I think it will do a Tinchy Stryder and follow two #1's to an average sized top 20 hit...would be happy if it did better but it's a bit weak compared to the first two singles in my opinion, especially with Turn It Up and Here We Go Again left on the album...

It's not, people are just over-exaggerating. The album has sold fine, it's been certified Gold and it hasn't even been out for 2 months, I mean were people expecting to go Platinum within a month? :/ Hardly any albums do that anymore, her album is still holding up it's just outside the top 40 and CMO should get it back in easily and hopefuly near the top 10 come Christmas time!

Where do you get your 'facts' from? From Jay's provided sales, the album has sold 71k. That isn't even certified Silver, let alone Gold :rolleye:

I don't want to go off topic but I'll have to, just quickly! The album has sold 77k, but it certified Gold because it has shipped 100k. Basically, retailers expect it to sell the 23k surplus in the next few months, and that is why they have the stock.

I wouldn't say it has done badly at all, although it obviously hasn't had the same success as the singles. Realistically though, it's from a debut artist who hasn't toured and has been around less than six months. There was no loyal fanbase before she was launched in June. Most, but not all, of Pixie's fans are of the age where they might have to save up for an album - so it was never going to an overnight success. All the promo has been very specific to the singles, not the album. Since it's been out the label have moved the focus to the world market. Obviously, we can now see why this is, as they are going down the Christmas-push route. 'Turn It Up' can never be calleld a flop, but we'll have to wait and see if it will be a big success.

Well I'm not sure if it has been certified, perhaps it has - it's only based on the amount of albums shipped to stores anyway. From my understanding, if 100k+ albums were shipped to stores for the first week, then it could qualify to be certified as Gold immediately - even if it only actually sold say 30,000 of those albums.

I think MJ's This Is It has a Gold certification already, though its first week sales were not 100k+. I seem to remember All Saints - Studio 1 being certified Gold quite early on too. It didn't even touch 100,000 (I think it's actual sales were about 50,000?) but nonetheless it was certified. Certifications are relatively meaningless accolades, until Platinum level, in my opinion.

I think most artists just makes it up anyway, LOL. The Saturdays have been banging on about having a Platinum album (Chasing Lights) all year, when its actual sales were barely over 200,000. According to ChartsPlus it's still only certified Gold.

I'll just say 'Turn It Up' is at Silver status. Not Gold at all.

I checked ChartsPlus and it has been certified Gold, so VLL was right on that one. :)
Top 15, there is too much competition going on to get a top 5 position from other acts.... but I'm saying #11

How ridiculous to accuse people of making up certifications. There is never any need to guess or make up a certification, you can check them all on the BPI website. For albums, it's very true that they don't mean an awful lot, but albums nealy always fulfil an early certification with the sales. If we were in 2010 and the album was Gold but had only sold 77k, then it is reasonable to say the certification is wrong, but it's not as if Pixie won't sell at least another 30k before Christmas.

You come in this thread to try and embarrass me and look for an argument but instead you end up embarrassing yourself!

Maybe try doing accurate research before childishly accusing someone of making up sales totals and certifications. As both Jay and Guru have said both BPI and Charts Plus have it certified as Gold, and your sales total was even incorrect in your little outburst, your post must've been one of those "woops I shouldnt have said that" moments I'm guessing?

We should stop going off-topic now, shouldn't we?

Certifications mean shipped (to the shops), not sold. 71k in sales looks exactly right to me. However it'll obviously cross gold in sales in the longrun and the album isn't over yet.

Now shut up about it people.

Dunno about this song, but Here We Go Again HAS to be the next single!

I'm almost 100% sure that it will be, Pixie and her label are clearly very clued up on what to release and at what time to release it. So, the only logical single choice would be HWGA, especially for the new year, which was when GaGa's Just Dance was big this year. HWGA would have fit best as a 4th single, CMO was the perfect 3rd/Xmas/ballad single and either wouldn't have faired as well if the single order was switched.

HWGA is a sure-fire top 5 smash and I think she should use it as her era-ender, a 5th single would be disasterous even if Turn It Up has major single potential, British artists and 5th singles are a terrible combination and she needs to keep her top 10 record going as well.

A 5th single would be disasterous

'Here We Go Again' and 'Turn It Up' can still be released, reach the top 10 and sell more albums. Pixie has said there will be a fifth single, and then I guess a sixth if they release a deluxe edition (unlikely for at least six months).

This will reach the Top 10, and stay around for four/five weeks. It could edge into the Top 5 in the physical week.
