But 'Singles' are only having these long Chart stays due to Downloads.

It is nothing to do with them Selling more than in previous Decades.

'Rule The World' spent 68 Weeks on the Chart, & it has sold no-where near as

many as 'Back For Good' - 13 Chart Weeks. So - yes, a lot of 'Singles' are Charting

for longer - but, their Sales are often not as big as many old Hits, that spent far less

time on the Charts.....

The long Chart Runs are very misleading.....

Surely a measure of a songs popularity is its total sales, whether that was in one week or ten years ;)

Not really ... else how do you account for say, last year's 'help for heroes' song ... which sold bucketloads ... in a short span ... but I can't even remember the name of the song they sang or what it goes like! People just get caught up in the euphoria of the hype. I must admit ... in BL's case ... the hype was justified ... but her's is an exception.

Chasing Cars will so be a number one soon. :heehee: This is the undying anthem.

It's also depressing shite, their worst song by far and the second worst song ever after No Doubt - Don't Speak (imo)

This is an interesting chart. Those Kings of Leon songs and Rehab had better disappear soon so they don't overtake Rule The World. I too consider Rule The World the final winner in that Bleeding Love/Rule The World chart battle a couple years ago.

'Rehab' is long gone, and I should think US will be out of the top 75 in not too long unless it gets another promo boost. SOF will overtake RTW into third place though I think.

Chasing Cars is a decent song but has suffered from being over-played. Don't Speak OTOH has always been rubbish.

How dare you insult the fantastic Don't Speak.

If it makes you feel any better, I liked it before I heard my sister singing it.

Hardly  Bleeding Love has nearly sold a million in the UK alone, whereas Rule The World is only on 600-700k? or something like that! Love both songs though :)

'Bleeding Love' is better than 'Rule The World' but both should've been #1 tbh :(

Edit: Didn't read the whole thread.

Make Chasing Cars 93 weeks now as it's been confirmed another top 75 week in the chart chat thread.
Expect Rule The World to add a few more weeks to its tally as Stacey will be singing it on X Factor tonight.
OP you can change Rule The World to 71 weeks, confirmed in this week's chart show thread.
