A 17-year-old from Indiana accused of killing his 10-year-old brother told prosecutors he had fantasized since the eighth grade about beating someone to death and modeled himself after a television serial killer, Ohio County prosecutors said.

 

Andrew Conley told investigators he spent 20 minutes choking his brother, Conner, after they wrestled and had also planned to kill his father.

Prosecutor Aaron Negangard bluntly assessed the teen: "He’s a cold-blooded murderer," he said.

 

Negangard, prosecutor for Dearborn and Ohio counties, said Thursday that charges against Andrew Conley were upgraded to murder and that he will be tried as an adult. He is not eligible for the death penalty because of his age but could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

 

Details of the case chilled even veteran law enforcement officials in southeast Indiana.

 

"He spoke with no emotion, no remorse, in describing the death of his brother,"

Negangard said of Andrew Conley. "This was a deliberate murder."

 

With both of their parents at work Saturday night,the boys were alone in their rural Ohio County home. Andrew Conley put his younger brother in a headlock, causing Conner to lose consciousness. He told police that Conner’s last words were, "Andrew, stop."

 

Then Andrew dragged his brother, barely breathing, into the kitchen, retrieved a pair of gloves from the living room and returned to choke him with both hands – for about 20 minutes – until the boy bled from the mouth and nose.

 

Andrew took a plastic bag from a kitchen drawer, put it over Conner’s head and secured it with black electrical tape at the neck. He dragged his brother’s body by the feet down the basement steps and outside to his car. Before Andrew put his brother’s body in the trunk, he struck Conner’s head against the ground several times, he told police.

 

In early interviews with police, according to court documents, Andrew said he then drove to Rising Sun City Park, near the elementary school where Conner was in the fifth grade, and dumped the body in a wooded area, slightly concealing it with vegetation. The body was found Sunday night.

 

Prosecutors say Conley confessed to police that he intentionally strangled his brother while they were wrestling at the family home on Sunday. They say Andrew Conley told investigators he had dreamed of killing someone since he was in eighth grade.

 

If convicted of murder, Conley could be sentenced to up to 65 years in prison.

 

The parents had pulled Andrew Conley out of Rising Sun High School on Nov. 16 — 12 days before prosecutors said he strangled his younger brother, said Stephen Patz, the superintendent of Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Schools.

 

Patz declined to state the reasons for the withdrawal, but said both Conley brothers were decent students.

 

"Andrew was a good student, he had friends, he didn't have discipline problems. And the same thing for Conner," he said. "I think that's what makes it difficult for the community, the staff, the students, everyone, to try and come to grips with the situation."

 

According to prosecutors, Andrew Conley showed no remorse when he described to investigators how he choked his younger brother, saying he strangled the boy to satisfy a craving like a hungry person eating a hamburger.

 

He told police his brother's last words were "Andrew, stop,"according to a probable cause affidavit. Conley said he dumped the body near a park in the Ohio River community of about 2,500 residents, 90 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

 

Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard said Thursday that the nature of the crime shows that "sometimes people are just evil."

That fukkin' little re**** trying to claim at TV show "made" him kill his own brother... YEAH RIGHT!!!! If he did model himself of Dexter, then he'd've gone out and killed a CRIMINAL or a GANGSTER... Which is what Dexter actually does in the show... Dexter is a VIGILANTE, a serial killer who kills criminals who get away with their crimes..... <_< This putrid little fukk is clearly trying to take responsibility away from himself by coming up with a ludicrous defence.... Well, you know, if he has the intellectual capacity to come up with this fanciful defence as an excuse for his actions, then he has the intellectual capacity to recognise right from wrong.....
