January 25, 201015 yr Do you have short term memory loss you told that joke yesterday and it was not funny then either-maybe get better material. She can shift more albums in Broken Heels which is doing just that.
January 25, 201015 yr I still think she can do better with The Silence. Her album seems to besticking around unlike Leona's and she is now outselling JLS after their over inflated Christmas period.
January 25, 201015 yr The Silence is a beautiful ballad but I am not sure if it is definately the next single or if ballads are really radio friendly.Happy was a huge ballad and people seemed to be put off by it and I am not sure if the buying public really takes to them anymore.Plus Broken Heels is managing to shift copies of Overcome so it is possible she may release another uptempo song.

I thought The Silence had been confirmed? Happy never sold well as it was the most dreary piece of music Leona has ever recorded. The Silence is the type of ballad that got Alexandra votes on X Factor. Releasing another uptempo would be a mistake.

Get some life experience and then you will know how relevant, powerful and frankly fecking amazing Happy actually is. The peak/sales of Happy don't reflect the quality of the song, it reflects the stupidity of the music-buying GBP. My opinion of course.
January 25, 201015 yr Shame it's only peaked at #8 and it's started falling on iTunes. Great song. As for talk on 'The Silence' as the next single, I think it would be an amazing choice. Perfect for slowing it down after two up-tempo tunes. Also, before 'Broken Heels' was announced a single, 'The Silence' was the only album track from 'Overcome' to be in the iTunes top 1000; it was around the #800 mark.
January 25, 201015 yr TS is the sort of ballad that will get radio play, since it's quite a radio friendly song, in same vain vain as Bleeding Love/Battlefield etc
January 25, 201015 yr Why is it that the general consensus is that ballads sell albums more than uptempos? I've never understood that :s Edited January 25, 201015 yr by Sinful
January 25, 201015 yr I think it is that supposedly most album buyers are middle aged and they are more taken with mid-tempo and slow songs.Hence the success of Susan Boyle, Michael Buble, Queen and Rod Stewart in recent abum charts. It is such a great song though even lyrically. I hope if they release it is late April and Alex has a different look.
January 25, 201015 yr Why is it that the general consensus is that ballads sell albums more than uptempos? I've never understood that :s Ballads appeal to a more mature audience (ie older). Older people are less likely to download 1 song for 29-99p and more likely to go out and get a full album. The ballad may well die out completely when the current generation of young people grow up. The ballad may well die out completely when the current generation of young people grow up. I don't think so. It's a very valid point you make but it's also slightly stereotypical even if there is a bit of truth. I'm verging on 16 and prefer ballads to uptempos due to the connection. I guess generally teenagers will buy Iyaz, NDubz up-tempo sort of stuff but i think ballads will always be mainstream. But are ballads selling well anymore and getting alot or radio airplay? Of course they are. The Silence is actually the sort of ballad i can hear smashing on radio. The chorus is radio friendly, it's got a good melody and it's produced by RedOne. Radio will love it  Edited January 25, 201015 yr by SIX
January 26, 201015 yr the royally fu***d up the broken heels campaign and putting back the date made no sense at all didn't it sell nearly 100,000 before it was even released !!! does anyone know the total sales so far ?
January 27, 201015 yr I think we should just be happy that it still got Top Ten and most importantly shifted Overcome from 32 to 20 which was vital.Just be pleased that with Alex's European promotion she has started to make some headway with Badboys. If you have time please vote for Badboys- http://www.brits.co.uk/voting
