November 7, 200915 yr Bodyrox :D great song, was top two with Fedde LeGrand, was odd seeing electro dance occupy both places in the UK top two!
November 7, 200915 yr 060 Vampire Weekend 'A-Punk' 058 Snow Patrol 'Run' 056 Los Campesinos! 'You! Me! Dancing!' Good selection, particularly A-Punk, I agree that Run is Snow Patrol's best and quite easily I think. A good Los Campesinos! track aswell.
November 7, 200915 yr Author 055 Damien Rice '9 Crimes' cgqOSCgc8xc I was never particularly fussed with Damien Rice when 'O' was out. Then came the first single off his next album. It has far more involvement from Lisa Hannigan and I still rank it as one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's truly stunning. 054 Rilo Kiley 'Portions For Foxes' I'd seen people mention this when it was released but I didn't bother to check it out until the end of the year, and I instantly fell in love with it. There are more songs about relationships in here than I imagined there would be... 053 Katy Perry 'Hot N Cold' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-LhyAVzDBI Just under a year ago I surprised a few people by putting 'Hot N Cold' in my top 20 singles of 2008. It surprised me too to be honest. 'Ur So Gay' - hideous. 'I Kissed A Girl' - Possibly the worst song of last year. 'Self Inflicted' - Beyond generic. Why on earth would I want to listen to another Katy Perry song? I certainly wouldn't, so when she released this I did my best to avoid it. It was hard to avoid though and I heard it out a couple of times and I didn't think it was too bad, then I caught the video and thought that actually, it was rather good. The more I listened to it the better it became. It just grew and grew, I've never even started to become bored with it. If you count the remixes I have of this then it's my 4th most played song since I got last.fm some 26 months ago. A guilty pleasure? Yes. One of the best few pop songs in recent years? Most definitely. 052 M.I.A. 'Paper Planes' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqlY0VOFtyA Whilst a lot of people didn't hear this until Pineapple Express came out this played a big part in 'Kala' becoming my #1 album of 2007 and had four weeks atop my personal chart soon after. It might rely on a sample of an old Clash song but she does so much with it to make it her own. It's a work of genius and I was so pleased that it belatedly became a hit. 051 The Libertines 'Time For Heroes' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwhHdeHJ1Yk Just short of the top half it means only two acts have more than one entry in it, although one of those does have four!! This is one of the reasons why The Libertines were once regarded as one of the finest talents in Britain. Fantastic lyrics, fantastic vocals.

November 7, 200915 yr Hot 'N' Cold incredibly high! was #12 in my year end last year I think and just missed my 'just missed' songs, but would have been in the top 150 if I'd done one, I agree that it's her best single

November 7, 200915 yr Woo, a recap! 98 Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' 75 Groove Armada 'Song 4 Mutya' 73 Little Boots 'Earthquake' 65 Royksopp ft Robyn 'The Girl & The Robot' 63 Noisettes 'Never Forget You' 58 Snow Patrol 'Run' 57 Bodyrox ft Luciana 'Yeah Yeah' 53 Katy Perry 'Hot N Cold' 52 M.I.A. 'Paper Planes' Great selection there. I'm not sure which is my favourite Katy song, I think IKAG just pips HNC, although they're both wub. 'Earthquake' is probably my favourite Boots track, now that 'Remedy' has been so raped on BuzzJack :( Although I guess we'll be seeing 'Remedy' somewhere higher up the chart? :P -- On a seperate note, XOMG, how many Girls Aloud tracks are top 50?! :w00t:
November 7, 200915 yr 54 Rilo Kiley 'Portions for Foxes' - By far their best, amazing. 53 Katy Perry 'Hot N Cold' - Only one of hers I like, very good! 52 M.I.A. 'Paper Planes' 51 The Libertines 'Time For Heroes'

'Paper Planes' What I like from when I last commented. Snow Patrol 'Run' is one of my favourite songs ever. So I'm pleased to see it so high
November 8, 200915 yr Author love Don't Falter :D no Black Box Recorder - Facts Of Life? I was half expecting to see it in here these two songs always seem to go together for me...female led indie pop from early 2000 I do like 'Facts of Life' but I don't love it. It was in my 400-301 list!
November 8, 200915 yr Author Damien Rice  I love him, such a great track, Also Time For Heroes is an incredibly good track, should be higher tbh. (oh and Hot N Cold is a guilty pleasure of mine). To be honest if even you like Hot N Cold then it can't be that much of a guilty pleasure...

Just the one Girls Aloud song, I shall reveal which tonight. Not that it should be too hard to guess...
November 8, 200915 yr Absolutely adore 'Hot N Cold' Always thought it was miles better than 'I Kissed A Girl' too. 'Paper Planes' is still a great song too <3.
November 8, 200915 yr Author 050 Hot Hot Heat 'Bandages' y3N9iSBanTs This was Canadian bands mainstream debut back in 2003 and I loved it right from first listen. It's their most successful song, ceratainly in the UK, and I'm not too surprised at that seeing as they've never got close to matching it.
November 8, 200915 yr 050 Hot Hot Heat 'Bandages' - Amazing! Wasn't expecting to see it now we'd got this high.
November 8, 200915 yr Author 049 Kings of Leon 'Fans' H1hgRDRc3ug I'd always quite liked Kings of Leon but it was this song that made me take a bit more notice of them. It's still my favourite song of theirs to this day. It's often hard to tell what he's singing but it's a great homage to their fans in the UK, who've always shown them far more appreciation than anywhere else. I knew from this song and its parent album 'Becuase of the Times' that they were going to become huge. This was incredibly popular, they'd done a fantastic job of headlining Glastonbury and the album had quietly sold over half a million copies.
November 8, 200915 yr Author 048 Girls Aloud 'The Loving Kind' T5vkDo_dT3w I never thought they were ever going to come close to making anything this good. Since 'Wake Me Up' at the beginning of 2005 they hadn't made a single song that I'd liked. Everything was hyped to death on the internet but to these ears it was all awful ('Biology', 'Something Kinda Oooh', 'The Promise', 'Call The Shots' - all dreadful). Then I saw the album on Amazon for £3 last December and in a moment of madness I decided to download it. It was better than I expected but nothing came close to this song, it was wonderfully subtle and incredibly classy. You can tell the Pet Shop Boys had an influence on it. Fantastic pop.
November 8, 200915 yr Author 047 TV on the Radio 'Wolf Like Me' LTy-e6qEWRE I can't remember how I came across this song now but it was one hell of a grower in late 2006. I'd seen a fair amount of hype for album 'Return to Cookie Mountain' and this showed why they were hyped with this. I can't say I was at all fussed with the album but this is great.
November 8, 200915 yr 050 Hot Hot Heat 'Bandages' y3N9iSBanTs This was Canadian bands mainstream debut back in 2003 and I loved it right from first listen. It's their most successful song, ceratainly in the UK, and I'm not too surprised at that seeing as they've never got close to matching it. I love you. Thank f*** someone else appreciates this amazing track, saw them live a few years ago, so fun. BANDAGES BANDAGES FROM MY HEART TO YOURS BANDAGES BANDAGES BAND-AGE-ES-ES-ES. I love so many of their songs. Edit: I just realised how lame it was when I said I loved you, let's ignore that bit.
November 8, 200915 yr Author 046 The National 'Mistaken for Strangers' cgRsYkKb1eI I first discovered The National through internet recommendation, and this immediately struck as my favourite of theirs. It's by far the most commercial song of theirs which is probably why it was so instant, but it doesn't stop its greatness. It continues to get better.
