December 20, 200915 yr Ive already read of leaks wheather they are true or not I dunno.. where? use spoiler tabs... :D
December 20, 200915 yr I do not think that it is right to target all X-factor acts.Lets be truthful here Leona and Alex would never have got recording contracts without the X-factor.The British record industry has never been welcoming to Black acts and that is a fact.I have only supported RATM because Joe's effort The Climb was so poor.

I think Leona should be left alone. She is the only one to come from these shows who can be seen as credible.
December 20, 200915 yr I am a massive fan of both Leona and Alexandra and I would still have backed this campaign had it been done in previous years. The point of the campaign is to stop Cowell dominating the christmas #1, it's not about the individual, it's about a grinch stealing music at christmas with a cheap karaoke knock off, which let's be fair 'A Moment Like This' and 'Hallelujah' are..

That wasn't down to Joe's singing though, it is the fact that the song itself is a pile of $h!te Even if Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Elton John, George Michael, Axl Rose, Ronnie James Dio, Tony Bennett, anyone had sung it it would have sounded $h!t because it is a $h!t song, Joe is very very talented indeed so judging him on the song is wrong
December 20, 200915 yr Alex has been recording for less than a year I am not sure there is any such thing as a credibility time frame. The campaign will just look like bullying if it targets those with vocal ability and the oppurtunity to get ahead.Christmas time fair enough but having an influence on long term careers is just wrong.

What is so special about xmas #1 though ? Would there be this campaign if the X Factor winner's single was released in early Jan ? I doubt it, there just seems to be some elitist attitude to the xmas #1 when infact the xmas #1 has been as dodgy as one of Delboy's watches for decades

I doubt it, there just seems to be some elitist attitude to the xmas #1 when infact the xmas #1 has been as dodgy as one of Delboy's watches for decades Because there has always been a battle for christmas number 1, and Cowell destroyed that. Yes the releases weren't always amazing but there has always been a BATTLE which is gone now. Thats why this campaign has been so damn succesful even if Joe wins, the battle has returned!
December 20, 200915 yr The Spice Girls had a domination on the Xmas #1 too, they had what ? it was either 3 or 4 successive Xmas #1's which is almost X Factor type domination, they would bring out a song regular as clockwork to steal the Xmas #1 and there was no fuss about that They had 3 Christmas #1s and in the third year people who were sick of them being #1 rallied behind the South Park track if I remember correctly so actually you could say that people attempted to spoil it earlier than in these X Factor years. I would say that you can't accurately compare this year to those in the 90s and earlier though, back then the music industry would actually have to release something else on physical single to enable a campaign to begin, often there just wasn't an alternative available for people to rally behind. However, whenever there was an alternative released, there have often been similar campaigns such as Chef/South Park, Mike Flowers Pops, Michael Andrews/Gary Jules, Nizlopi etc - it's just that people couldn't combine their efforts like they can now in the days of regular internet usage.

SUCK ON MY CHOCOLATE SALTY BALLS. That was epic :kink: Can't believe Chef only lost by like 5k :(

I don't understand it; or are your far right wing pro-corporate fat cat views showing at their ugliest? Are you seriously telling me the likes of: "What Do You Want to Make Those Eyes at Me For?"; "Moon River"; "Return to Sender"; "I Want to Hold Your Hand"; "I Feel Fine"; "Day Tripper" / "We Can Work It Out"; "Green Green Grass of Home"; "Hello, Goodbye"; "I Hear You Knocking"; "Merry Xmas Everybody"; "Bohemian Rhapsody"; "Mull of Kintyre" / "Girls' School"; "Mary's Boy Child" / "Oh My Lord"; "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)"; "Don't You Want Me"; "Only You"; "Do They Know It's Christmas?"; "Merry Christmas Everyone"; "Reet Petite"; "Always on My Mind"; "I Will Always Love You"; "Stay Another Day"; "2 Become 1"; "Too Much"; "Goodbye"; "Sound of the Underground" & "Mad World" are not pop classics?
December 20, 200915 yr Co-founder and CEO of 7digital.com, said RATM had enormous sales on 7digital.com yesterday http://twitter.com/bendrury
December 20, 200915 yr Oh and Spice Girls had competition remember? Not like X Factor which already has 200k on its name in 12 hours? It's not as if the Spice Girls didn't EARN their no.1? They did it without media hype?

This very much... Bohemian Rhapsody is probably among the greatest songs of all time, and that was Xmas #1... twice... Also, to a certain extent, I'd say Bob The Builder is a bit of a pop classic. If only for the fact that everyone knows it.
December 20, 200915 yr I just don't see the big deal in a tv show boosting chart sales for artists that appeared in it Was anyone that appeared on Ed Sullivan show in the 60's pretty much assured of a massive boost in sales ? yes Was anyone that appeated on TOTP assured of a sales surge the following week ? yes The likes of Lady Ga Ga going to #1 because of an appearance on X Factor is not a new phenomenon At first I thought someone had hacked your account, or you were on a booze fuelled wind-up, alas, you're just making yourself look stupid. The Christmas No1 should never be reduced to being in the winning package of some over bloated 'talent' show brand. It is an eccentric British custom to have a chart battle for Cowell is CHEATING by using prime product placement in supermarket chains that are only stocking this one single. 'The Climb' is a truly dreadful song and Joe is a consistent, but still average karaoke singer. Many youngsters, in amateur dramatic groups across the country, get up on stage and sing in theatres, without expecting the Christmas No1 as recompense.

I think for the first time in my life I am in complete agreement with Ethan. Must be the spirit of the season.

Westlife would have tried over and over again too I reckon had they not failed second time around with What Makes A Man  after that they probably avoided any xmas week battles to save embarrassment
December 20, 200915 yr If people here know the outcome why on earth can't they just bet the sh!t out of it?! Get yourselves an early christmas. Dammit I would!

Cowell is not forcing any supermarket to stock the X Factor single, he is not preventing competiton and banning sales of other singles in the supermarkets it is the supermarkets themselves that are making the decisions because they are following the money so Cowell isn't cheating, he would be if he banned the supermarkets from selling any other song but he isn't
