The thing that scared me was the fact it was happening in their sleep when they were completely defenseless and they did not know about it.

Going to watch this in Cinema on Wednesday (2 for 1 etc...) and see what it's like in the cinema, but I have a feeling actually watching it on your own, on the laptop and in the dark is alot scarier LOL. (Also to see the ending too )

Ahh mate, I did this too. Just got back about five minutes ago and it's well worth it. There are a few new scenes, scares and enhancements that make it much better. And for the ending, well, I'll let you make up your own mind. Let's just say most of the cinema screamed (including me)!

Hmm I can't believe I actually thought it was all real footage  LOL

I did think it was a bit of a let-down. The cinema was full, and they left the lights on (well, dimmed them a bit...). The only bit that made me a bit scared was the ending, but I think it was the jumpy moments that made it so bad.

The hype around it definitely built it up for me, and whilst it was decent it wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be. I saw Drag Me To Hell in the cinema, and that's sort of similar to it with the whole Demon thing but bleh. I think if you believed it was real then it would actually frighten you. One thing that really annoyed me though is how the script sort of avoids a crucial part of the story as to why she was being targeted. I'd have liked them to go more into that, but I guess it's hard to in the context of how the film was being shot...

Woah! Watched this film today and I almost crapped my pants! There wasn't really that many people in the cinema which made it even more scary to watch.

This film is for anyone who wants a good old fashioned scare! Go and see this movie! Don't watch it on your own!

Yeah this was bloody awful. Not even scary, everything that happened was so obviously coming and the ending was quite LAME.

I JUST watched this. Some ridiculous time in the morning. Coincidentally it ended in the same time period that all the "hauntings" happened. Um, it was ok i guess... I was expecting more.. I mean this is probably the first intended horror film that didnt make me jump  Yes, im easily scared. It did make my heart beat faster though, especially at the end. I felt like, if The Strangers was actually based on a true story, then this would be its inspiration. Half the time i didnt think i was watching a horror film but more of a documentary which i guess was kind of the point.. I wouldnt call it one of the scariest films of all time though...

I have to say.. Standing ovation to the PR team behind this..

I didn't jump at anything and I thought the end where she roars towards the camera was tacky. BUT. I had goosebumps for practically the whole thing, it was good at building tension and had an actual storyline which is unusual for a Hollywood horror film.

tbh for what this is, which is an amataur film, not made by professionals, just some guy who filmed it with a basic camera all in his house, i think it is brilliant, it isnt that suitable for the mass distribution it got.

The best thing about it was how the night scenes gradually got scarier, the happenings were getting worse, if it was done at a different pace it would of been that bad, if you just saw one bit, it wouldnt seem scary, like one part all that happened was a load of bangs, a door shut a few times, and a tv turned on, and it was scary as f***, but if it wasnt after all the past scenes, wouldnt of been anything near scary.

it was scary yes, but it isnt anywhere near scariest of all time like a lot of people/media have said.

the brilliant thing is how the director made simple things such as a door closing or a bang from downstairs so scary.

Really i liked this, and found it genuinely terrifying. It forces you to watch each shadow, expecting to see something, but then catches you off balance with something else.

This is the only film that has really scared me.

I am amazed so many people found this scary. :o It is more of a comedy than a horror if you ask me, although tbh I find that with most American horror films. I found the film pretty bloody dire tbh and quite possibly the most over-hyped and overrated film of the decade. There was nothing remotely frightning or different about this and both actors were awful imo and very dislikeable. I was really looking forward to it, but came out feeling as though I had been totally ripped off. It was a total bore-fest and little girls screaming in the cinema at things that have been done a thousand times in other films during it made me dislike it even further.

With Paranormal Activity, the comparisons to The Blair Witch Project films just keep on coming. Like Blair Witch, 2009’s Little Film That Could was made on a shoestring budget and cleverly marketed into mega-success. Now, Paramount has hired a writer and director for the film currently called Paranormal Activity 2. Just as when Artisan made the Blair Witch sequel, the studio is keeping original Paranormal creators Jason Blum and Oren Peli on the payroll as producers, but is giving the reigns to different talent. In this case, said talent happens to be screenwriter Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert, the latter of which you may recall directed the most recent Saw film.

THR reports on the new deal and says that the film is still set to be released on October 22, where it will compete with Saw VII. Paramount isn’t saying anything about the plot or title of the new film, but Peli has gone to bat for the new guys. ” These guys get it, and the fans won’t be disappointed,” he said. The big irony here is that Paranormal Activity’s success flew right in the face of Greutert’s Saw VI, and the ’showdown’ between the two played some part in the green light for this sequel. Not that the director is likely to be blamed for Saw’s recent underperformance — how much longer can that series sustain itself?

Greutert’s experience with the Saw films goes way beyond directing the most recent film; he edited the first five films in the series, as well as Repo! The Genetic Opera. So that’s a good sign. If Paramount lets Perry and Greutert do their work, this one could work out I’ll be curious to see how this one works out. Some of the issues with the second Blair Witch film (which was directed by the very competent documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger) reportedly came when Artisan mucked about with the edit.

What’s the real lesson to keep in mind here? That Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 made $46m worldwide, and that was with only Artisan, a small outfit compared to Paramount, behind it. Based on the curiosity factor alone, Paramount will probably make money on this one. Lots of it. How many of the people who made the first film a hit really know the name Oren Peli? Not a lot, I’d wager.

a sequel was always gonna be $h!t, but in this case it's worse.

Bought this on DVD today (Yes I loved it THAT much). I did the same thing as I did when I saw it the first time (Lights off, laptop etc...) but watched the theatrical ending instead. MY GOD I WAS STILL SCARED :( The theatrical ending crapped me up, BIG TIME. OTT? Yes. But I was still shit scared HAHA. *Goes to watch some nice non-scary telly*
