June 7, 201114 yr By listening to it, you wouldn't think she has been inspired by the likes of Adele and Florence.
June 7, 201114 yr Only 3 uptempos :( REALLY hoping I'm not disappointed, though it sounds I might be...
June 7, 201114 yr Although i am unsure on the album as a whole, i really can't see this being a huge seller. But every artists has a flop or a low seller at some point so Beyonce isn't any superior.
June 7, 201114 yr This is genuinely one of the dullest albums I have ever heard. Sure, she probably made the record she really wanted to (well done Bey etc) but the continuous midtempo R&B sound really doesn't do anything for me. Run the World (Girls) doesn't make much sense thrown on at the end either. I'm still scratching my head over the fact she worked with Sleigh Bells but didn't do anything with their sessions. She loves to shout! Perfect match! For someone as respected as her she sure does make average music.
June 7, 201114 yr Girls is the odd one out on the album. The album does have a nice rhythm throughout and then all of the sudden Girls comes on and it's like im on different album.
June 7, 201114 yr It's awful... I didn't like any of the singles, and the album is just dull and samey! I've always found her albums to be very dull, but this is her worst!
June 7, 201114 yr I already got one from the Triangle dude. Must say, I really am loving this  Will rate once I finish listening, gotta watch Cougar Town and Hot In Cleaveland.
June 7, 201114 yr 08 Best Thing I Never Had 03 1+1 07 I Care 06 I Miss You 07 Party 05 Rather Die Young 06 Start Over 06 Love On Top 06 Countdown 07 End Of Time 07 I Was Here 05 Run The World (Girls) 6.1/10 or thereabouts if you work by those scores. If I was reviewing it I'd probably give it a 2.5/5.
June 7, 201114 yr Run The World was a bit average but it showed she was going in a fun new direction I had hope it would be quite uptempo and left-field...instead its just dull. Countdown and I Was Here are the only two good songs, not even great just good.
June 7, 201114 yr My rate: 1+1 - 9 I Care - 10 (starts off sounding like something Rihanna would've had on Rated R :o) I Miss You - 5 (dull :() Best Thing I Never Had - 10 Party - 8 Rather Die Young - 8.5 Start Over - 9 Love On Top - 8 (sounds quite dated, but great) Countdown - 9.5 End Of Time - 10 I Was Here - 10 (stunning, probably one of my fave Bey songs already! Best thing on the album by miles!) Run The World (Girls) - 9.5 Rank: 1. I Was Here 2. End Of Time 3. Best Thing I Never Had 4. I Care 5. Run The World (Girls) 6. Countdown 7. 1+1 8. Start Over 9. Rather Die Young 10. Party 11. Love On Top 12. I Miss You Good, solid album - but probably the weakest out of the big popstars this year (BTW > FF > Love? > 4)
June 7, 201114 yr You gave 8 songs 9/10 or more but the album is just 'solid'? I dread to think how you scored those other albums!
June 7, 201114 yr You gave 8 songs 9/10 or more but the album is just 'solid'? I dread to think how you scored those other albums! I'm maybe a bit OTT and generous with album scores in general. BTW was mostly 10s for me, the lowest was a 9. Love? had lower scores than 4 in general, but the highlights were greater. Femme Fatale had two songs below 5/10 but the rest was brilliant. Although on 2nd listen, Love On Top and Party are boring me so they may go down to like 4 or 5 out of 10.
June 7, 201114 yr Unsurprisingly I'm going to strongly disagree with all the people who dislike this album, as I feel that this has to be my favourite album she has ever done. My favourite genre of music is R&B and my favourite style of music is ballads, so this album is just perfect for me. I love the strength of her vocals on all the songs and I can really feel the emotion she has put into the album. Even if this album isn't successful for her, I'm really happy she's done this album as you can tell that she's put her all into it. My favourite songs in order: 01. "1+1" (10/10) 02. "I Care" (10/10) 03. "Rather Die Young" (9.5/10) 04. "Countdown" (9/10) 05. "I Was Here" (9/10) 06. "Best Thing I Never Had" (9/10) 07. "Start Over" (8/10) 08. "Love on Top" (8/10) 09. "End of Time" (8/10) 10. "Party" (8/10) 11. "Run the World (Girls)" (8/10) 12. "I Miss You" (7/10)
June 7, 201114 yr I honestly don't think the ballads are anywhere near as strong or emotional as the likes of Satellites, Disappear etc off IASF. They feel like a huge step backwards actually. The best one is I Care which has stunning verses but the chorus sadly spoils things somewhat.

The best one is I Care which has stunning verses but the chorus sadly spoils things somewhat. I think they're much more emotional, plus the rawness of her voice really adds to the songs, for me. I've never been a fan of "Disappear" but even though I love "Satellites", I definitely think it falls flat in comparison to the ballads on 4. For me, this album is flawless.
June 7, 201114 yr Is there a CDQ leak, or is it only MQ? The zip file I downloaded is MQ, so if anyone has a CDQ version I'd be grateful for a link :D
