Posted November 11, 200915 yr OVOSfHFNlcI Suprised there's not already a topic on this... Once again another fantastic British film. Would reccomend this to anyone. The cast is perfect imo. There are parts of the film that are extremely moving as well... top notch stuff though.
November 12, 200915 yr looks quite dark and gritty and british. i want to see it. dark, gritty british films are great.
November 12, 200915 yr Author looks quite dark and gritty and british. i want to see it. dark, gritty british films are great. It is definitely that. Paints a dark, but in some respects, quite true portrait of British society and gang-like culture. I think the cast is just great though. I thought Plan B was excellent, as was Emily Mortimer and Jack O' Connell is going to become a pretty big British star that i'm pretty certain of. And of course, you can't forget Michael Caine...
November 13, 200915 yr Death Wish with a brain, basically... But even better than this suggests, this is no simplistic "revenge fest", this film actually has something pretty BLOODY SERIOUS to say about the state of British society in 2009, and it doesn't make its point in a simplistic "Daily Mail" view either. This is not a film which portrays Britain or London in particular, in a positive light at all, in fact if the IOC had seen this film, they'd've probably given the 2012 Olympics to someone else, to say that this is "gritty" and "hard hitting" is almost an understatement. GOOD!! Christ knows, we need films like this, films which aren't afraid to ask serious questions about the state of modern Britain, the fact that it's such an superb thriller as well, is almost an afterthought, the icing on the cake to the salient points and social conscience the excellent script puts across.... Harry Brown is the film that Eden Lake didn't really have the guts or the power to be.... I think Harry Brown could easily be seen in the same sort of high regard as Get Carter and The Long Good Friday in the years to come... Yes, it IS that good.... And really, this is probaby Caine's best film performance in fukkin' YEARS..... I would not at all be surprised to see Mr Caine feature at the Oscars or BAFTAs tbh... And for this film, he'd actually truly deserve it.... Best British film of the year....? Abso-fukkin'-lutely..... More of this calibre, please....

I well want to see it now. and also, Get Carter  and while on the topic of gritty/dark/gangster/british films, anyone here seen Gangster No.1?
November 16, 200915 yr and while on the topic of gritty/dark/gangster/british films, anyone here seen Gangster No.1? Yeah.. Bloody good film... Malcolm McDowell and Paul Bettany were just absolutely fantastic in it....
November 16, 200915 yr Yeah.. Bloody good film... Malcolm McDowell and Paul Bettany were just absolutely fantastic in it.... so underated aswell, no one seems to of seen it. some proper brilliant scenes, amazing performaces, some of the shots and character positioning is just brilliant. I love how he doesnt have a name either.
November 30, 200915 yr i saw this last night and thought it was fantastic. Scary to think just how realistic it is.
December 27, 200915 yr I totally disagree. To me, this was my least favorite book. Harry Potter is a whiny little bitch through most of it and it was hard to stomach. I am NOT saying that the movie was better than the book, but I will say that it helped me to appreciate the book a lot more. I thought it was very well done.
