December 8, 200915 yr Author This thread shows a very poor example being set to guests visiting this forum along with probably a number of members.(Swearing and personal attacks along with slightly un-PC metaphors that are open to mis-interpretation) Who is the mod for this thread ? If they cannot see anything wrong then maybe it should be referred to an Admin to review ? Will I get blocked for speaking out ? Am I in the minority here ? I just scrolled through and it seems we have 2 mods, 1 Global Mod and an Editor contributions in this thread. me and my big mouth  Nice knowing you all ! Firstly, the 2 mods in this thread (me and grimly) are not mods of the chart forum, so we cant do anything, secondly editors have nothing to do with it, they dont exactly have 'power' per se, they are just our news writers (i dont mean that in poor sense btw, just making the point you dont really need to be the ones setting examples). Anyway, firstly you quoted Slick, he was just backing the point that Bertie was acting like he was mod to Grimly who hadnt actually done anything wrong. And then you quoted me, the quote you showed had what one swear word? i'm sorry that this world is so f***ed up that we arent allowed to say certain words, if people find a couple of words offensive maybe they should get over themseleves there are far worse things in the world to worry about. and as for personal attacks? what did I just go round and punch someone in the face, if people in this forum werent so ignorant to anything that inst highly mainstream or commercial and actually bothered (and have the curtosy) to read other people's replys in the thread, before repeated something that multiple people have already said and then I gave the correct response probaly like 3 times in this thread, on top of other people saying the same, if people just read the first time someone complained about the choice of song and one person replied and told them the point of the choice of song, then they wouldnt have to bother replying, and we wouldnt have to bother replying again and again, it just get's stupid. If we had more intelligent members (i.e ones that can actually read, or ones that dont fail to see the quite obvious choice of using this song over say a Kylie song). I'm a very opinonated person, this is a internet forum, i have the right to say my opinons, and if i want to say words like f*** or $h!t, then i will do so, because i am not a tool to a messed up society where mere words have been unrightfully tabooed.
December 9, 200915 yr That "musically retarded idiot" is called Peter Robinson and he has just has just won a major music industry award for his writing. I'm supposed to be impressed by that....? A journo getting some Industry trinket, please..... I think I just pointed out pretty succinctly that he failed to do any research at all upon the nature of RATM's deal with Epic in the early 90s..... I turned up that quote by Tom Morello very easily indeed by a rudimentary search on Google. He also never even mentioned the fact that singer Zach De La Rocha actually lived and worked with the Zapatista rebels in Mexico, I pretty much think that makes RATM absolutely "4-REAL" my friend and not a bunch of Industry whores like Popjustice and Cowell's puppets..... ANY journalist who fails so utterly to do even the most rudimentary of research into a subject upon which they are writing is not worthy of the name.... The man clearly has no knowledge of RATM's music or their whole ideology and yet has the nerve to think he can write about them without even doing any research into the band, so, yeah, you'd better believe I'll call him musically retarded..... I'll also refer you to what Richard/Thisispop has said about Robinson.... The best music writers are the ones who actually do their homework, and they tend to write about the MUSIC, not puff pieces for the Industry.... That would be people like Lester Bangs, The staff of NME circa mid-80s to mid-90s, etc...... Not that you would probably even know about ANY of this.....
December 9, 200915 yr You know, I really am getting a bit sick fed up of the false prudishness going on in this debate to be honest..... It's really quite bizarre and entirely hypocritical seeing as I'm willing to bet that not A SINGLE ONE OF YOU who are criticising me or Chris has exactly been shy about using choice words in conversations with friends or down the pub, etc..... I view Buzzjack as a bit of a Pub Debate with your mates, it's a more CONVERSATIONAL style; obviously when I'm writing PROPER academic essays or journal articles I'm not gonna use language like this, like DUUHHHH!!! If some people cant handle that, then I'm sorry... But I'm not gonna dumb-down my opinions just to keep some way-too-PC or precious individuals happy..... I think one or two people here need to develop a bit of a thicker skin tbh... You guys really need to get out there and see how people in real life actually talk..... And besides.... In case you hadn't noticed, me and Chris are not actually directing ANY ABUSE AT ALL at individuals on here in the first instance.... It's all been directed towards Cowell or others in the Media...... Why the hell do any of you even care what we say about Cowell, etc....? Do you think that they give a sh"t about any of you lot....? Hell NO...!! They only care about how much money you give them....
December 9, 200915 yr Well, to play Devil's advocate here, they already did release the Best of RATM. It was called Rage Against the Machine and came out in 1992. That's a tad facetious Rich..... :P You know what I mean though.... If Sony actually had the power over RATM that they do over Cowell's puppets, you know as well as I do, there would almost certainly have been a compilation album released to coincide with the reunion....
December 9, 200915 yr I think reintroducing the Hitler comparisons would give this thread a much needed dose of comic relief....

Yep...and I was kidding :) Saw them live at T in the Park last year and they were pretty immense. Finished the set with 'Killing...' and it was pretty special. I just don't think it needs to be bought in bulk for no apparent reason.
December 9, 200915 yr I think reintroducing the Hitler comparisons would give this thread a much needed dose of comic relief....  That was part of the problem for certain individuals mate..... I wasn't half getting the Mary Whitehouse, finger wagging treatment for mentioning Hitler, Stalin and Goebbels.....
December 9, 200915 yr This will never get to #1 anyway, in my opinion. Edited December 9, 200915 yr by Bert for Lashes
December 9, 200915 yr I just don't think it needs to be bought in bulk for no apparent reason. Well, I disagree... I think there IS a reason to release something by a band like RATM to try and stop Cowell, for him it's all about getting the Xmas No 1, it would be good to see him embarrassed by a band like RATM, or, better yet, The Muppets.... "BYOB" by System of a Down would probably have been a good 'un too... And relevant, seeing as how it's all about Iraq/Afghanistan and we're still out there (no sign of troops being "home for Christmas eh..?).... But, like it or not, RATM are probably the better known of the two really....
December 9, 200915 yr This will never get to #1 anyway, in my opinion. The Muppets could though..... :P I dont care either way.... Muppets or RATM.... I've no actual preference... I just want to see the look on Cowell's face when he doesn't get his Xmas No 1 that he seems to think he's entitled to every fukkin' year..... He's worse than sodding Cliff Richard..... :P

I think there IS a reason to release something by a band like RATM to try and stop Cowell, for him it's all about getting the Xmas No 1, it would be good to see him embarrassed by a band like RATM, or, better yet, The Muppets.... But this will never happen... It will fail to make it to number 1, so Cowell will still have the top spot and Sony will make some money on the back of RATM... Wow, what a successful campaign.
December 9, 200915 yr I don't care who is Christmas number 1 - so long as it's not anything to do with X Factor.
December 9, 200915 yr But this will never happen... It will fail to make it to number 1, so Cowell will still have the top spot and Sony will make some money on the back of RATM... Wow, what a successful campaign. Hmmm, notice that you completely fail to address my point about The Muppets.....
December 9, 200915 yr Hmmm, notice that you completely fail to address my point about The Muppets..... Well, in the last few pages I've tried to express my views on things, I don't think I've been offensing anyone whatsoever, but it appears not many people in this thread was willing to understand/accept my point neither were they open to my opinion, so I give up debating with you (it's a shame I come to say this on a chat forum), because whatever I may say, you will always brand me the ignorant one because I have a different opinion on a few topics. So I don't give a damn anymore, good luck with your anti-Cowell propaganda, I don't think it'll do the man any harm anyway.
December 9, 200915 yr And if any, it will only make even more publicity for Simon and his show. This is one of the most pertinent things...what makes records sell better than a media-sponsorted "chart battle"? How many people picked up copies of 'Country House' and 'Wonderwall' they didn't ever want in the first place? I suspect Cowell would be very happy to finish second or even third with the winner's single if it sells another 25% more than projected. To this end, you kinda wonder if he may even be behind the RATM / Muppets releases - how else would an Internet nerd campaign gather so much speed and press attention?
December 9, 200915 yr Love the Si Cowell picture Bert  I've given up here too. Forums are for all sorts of things but mostly for healthy debate. A good debate has no winners. Some people here seem to be obsessed with 'winning' whatever arguement they start. And to Slick and mr self destruct, I was not in the least offended personally. I swear as good as the rest of you but choose not to when it may offend others less broadminded or easily influenced (ie in front of Children). Guests to this Forum may look at a thread like this and decide BJ not for them and thus we miss the oppurtunity to converse with a broad diversity of people. the more members the Forum has the better, surely ? (Whether they swear or not in normal day-to-day life) Back on topic now. I would love to see the Muppets Christmas #1 but also have no problem with it being a SyCo produced 'karaoke' singer.... the public decides and thats what makes the charts such an interesting topic of discussion
December 9, 200915 yr I'm so indifferent to this, I really just ... don't care. :( I mean I do get fed up of X Factor being #01 each year, it ruins the Xmas #01 thing which we haven't truly had since Gary Jules/Darkness/Idols/Sugababes/Atomic Kitten etc. imo. But then, it is pretty pointless unless they are just going for Top 10 which I suppose isn't a bad feat and will show Simon they are against X Factor winning each year ... but then again we know X Factor will come out on top no matter what and Simon isn't looking likely to stop the X Factor being released on xmas day either seeing as it's just growing in popularity each year. So yeah, ultimately it is kind of pointless. Dunno if I made much sense there :/. Oh and I'm with Grami, I'd be more for it if it was a decent song. :kink: *Hides*
December 9, 200915 yr Listened to the RATM song - What a load of old $h!t  It amazes me that people will waste their money downloading this surely you're all not that deluded to think it will beat the XF winners song?
