Whichever way she wants to spin it, she was NOT an original member and never will be.

imo she might as well have been.

Actually 1.0 had Sugababes' least successful single Soul Sound.

I thought that title belonged to "Follow Me Home"?

Opinions don't matter. She isn't an original member. Fact.

Yeah, she was with them when they had a number one and all the other stuff. But ORIGINALLY, the line up consisted of Siobhan, Mutya and Keisha. They didn't have a sell-out tour and number one singles, but they were creating noise in the press and were gaining critically acclaim, so just because they weren't commercially successful, they did have some huge successes already under their belts...with Siobhan in the group.

I don't think Heidi's comments are fair, either. It's a slap to Siobhan and the fans that were following them right from the very beginning (myself included).

Follow Me Home peaked lower but sold more.

So I seem to be the only person who disagrees with this?

Whether they werent that succesful or not, KEISHA, MUTYA AND SIOBHAN WERE STILL THE SUGABABES. It was THEIR band and THEIR name even before One Touch... I dont GET how people can class Heidi as an original when she ISNT?!

No, I disagree too because the fact is she isn't an original member no matter what way she or anyone else tries to spin it.

Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan were the ones putting in the hard work to get the group up and running. I'm not saying Heidi hasn't worked hard, but she entered a group that was already established. Her place could have been taken by anyone and they'd still have had a number one with "Freak Like Me". The GROUP had switched sounds, switched up their image, etc. She just got lucky.

only by sales.

When the f*** did it sell 20k

I don't know...I remember someone saying "yay - 'Soul Sound' isn't the lowest ____ single now". I guess they were talking about its' chart position.
yeah i must admit they started getting famous after heidi joned the group.but heidi will always be a replacement.alot of people became thier fan after freak like me came out.but not me i was a massive fan from the very begining.i watched them sing live and doing loads of stuff together.and thats the reason why i will never see heidi as an original sugababe.and im sure alot of fans which have been there from the very start would agree with me.

I wasn't there from the very start but I agree with you. I only started getting into Sugababes during the 'Three' campaign, but that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if Heidi was there more than Siobhan. She just isn't an original Sugababe, and even if hell freezes over she'll still be a replacement. You can't argue with the facts.

She may not be an original but she is more of a Sugababe than Siobhan or Mutya to me and the same for Amelle over Siobhan.

I agree ^_^

Not to me. :P

She's outstayed 2 of the founding members, even if she wasn't there in the era in which they were dropped, she obviously was involved in the re-founding and re-signing onto a new label which followed with huge success and the group becoming a household name globally.

Heidi is a core part of the group, she is a Sugababe. Siobhan hardly was, she gave up after being dropped - even if she was an original member that alone is far outweighed by Heidi's lengthy commitment to the group. I'm sure most people remember or see Heidi as a more of a Sugababe than Siobhan. The group was over before Heidi came, its different to the Mutya-Amelle Keisha-Jade switches because they were technical replacements and they weren't over at the time or dropped by a label. Sugababes really did only find its strength after Heidi was involved in the rebirth of the group, to say she isn't a real Sugababe is plain ridiculous.

^ Heidi isn't an original Sugababe but she's certainly done enough to be respected as one..

Which is why the fans seem to have gave 4.0 a chance. :)

EDIT: Off topic I know but I just thought I'd let everyone know, Amelle's back on twitter. Help make her a trending topic!!! :w00t:

Heidi will never be a real Sugababe.

The Real Sugababes are Siobhan, Mutya and Keisha.

The band name came from a nickname those three girls earned during the recording of the initial demo's that lead to their London Records signing. Nothing to do with Heidi, therefore logically, Heidi will never be a 'Sugababe' by the literal meaning of the term

Yes.

If it wasn't for Siobhan, Ms Heidi would not be in the group. I don't think she should be so quick to dismiss Siobhan & the success they were having already like that.

The girls worked their little teenage asses off getting the group off the ground. If they hadn't, there would be no group for her to join. Yes, the original members had one album. But don't discount the work that led to that album. They put in a lot of hard work prior to 'One Touch' to make it work.

Heidi's contributions shouldn't go unnoticed. I agree. However, for people who still dismiss Siobhan completley is utterley ridiculous. Each girl played a part in what the Sugababes now are today. Siobhan helped give them credibility. And there are still fans of the 1.0 lineup so Heidi should just say "I've also contributed a lot to the group" and leave it at that. She isn't going to change the fact she isn't an original member by whinging about it.
