I wilkl be just glad i'm wrong :kink:

I was just thinking...maybe you are right...I just realized that nobody have the mp3 of Nickiffer :snif: except the ones who declared that they like from the beggining.

also people from semi 1 didn't have a chance listening to a song and give the time to grow on them. [/dramaqueen]

Thanks for all the lovely odds, Torchwood just want back in the top 10 :P

I shall post my odds later this week when I have listened to the tracks again ;o

Interestingly, i knew how This Is Who I Am would sound before listening to it for the first time today totally. I mean Rich likes it enough to make the Top 50 song of the decade :kink:

#92 :smoke:

it would be generic by anyone else but Vanessa's voice is like a power house of sound and makes the song infinitely more interesting than it should be

40 places don't really matter if we speak about the Top of the DECADE :o

it's hardly surprising that I love it, in 2000/1 I was probably the only Vanessa loon :heehee: I've followed her career ever since too, and have all of her albums, some that were only released in Germany, as well as her Best Of album which I expect few people know exists

she's one of my favourite singers of the decade quite easily!!! I'm gutted that she was a one hit wonder here because her voice is one of the most powerful voices in pop music in my opinion

LOL I didn't even know who she was until this time :(

:o

she still has one song to come in my top 40 of the decade :kink:

This is like me liking Flobots, no one really cares about them apart from myself. :kink:

LOL I hope it didn't cost much, seeing as it should technically be a 1 track CD. :heehee:

I loved "Absolutely Everybody" but, like most people, that's the only song I've known by her. Her voice sounds quite different on this. I sorta like it, but she seems to have one of those borderline cabaret 'power voices'. I'm not surprised you like her though, her voice isn't too dissimilar to Shakira. Both sound like throat (?) singers (if you know what I mean) I don't rate it very highly. :(

rude :smoke:

it cost about £4 I think :heehee: she had tons of hits in Australia and I'm familiar with them all so I don't really care that she was a one hit wonder in the UK...just like I never cared that Robyn was a one hit wonder here (up until 2007) even though I followed her career right the way through from Show Me Love onwards. I do know what you mean, although I like Shakira more than Vanessa and for a very different reason - her quirkiness  I guess I feel like I've grown up with Vanessa's music so it means something that bit more special to me for her to come back with something great after so many years in the wilderness so to speak

Haha, I assumed as much, seemed unlikely that she'd have had this hit in 2000 and achieved a #1 in 2009. I know what you mean, though I don't think I've ever followed a one hit wonder properly, other than their hit. I suppose I will continue to follow Sara Bareilles, let's hope she doesn't need almost 10 years to have her next hit. :(

I follow a lot of one hit (UK) wonders in the desperate hopes that they'll have more; Sara Bareilles, Daniel Powter, Agnes (probably :snif:)...and loads of dance acts...poor Sara will probably never see the charts again, which is gutting because Winter Song should be a xmas standard by now

Vanessa never had the chance to escape one hit wonder status because unlike those other artists, she never released anything else here - Shine, the gorgeous planned second single which was on course for a top 20 hit at the time and had received promotion, was cancelled at the last minute :(

I'm no Vanessa loon though like you are with Beverly Knight :kink:! Her new single Hazardous is out in Australia next week and it's so far reached #48 in my chart because it's a drastic step down in quality from This Is Who I Am - nobody charts high on name alone in the Good Delta Hit Parade :heehee:

Oh right, I didn't realise that. People got dropped and had singles cancelled far too easily back in those days. I suppose sometimes cancelling a single can be for the best, certain artists scream one hit wonder. I'd be surprised to see the likes of Jason Derulo, Mini Viva or Example matching the success of their previous hits, for example.

Beverley! :drama: Are you suggesting I chart her high on name alone?! you may have a point, my (now) least favourite from the album already peaked at #2 for me.

indeed, it was a real shame :( if it wasn't heading for top ten, that was the end...

Mini Viva are on the Radio 1 a-list aren't they with the new single? I guess it should go top 20 by that reckoning but it really is just a Call The Shots clone, whereas Left My Heart In Tokyo was quite a fresh and quirky pop song by comparison. Jason DeRulo might not be a one hit wonder though, US urban acts who you might expect to be one hit wonders have a tendency to come back because they have loads of money thrown behind them all the time (Souja Boy anyone!?!)

Oh DEAR! that's the first time I've ever spelt Beverley's name wrong!!! I'm usually the person correcting people with the spelling!!! what's your now least favourite song on the album? :o the closest I've ever come to the loondom you have with Beverley is of course with Delta Goodrem, when in late 2004, the ENTIRE top 6 of my chart consisted solely of tracks from her album Mistaken Identity

I love the santa hats :o :kink:

BaNG ftw :D
