On November 14th.

Anything to ensure precious Cheryl Cole gets her sole week at no. 1 before the inevitable plummet from week two onwards. If 'Promise This' is anywhere near as successful as 'Fight For This Love' then fair enough. Personally, I see 'Promise This' doing a 'The Club Is Alive' and will be out of the top 40 within 8 weeks.

Maybe Rihanna performing on 14th November is a good thing; 'Only Girl' can peak lower than 'Promise This' next week (if released in the UK) but will get a sales boost in a fortnight (due to X Factor performance) and in the end could spend longer in the top 40 and who knows, might even be the bigger selling single by the end of 2010.

I'm obsessing far too much over 'OG(ITW)' and it's not good. :( Last time I was like this was when 'Bad Romance' was released. :drama:

It's OK Cheryl fans, once Cheryl's interview with Piers is shown and she's seen crying and we're made to feel even more sorry for her, she'll shoot straight up to #1.

I do tend to feel sorry for people who get divorced and get malaria. Do you?

Oh yes, ofcourse what she's gone through has been tough. But we don't need to be constantly reminded as if she's the only person to have EVER gone through a divorce or had malaria. Also what a coincidence, she recieves a few negative press about her decision regarding Gamu and the next thing you know is that her interview with Piers is shown tonight and her single is available to download tonight. Amazing PR one must say.

Yeah, that's true, but I can guarantee you that nearly everybody in the country is well aware that Cheryl is not the only person to ever have divorced, and is not the only person to ever have had malaria. I think most people in the country know many people that have divorced.

It's not happened in this thread, I don't think, but it annoys me when people talk about Cheryl's malaria as if she deliberately got the disease in order to sell more songs or something. It can be a difficult situation to be in, and yet I find people hating Cheryl because she got malaria.

The reality is, lots of people get that illness, and I think it's a great thing that Cheryl has got the public more aware of what it does to its victims. It's a big thing for some people, and it upsets me that people want to stop Cheryl from telling the public about her experiences with malaria. It's something I think people in the UK could learn more about, and this is a great opportunity.

Cheryl may be a national hate figure, but I don't think we should expect her not to get emotional when someone talks to her about her divorce. Just because she's famous, it does not mean she doesn't have feelings.

From what we've seen, she apparently wanted to make this interview because so many things have been said about her in the last 2 years, and so far she has never talked about it all. So this is a one time opportunity to make things clear, and to finally tell her truth about her life.

The only time she ever really talked about her divorce was on a Danish talk show earlier this year. Other than that, it's only been the press talking for her, and quite often to say rubbish. So I do understand she wants to clear the records now, and as long as she doesn't do it every month, I'm happy with this.

I think I'd respect her more Bert if her deciding to clear the air wasn't linked in with the promo for her single.

I'm extremely surprised that Cheryl isn't at least No.2, particularly the fact she's being outsold by a song that has already spent three weeks at No.1.

And this will make me extremely popular on here, but I actually think Promise This is much better than Only Girl  :D

I think most people do have soem sympathy for that. However, my gripe is how much the media think the sun shines out of her arse. They make her out to be some sort of wonder woman when yet shes just a good looking, average singer. Her success has been down to the amount of publicity she gets, not down to talent.

It runs full circle though - the media wouldn't keep talking about her if the public wasn't interested in her

Not entirely true. The media keep her in the public eye so her fanbase dont forget about her. The only reason she is so well known is down to being watched by 15m people each week on X Factor. Before she was a judge on there, her popularity/reputation was not even a fifth of what it is now. She was just a member of a quite successful girl group before. If she stopped being a judge on X Factor she would soon lose her current level of celebrity.

To make this anything to do with Itunes, surprised to see Rihanna on top.

Yes I agree. She nearly died for gods sake people have a heart, people are so pathetic.

But then thats not entirely true either. Cheryl was a media darling long before she got the job on X Factor. Ok it has helped it sky-rocket, but before, she was only a couple of notches below Victoria Beckham level of fame - largely due to the fact she was married to Ashley - (remember those horrible Lottery photos anyone?) And remember the first Ashley allegations - I think that was when Cheryl became the media darling - she was never out of the papers for months, then she got X Factor that kept her there. And you say if she stopped being a judge, well her life in the papers doesn't suddenly stop in January and pick up again in June - it is all year round.

And yes, I'm quite suprised Rihanna is on top - I haven't even heard it yet! lol

She did not nearly die, the media blew it all out of proportion.

Malaria is a disease that affects millions of people in Africa and you don't hear about them 24/7.

She was 24hours from death she said the doctors told her that, so i think that is close enough to death anyone wants to get.

Actually we do hear about it all the time and yes she did nearly die, I'm not sure you understand how serious Malaria is.

I actually thought the way people reacted to it was kind of strange, if Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer there would have been an out-pouring that would have supassed that of Jade Goody - as it was Malaria and because she lives in a developed country, the reaction was a bit meh. This actually has nothing to do with Cheryl and more to do with how people perseve different diseases.

It has nothing to do with Cheryl, it's because Rihanna's album is out the 15th November and because she was at Katy Perry's weeding yesterday. Only Girl is going to be massive, she doesn't need to waste the X Factor slot for a single that's going to be big, she needs it for the album, you know, Susan Boyle.

Promise This is still #3 and Rihanna's pop bar is almost double Cheryl's

Yes she did nearly die.
