December 10, 200915 yr And if any, it will only make even more publicity for Simon and his show. It works both ways as some people have jumped the gun and it's #80 on iTunes  Of course it's most likely not gonna happen but it's gonna be so good to have a song like this in the top 40 for christmas instead of the same old same old! Still as I think I've said before whoever wins now will have sales more similar to Leon Jackson than to Alexandra or Leona so who knows? There could be sheep for Rage or the Muppets just like the X Factor as the public are easily swayed so it would be nice if they all went into a different pen this year! Listened to the RATM song - What a load of old $h!t  It amazes me that people will waste their money downloading this surely you're all not that deluded to think it will beat the XF winners song? Are you that narrow minded that you've never heard it?
December 10, 200915 yr Author And to Slick and mr self destruct, I was not in the least offended personally. I swear as good as the rest of you but choose not to when it may offend others less broadminded or easily influenced (ie in front of Children). Guests to this Forum may look at a thread like this and decide BJ not for them and thus we miss the oppurtunity to converse with a broad diversity of people. the more members the Forum has the better, surely ? (Whether they swear or not in normal day-to-day life) Well tbh we have what like 8000 members now? were not exactly struggling, but yes it would be nice to have a broader diversity of people, because that is what this forum lacks the most in users. Listened to the RATM song - What a load of old $h!t  It amazes me that people will waste their money downloading this surely you're all not that deluded to think it will beat the XF winners song? 'old $h!t' - you pinpoint the fact that it's 'old', infact it is as old as me, almost 18 years, are you so closeminded that when you listen to music, you put the fact that it is 'old' as a downside, oh dear. 'waste money on it'? Are you saying the 4 albums, 2 dvds and the one time I saw them, was a waste of money, :( it isnt a waste of money if people LIKE IT, just because you dont, doesnt mean other people wont. Thats the problem with you, are you really that egotistsic that you think just because you dont like it, everyone else wont, you arent the only one in the world who has an opinon. Also, will people really be wasting their money on it, I think a lot of people would find it worth paying 79p just to help try to take x factor down. And again, like I have told other people in this thread, WOULD IT REALLY HURT TO READ THE OTHER f***ING* REPLIES no one in here have said that we THINK that it will beat X Factor, of course it wont, but as the days go, the campaign is getting bigger and getting more publicity, even Tom Morello knows about now, so its almost starting to get a chance. What I find really funny is the fact you probaly listen 100% to only female artists that have charted. pathetic. AND NOW TO BERTIE: I am sorry but, you are acting like a small child who is incapable of debate, Seriously, just how serious are you taking this? because you are taking it like we are trying to take you personally off the christmas number 1, ARE YOU SECRETLY SIMON COWELL? Really, why do you find the idea of the x factor not being christmas number 1 so bad? literally what is your problem with it? You are just acting like a plain lunatic tbh; I am really confused as to why you care so much, especially seeing as you dont live in the f***ing* UK. Oh and I love how people are treating RATM like they are just another pwn in the music industry, they arent just like any other band you see in the top ten, they arent in music to make money like everyone who goes on the x factor is, everyone in the top 20 is, and everyone who people who are anti-RATM in this thread, all the people they listen do, are you guessed it, in the music industry for money. RATM are not they are in it through passion and politics, to get their message across, can people stop treating them like another f***ing* pawn in the music business, and for what they are. *I apologise immediately for my use of swearing.
December 10, 200915 yr I bought RATM first time round, so I'll buy it again this time.... Oh wouldn't it be lovely if it beat the XFactor dirge, unfortunately too many stupid people with hearing disorders in the UK for that to happen
December 10, 200915 yr I suspect Cowell would be very happy to finish second or even third with the winner's single if it sells another 25% more than projected. To this end, you kinda wonder if he may even be behind the RATM / Muppets releases - how else would an Internet nerd campaign gather so much speed and press attention? Err, I think you completely underestimate the power of the Internet mate.... The Muppets thing got started on You Tube and got over 7 million hits in two days, I'd say there was sufficient demand for a release.... The RATM thing started off as a couple of blokes on Facebook and is now gathering momentum.... You think Cowell would be happy with No2 or No3, come off it mate.... The man's massive, overblown sense of self importance and planet-sized ego wouldn't be able to handle losing out to the Muppets especially..... The Muppets have nothing to do with Sony anyway dude..... As for this comparison between X-Factor and RATM just cos they're sort of on the same label (people seem to forget that RATM actually signed to Epic), it's ridiculous... It's a completely different "product" at the end of the day... I mean Nestle make Milky Bars and bloody Winalot dog food..... You wouldn't compare those would you....?
December 10, 200915 yr Well, in the last few pages I've tried to express my views on things, I don't think I've been offensing anyone whatsoever, but it appears not many people in this thread was willing to understand/accept my point neither were they open to my opinion, so I give up debating with you (it's a shame I come to say this on a chat forum), because whatever I may say, you will always brand me the ignorant one because I have a different opinion on a few topics. So I don't give a damn anymore, good luck with your anti-Cowell propaganda, I don't think it'll do the man any harm anyway. ...And still waiting...... :coffee: Bert, I'm beginning to suspect that you're just like a kid throwing all his toys out of the pram.... "I give up debating with you"... WTF's that....??? Does this mean that you just have no counter-argument at all... I really just dont get what your problem is tbh.. Why are so keen to defend Cowell...? What's it to you....?
December 10, 200915 yr . What I find really funny is the fact you probaly listen 100% to only female artists that have charted. pathetic. I agree.... Frankly, I dont believe that you can have a well-rounded view of music if you only listen to one or two types or sub-genres.... The facts are, that if one looks hard enough, there's at least something to like in just about all genres of music.... Which is why I rate P!nk, Goldfrapp and Lady GaGa, because I've fukkin' well LISTENED..... But of course, this sort of ignorance and narrow-mindedness is certainly not limited to fans of Female chart acts, it's also unfortunately rather vociferous in the Death/Black Metal scene.... I've had arguements with mates of mine who have similar rather limited music tastes.....
December 10, 200915 yr It's not about arguments and counter arguments. I've exposed my arguments (and been called a loon, a lunatic, etc etc for that), you've expressed your arguments, and we both failed to convince anybody. People all seem to stuck to their opinions on this topic, and the topic seems to be ridiculously sensible to the point it's getting quite violent in my opinion. So what's the point in repeating the same stuff again and again just for the shake of it? I think we all got each other's points, so there's no point in milking this debate in my opinion. But this is my opinion, of course you're free to go on with it, I'm not meaning you should stop, I just say I leave it to you ;)
December 10, 200915 yr This is one of the most pertinent things...what makes records sell better than a media-sponsorted "chart battle"? How many people picked up copies of 'Country House' and 'Wonderwall' they didn't ever want in the first place? It was actually "Roll With It" by Oasis mate.... But this was a "battle" between two bands from a specific genre... This is more like "Everyone Else Vs X-Factor".... The Muppets thing particularly is a completely random variable...
December 10, 200915 yr Err, I think you completely underestimate the power of the Internet mate.... The Muppets thing got started on You Tube and got over 7 million hits in two days, I'd say there was sufficient demand for a release.... The RATM thing started off as a couple of blokes on Facebook and is now gathering momentum.... I was meaning the facebook thing - I'm massively surprised by how it managed to get out there so quickly. Most of these 'campaigns' don't ever reach any further than their pals. You think Cowell would be happy with No2 or No3, come off it mate.... The man's massive, overblown sense of self importance and planet-sized ego wouldn't be able to handle losing out to the Muppets especially..... The Muppets have nothing to do with Sony anyway dude..... I don't think he'd have a problem. I still think the money rules him more. The X-Factor winner would probably be upset but they'll just rig his or her follow up single to come out in a very quiet week and give them their number one kudos then.
December 10, 200915 yr It was actually "Roll With It" by Oasis mate.... But this was a "battle" between two bands from a specific genre... This is more like "Everyone Else Vs X-Factor".... The Muppets thing particularly is a completely random variable... So it was...blanked that particular song from my mind. Dunno if you can compare Country House with Roll With It anyway - one is farting, parping nonsense from four guys who should know better and the other is the sound of Status Quo committing suicide.
December 10, 200915 yr Author Whatever. Insult me whatsoever, I don't care. :) Simon for number 1   You quite clearly dont have a clue do you. Are you going to take the ferry to England next week to buy the x factor single to get it to number 1? I appreciate some people may for some f***ed up reason WANT the x factor be number 1, but if you do, please actually have a clue what you are talking about, I am really to debate with people, but if you are acting like Bert here, dont bother, it just makes you look like an ignorant nonce who takes this whole thing FAAAAAAAAR to seriously. Honestly, I gave him a bit of critcism, and look how he has responded, he literally didnt even reply to me, the crazy thing is, he is taking this far more seriously than me and grimly, do you think either of us truely care if rage wont make number 1? its obviously they wont and it will be x factor, will me and grimly care? no we will just live our lives, cos we dont actually care that much, we arent making pictures against the other side, and acting like well, a 8 year old who loves the x factor, and the funniest thing is, DONT YOU ACTUALLY LIVE IN FRANCE BERT?? not even your number 1 mate, get over it, Oh and I have a question, are you really 22? I fail believe someone as immature as you could be 22.
December 10, 200915 yr The X Factor Simon: (at Press Conference) The RATM campaign is aimed directly at me. It's stupid. If I don't get a Christmas No 1, it doesn't change my life... but it does for the finalists.
December 10, 200915 yr Lol at the people who "don't care" but care enough to write long and boring posts directed at me while I have said I gave up with the debate to avoid any other rows here... And I don't get your "you're French so shut up" argument? Do you mean foreign people shouldn't talk and debate about Britsh music and British charts? If so you're not going to make many friends on here....
December 10, 200915 yr The X Factor Simon: (at Press Conference) The RATM campaign is aimed directly at me. It's stupid. If I don't get a Christmas No 1, it doesn't change my life... but it does for the finalists. It does neither. After all, Susan Boyle did a good job when not winning BGT and not having a #1 single yet look at the album sales go! All this campaign does is put $$$ into the pockets at Sony. They are running a slick viral marketing campaign. It is to be admired.
December 10, 200915 yr My god, theres so much good songs they could use instead of this crap. Edited December 10, 200915 yr by SoManyOstriches
December 10, 200915 yr My god, theres so much good songs they could use instead of this crap. But they had to use old ones where Sony owned the back catalogue. RATM fitted the bill as it's seen as anti and nice on the $$$. Now Simon Cowell is promoting it. Viral marketing at it's best.
December 10, 200915 yr The X Factor Simon: (at Press Conference) The RATM campaign is aimed directly at me. It's stupid. If I don't get a Christmas No 1, it doesn't change my life... but it does for the finalists. It may not change his life but he obviously still cares or he wouldn't try and claim that it would change the winner's life if they didn't make number one. What a ridiculous claim. Depeche Mode have never had a number one single. Does Cowell think they feel themselves to be failures as a result? Oh, and welcome to the forum :)
December 10, 200915 yr Author The X Factor Simon: (at Press Conference) The RATM campaign is aimed directly at me. It's stupid. If I don't get a Christmas No 1, it doesn't change my life... but it does for the finalists. Yeah but the finalists know what it's all about, if they werent so twisted by the idea of fame and fortune, and cared about much more important stuff, does simon ever think maybe RATM getting a christmas number 1 would change their life, cos even if RATM did get number 1, the x factor single will still sell f*** loads and still make the winner f*** loads of money, so they should get over the fact they didnt make no.1. Lol at the people who "don't care" but care enough to write long and boring posts directed at me while I have said I gave up with the debate to avoid any other rows here... And I don't get your "you're French so shut up" argument? Do you mean foreign people shouldn't talk and debate about Britsh music and British charts? If so you're not going to make many friends on here.... Dont twist my words Bert, did I say 'you're French so shut up', i'm just making the point that it hardly even affects you seeing as yanno, you wont even be contributing to the x factor single, seeing as it doesnt come out in France, i'm not sayig you shouldnt debate it, but maybe if you were debating it rather than acting more like a 12 year old internet troll, we wouldnt be having this arguement. I find it funny how someone from another country (because we are talking UK number 1 here, i am not saying English are superior, dont try to denonce me as a racist for these words, like Bert just tried, I am a member of an anti-racism group called 'Love Music Hate Racism' so dont even start) But yes, someone from a different country actually cares more about what is the UK number 1, more than people in the UK, odd :s And i also didnt say i 'dont care' infact im confused why you put quotation marks around two things, where are you quoting from, cos i didnt say those things. Obviously I do care to some degree, otherwise I wouldnt be replying in this thread, but it really frustrates me when we try to discuss things like adults in this forum then someone like you comes along and quite frankly, acts 10 years younger. You cant give up on a debate, infact by giving up on the debate, that means you agree with the other side, which you clearly dont, it just shows that you are a moron who fails to be able to bring up strong enough points to properly debate.
