Take That have broken more records after their latest DVD sold enough copies in just one day to make it the fastest-selling music DVD of all time in the UK, according to the Official Charts Company.

Released last Monday, Take That Present: The Circus Live smashed the previous record for first-week sales held by Now That’s What I Call A Music Quiz. That title sold 66,000 in its first week, while Take That surpassed that total in just 24 hours, selling an incredible 82,414 copies and gaining the band their fourth consecutive number one DVD.

The sales tally easily breaks Take That’s own previous fastest-selling concert DVD in the UK: Beautiful World Live sold 19,000 copies in its first day and 64,000 copies in its first week of release.

Polydor senior marketing manager Emma Powell says the company has already shipped more than 300,000 DVDs. She adds, “The stadium tour was so spectacular we always knew this was going to be a pretty amazing DVD and the Abbey Road footage – showing a completely different side of the band – is getting incredible feedback from fans as well. We didn’t want to take anything for granted but the demand shows how loved the band are.”

A HMV spokesman says his company had record pre-orders for the DVD title via hmv.com. “We are seeing a real surge in demand through our stores around the country. This is a phenomenal performance for a non-studio release, and it underlines the band’s massive popularity,” he adds.

A double live CD, The Greatest Day, which features the Wembley Stadium show and Abbey Road Studios sessions with the band performing highlights from their last two best-selling albums, is released today (Monday).

And another bit from Music Week

Take That’s new concert album The Circus Live makes its CD debut today (30th) but came out on DVD last week, surging to first week sales of 181,979 – the highest ever for a music video. It is number four on the overall video chart where Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs debuts at the summit on sales of 660,376.

So there's your answer :)

The Live cd is of to a great start number 3 in the midweeks behind westlife and susan boyle. Id love take that to hold up but i think they are very safe for top 10 now which im delighted with for the live album.

Got my CD today! Can't wait to play the Abbey Road sessions in the car on the way to work - I think I'll be playing HDICTT over and over again!!!!!

Now I don't own a TT album, but the live one is playing at work and I'm going to get it :D May get the DVD for Xmas too as it does look amazing.

Matt - you have to get the DVD (or at least borrow one from a fan to watch). There's loads of stuff that is on the DVD that is missing on the live CD (the creepy musical box intro, the lead up to Pray, the elephant!) Having said that ... once you have listened to the live stuff (and don't forget to give the Abbey Road session a good listen - it is the best) you won't want to hear a studio album from them - they're just too good live.

I am LOVING the Abbey Road Session CD  . The tracks that stand out for me are HDICTT, Rule the World and Julie.

The Greatest Day - Take That Present The Circus Live

The sheer personality vacuum of Westlife is enough to make you long for the days of Robbie, Gary, Mark, Jason, and Howard. Of course, we've been enjoying their unexpected second act (minus Mr Williams, obviously) for several years now. This limited edition live double album is effectively a celebration of this most remarkable of comebacks.

The first CD contains highlights from the final show of their last tour at Wembley and spans the group's entire career, while the second consists of intimate versions of their best post-comeback material recorded at Abbey Road studios. Live albums are often unnecessary indulgences but this one contains some real gems. Perhaps it has something to do with Take That's unusually affectionate bond with their audience but classics like Back For Good and Never Forget are enhanced by their live setting.

If anything though, disc two is the real treat. Mark Owen has referred to these as "the Sunday morning versions of the songs" and they showcase both what good songwriters they all now are and what good singers they've always been. If you only buy one CD by a man-band this Christmas, make it this one.

I particularly agree with the bit I've highlighted in bold. The Abbey Road Session is the 'bees knees'. I can't stop repeating HDICTT! In fact ... I would have paid good money for this and skipped the live concert highlights. For me ... once you've seen the concerts or the dvd of the concerts - the cd itself is a let-down. You HAVE to see it ALL - the banter in-between, the medleys, the crowd reaction, the spectacle of the circus performers and most especially ... the visible performance of the guys.

And to pick a bit from the 'Q' (FIVE STAR) review of the DVD - they harmonise like angels!

Oh bless 'Q' - what a lovely thing to say and so true. That's what so great about the Abbey Road CD - you can hear them all singing so clearly and the harmonies are really gorgeous. It really showcases their talents.

I can the album holding top 3 now come sunday and a very good chance will sell over 100,000 this week alone, if it hold up right through the christmas period this will easily go platnum, im so happy this album has done well.
Someone should tell th epeople on TTO forum that the dvd sell doesn't count to the album chart  (and they are still dreaming that they will get over Westlife, which i don't think so, as the promotion of the CD is quite inexistent )

I wouldn't waste my breath tbh, when I was a member on that board I'd answer a question and the following ten posts would be people still asking the same question. I don't wanna slag people off, and I'm sorry if there are any TTO forum members here but the majority of them are bloody thick.

I hardly ever go on there anymore, especially if I want to see if there's any news. I'm much more likely to get it here first! The petty squabbling also does my head in

Who were you when you posted there? I feel exactly the same way as you do. I'd post an answer to a question (backing it up with figures, facts, etc) and yet the following posts looked as though the answer hadn't been read! They only read and acknowledge what they want to hear. It wasn't so bad when it was the old site - but when the new one came along ... a lot of the interesting (and intelligent) posters ... Luiseach was one ... were never seen again. They seem to just post a load of pictures too ... I mean some ain't bad but loads of posters there just won't let go of the past and keep posting pictures from TT MK1! And I'm sorry but in that era ... apart from Jason ... none of them were oil-paintings!

By the way ... whenever I do bother to post over there ... I'm Gloria Stitz! I'm forever getting told I'm not a proper fan ... one of the reasons being that I thought the song Gary wrote with Alesha Dixon was a bit pants! I mean ... I love the song he wrote with NDubz - at least it had life ... but the Alesha one! Although I must admit ... just lately it has gone up in my estimation from yawn to ... OK.

Agreement on this too! I like discussing the music in general ... without all the 'who's you're second favourite' $h!te posts! I'm also a bit tired of the set up of the site itself. It gives the fans no information at all. The only time it gives any info out is when it has something to sell.

I was Jay91 on there and then just went as Ethan when the new board started up (although I made about 3 posts on the new one before giving up). There were some great people on there, and I had a lot of fun, but most people were very petty and it was full of little cliques. And yeah the Alesha song if pretty rubbish. In fact I was saying to a mate just the other day that he obviously saves all the good songs for Take That because when he writes for other people they're usually not that brilliant
