I hope LeToya hit the money note well enough for you to warrant giving her FOUR MORE POINTS than Robots In Love received in XVII :smoke:

Yeah, but LeToya didn't beat Robots In Love to #1 in my chart - RIL got #1 of that month and possibly more

I gave it 12 in the Best Of so SHUSH!

Yeah, I reference Rich to this statement :kink:

010 Outkast 'Hey Ya! - Very good.

009 Animal Collective 'Summertime Clothes' - I really should give their album a proper listen, very good.

008 The Postal Service 'Such Great Heights' - AMAZING.

You definitely should listen to 'Merriweather Post Pavillion'! I can't imagine you disliking it...

Here we go then....

005 Muse 'New Born' (#1 of 2001)

I remember when I first took any notice of this. I must have downloaded it and completely ignored it then one day when my iPod was on shuffle it came on and I was hooked. I had no idea who it was until the vocal kicked in! It quickly became something I got more and more into until, IIRC, I once announced this as my favourite song of all time. Whilst I don't quite love it that much now, it's still absolutely superb. The intro is proabably my favourite part but all of it is fantastic, the way it builds into something so loud and wonderful. People have said that 2009's resistance is too OTT. Haven't they always been OTT?

004 Interpol 'Obstacle 1' (#1 of 2003)

With four singles in the top 40 you can probably tell by now that I'm rather fond of Interpol, and this is the song that started me off. I'd heard 'Antics' singles 'Evil' and 'Slow Hands' but they hadn't really captured me like this did. I'd seen people say it was good so downloaded it, I can't say I was expecting it to be quite this good. People have criticised them (and many others) as being Joy Division rip-offs, but they're certainly more than that. Influenced by them? Yes. But rip-off? No. I love the ever so slightly distorted vocal on this and the bassline is superb.

So, three to go. Three songs which have, between them, spent 18 weeks at the top of my personal chart.

003 The Killers 'Mr. Brightside' (#1 of 2004)

This song has gone on to become one of the most ridiculously overplayed songs of all time. But every time I've ever heard his I can't help but admire it. Many millions of people went and bought 'Hot Fuss' but I bought it on its release day. It was a long while since I'd done that, and it was all because of this song. I was in love with it for such a large part of 2004 and haven't stopped loving it since. I think it's safe to say that it's regarded as a modern classic, and the impact it still has today is phenomenal. I love nothing more than making a complete twat of myself, dancing around to this in some student club, pissed beyond all recognition on cheap 'buca, whilst wearing my 'Mr Brightside' t-shirt of course. And it does happen quite a lot, given that it's played absolutely everywhere on every single night.

005 Muse 'New Born' - Awesome.

004 Interpol 'Obstacle 1' - Really good.

003 The Killers 'Mr. Brightside' - Awesome.

Edited by Ashford.

Interpol is niceee. Dislike Muse. D; Awful band. Mr. Brightside is a nice track though.

002 Arcade Fire 'Rebellion (Lies)' (#1 of 2005)

When I first heard this song, it changed my opinion of a band so much I thought it was unbelievable. I'd heard their previous singles and thought they were all OK. Then I heard this and one word came to mind; wow. How can something over 5 minutes long seem like the perfect 3 minute pop song? It made me buy the album almost straight away and I loved it, but nothing they've done has ever come remotely close to matching this. I'm still completely mesmerised everytime I listen to it. When I first compiled this list, this was number one, but then when I listened to it side by side with the number two, I realised that it was in a different league.

001 Elbow 'One Day Like This' (#1 of 2008, #1 of the Decade, #1 of all time)

From about 2001 when I first heard 'New Born' and 'Powder Blue' Elbow had always been one of those bands that I thought were alright, had decent singles but I'd never feel compelled to listen to one of their albums. This way of thinking kept up and stayed that way until last years lead single 'Grounds for Divorce'. As usual it was a decend enough song but it didn't make me want to seek much more. Then I decided it would be worth checking the follow up single; this. I thought it was a lot better and within a fortnight or so I was completely obsessed. When I worked last year I used to wake up to this as my alarm. Every single day for three months.

It wasn't long before I realised just how perfect this was, by the end of the year this was my favourite single of 2008 by a resounding margin. A year later and it's no less special, infact it only seems even more special, certainly helped by the wonderful performance for the BBC with their Concert Orchestra earlier this year where watching it you felt that Guy Garvey could really tell what a masterpiece he'd created such was the emotion he portrays. It is his voice that's the probably the best part of the song, so soothing and calm, almost angelic. I've come to realise that this is as perfect as I could ever hope for a song to be. It's not just my favourite song of last year, or even my favourite song of the decade, it really is my favourite song of all time. Nothing, absolutely nothing, makes me feel like I do when I hear that opening note and the first few strings. Goosebumps every time, it's beyond stunning. It's also perfect to listen to in any situation, to uplift, to calm down, when you want to be serious, in the background.

Love Robyn, like it much more than I did when I first heard it as well.

'Mr Brightside' is by far and away my favourite from The Killers too.

Were you expecting it higher then? :o

'Pounding' is great too.

top 3 if I'm honest :o

Elbow was the other song I expected to be top 3 for sure, nice chart topper, it even managed to make my chart at the time, which is rare for a song like that!

Sorry I haven't commented in a while, but I don't need to now this is Top 3  My absoloute, most favourite song ever! Like you said the reaction it gets on nights out and stuff is just epic! I want to go to a Killers gig anyway as I love them, but this is one of the main reasons as the atmosphere is meant to be one of the most amazing things ever. (Or so I heard :o)
