Posted November 27, 200915 yr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azP06U0ooWU MGMT began writing for the album in early 2009 in a "small cabin in the woods", eventually heading to Malibu to record with Pete Kember, ex-member of Spacemen 3, and vocal contributions from Royal Trux singer Jennifer Herrema. VanWyngarden has stated that the album is influenced by the band's massive rise in popularity since Oracular Spectacular's release, saying "it's us trying to deal with all the craziness that's been going on since our last album took off. Sometimes it just doesn't feel natural." As of November 6, 2009, the new album is being mixed by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann. According to Alt-Nation (Satellite radio), MGMT are working on a "top secret" project with Sir Paul McCartney. It is unclear if the song(s) will be included on 'Congratulations.'
November 30, 200915 yr Oracular Spectacular was a fine album, Has the single [Congratulations] leaked yet?
November 30, 200915 yr I don't think it would be an understatement to say Sir Paul McCartney collaborating with MGMT is a better idea than him appearing on the final of X-Factor.
December 1, 200915 yr I don't think it would be an understatement to say Sir Paul McCartney collaborating with MGMT is a better idea than him appearing on the final of X-Factor. Absolutely right.
February 18, 201015 yr Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember? Jennifer Herrema? Dave Fridmann? Paul McCartney????? I think we can actually seriously think about chiselling the piece of marble marked "Album of the Year" tbh......
February 18, 201015 yr im looking forward to hearing this new material but at the same time im not too sure to what to expect but i have a feeling i wont like the songs in the league that i adore kids.
February 19, 201015 yr Author for a band known for grotesque artwork, the new album sure lives up to its predecessors... vile. :puke2:
February 19, 201015 yr I dunno, I think it's a nice illustration in itself that functions (fairly well) as album artwork. Glad they didn't ruin it by using text. I predict this album will suck but who knows. Their last had one amazing song (Time to Pretend) and three okay ones.
February 19, 201015 yr Ya i have a feeling this album could very well disapoint from what people have said about what they heard, i wont be rushing out to buy it i will be waiting til i hear a gud bit of the material, i was happy with the first album though.
February 20, 201015 yr I love the cover .... very Hipnosis Prog Rock meets modern computer graphics, I wonder if it is a reflection of the music within it ...
March 9, 201015 yr I love the cover .... very Hipnosis Prog Rock meets modern computer graphics, I wonder if it is a reflection of the music within it ... Listening to this track then ........ Yes! NJObQxaR_FM MGMT - Flash Delirium
March 9, 201015 yr If anyone is interested, my mate done work experience at NME a few weeks ago and heard this album and hasnt shut up about it since, will easily be album of the year according to him.
March 9, 201015 yr Absolutely love it! To me it sounds really Ziggy Stardust-inspired.. or is that just me? Either way, it's brilliant!
March 10, 201015 yr I've liked all the EPs and Albums from MGMT so far and i doubt my opinion will be any different on the new album.. Apparently there are no singles which is kind of dissapointing as there won't be a kids or time to pretend but i found the album tracks on their last album just as good if not better than the singles anyway.
March 10, 201015 yr It annoys me that bands say "there are no singles"... A hit song or two on the album doesn't necessarily mean that the rest must be crap. That's just crap talk imo.. Why won't they just say that "these are the ten best songs we have right now"? Ten great songs can't make a bad album in any circumstances. Oh well...I'm happy that they're back with decent stuff.
March 11, 201015 yr Love 'Flash Delirium' so much, if the whole album is as good it will certainly be one of the albums of the year! Wasn't actually too keen on the debut, despite loving the singles.
