count because American Boy was a collaboration with an American artist, it wasn't a song done solo by a British female artist.

Lily didn't have her own TV show until after the release of her third single from her debut album, at which point, "Smile" had already gone to number one. ^_^

Sophie's never had a #1, the Spice Girls have had their own Movie and Video Game. Sonique's no.1 was originally released in the 90s and Gabrielle's life was on every tabloid, headline news channel and for weeks on end before Rise went to no.1.

i thought groovejet was number 1? and surely it doesnt matter when the song was first released, it matters more when it actually got to number 1? and just because gabrielle was in the tabloids (just like pixie lott probably was to promote her single etc) it doesnt mean she didn't get to number one off her own back..

and what have you got to say about billie piper and natasha bedingfield?

Sophie has.

So what, the movie came after. And it has nothing to do with the fact that they get to number one, they are still British females.

No it wasn't, it came out in 00 in the UK and went to number one.

And what you say about Gabrielle is bull$h!t, it's totally invalid. Before 'Mama Do' was released, there were loads of adverts for Pixie with a preview of 'Mama Do'. It's called promotion.

Accept defeat, you're wrong.

I like Pixie a lot but this kind of stupid fans make me dislike her actually.

Lily is on a completely different league, her album was already double platinium when she got her TV show.

KT Tunstall (even though not reaching #1, her first album sold over a million in the UK and a few more millions worldwide) and Natasha Bedingfield (as well as breaking the US big time) are other examples of females who have achieved a lot more than Pixie will ever achieve.

If you seriously believe all this stuff (esp. the part about her being the first British female to top the charts without coming from a reality background ) you are ever so slightly kidding yourself. Besides, other people on this thread have shot down your argument, but you haven't bothered to respond to them. I think it's it's time for you to backtrack buddy, before you embarrass yourself..

Laura White should be alot higher! brilliant song!
Too much emphasis is placed on single sales & positions. If artists like Pixie don't establish themselves as consistent album sellers they certainly won't have longevity. Peanuts is made from the selling of downloads.

Agreed.
