Heidi Range has suggested that Sugababes were not a success before she replaced Siobhan Donaghy in 2001. Donaghy formed the group with Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan in 1998 but the current lineup features none of these founding members. Buena was replaced by Amelle Berrabah in 2005 and Jade Ewen took the place of Buchanan in September.

However, Range told BBC Newsbeat: "I don't want to sound like I'm being bigheaded but the Sugababes had one album which didn't sell and they were dropped. I joined eight years ago and we were signed together by Island Records. I've been there since our first number one 'Freak Like Me' and been part of the history of the band ever since." She added: "Amelle has been in the group for over four years and she's been part of our biggest album as a group. I think it's unfair."

"That's not disrespecting what previous members have brought to the group, but we were signed as Sugababes to Island Records and I'm still signed to Island Records as Sugababes."

Shes completely right, they wernt unsuccessful but they wern't exactly lighting up the charts.

Taller In More Ways is their biggest world wide album and Amelle was apart of that.

Also I've read these words from Heidi in so many different articles. Talk about reusing old news.

I don't think it's reusing old news but rather Heidi reusing the same words in different interviews. As far as I know the article I quoted was published 2 days ago on Digital Spy referring to a recent BBC interview, so it doesn't qualify as old news. And even if it does, the topic hasn't been brought up so who cares if it is anyway.

Tbh if I was Heidi and people were constantly going "omg there are no originalz left now lolz" I'd be pissed off too. She's been with them pretty much the entire time and their one previou album, while critically acclaimed I suppose, was their least successful. She has every right to say this and she's correct.

C&S is their least Successful, One Touch sold twice as much.

The quote first appeared iirc at the R1 AAG2.0 premier.

Well second least successful then...

If u wanna call being added on 4 tracks of a rerelease of an already huge album being part of it... then i guess. But then again it wasn't until amelle that they had their biggest flops both single wise and albumwise

I think people don't see them as the REAL sugababes not cos of beige not being an original member but because all the attitude and personality associated with the group was because of mutya and keisha. I mean yeah beige has been in the group for a long time and they didnt start being successful until she was in it. But honestly i think that has more to do with the image change and change in musical direction from one touch . In every era, even TIMW when i liked beige, i never saw her as a key part of the sugababes' success

Actually 1.0 had Sugababes' least successful single Soul Sound.

I think Heidi is the best Sugababe ^_^ But maybe that's because she's the only one I find attractive lol. But I do agree with you, she doesn't seem to have that dominating personality or voice and often provides the harmonies or the weak part of a song [not in all instances obviously]. But still I see her as part of the Sugababes because I'd never heard of them until they released 'Freak Like Me' [i'd heard 'Overload' but didn't know it was them] and I'm sure many people that aren't diehard fans etc would be the same.

Who is Beige? Her name is Heidi dear. Heidi. H-E-I-D-I ^_^

Totally agree with her here. Before she joined, they were just another here today gone tomorrow band. Im not saying it was all down to here, because it wasnt but until Heidi leaves the band I dont see any point in shouting about how there arent any original members.

I agree and Angels With Dirty Faces was the first Sugas album I bought :)

I totally agree with Heidi. ^_^

There are a couple of people who just wants to tease them because of Keisha's leaving, and I agree with Aled. , they were just another here today gone tomorrow band until Heidi joined to them.

Whichever way she wants to spin it, she was NOT an original member and never will be.
