I don't think I've ever heard about other countries having such a hype over a No 1 at Christmas. Even America's Billboard Chart. How does the Christmas charts grip this country. It's the same with TV too buy having bog shows at Chirstmas time.

With other countries, Is there any other seasonal charts that interest them?

It does seem to be strictly a UK thing. Quite frankly it's over-rated, and this current "battle" is so inconsequential, yet the way some go on about it, Lordy.

if you have a xmas #1 in the UK you basically go down in the history books and get played on music channel 'xmas #1 countdowns' for years to come

nothing would be more hilarious than seeing Bliss or something playing RATM in their yearly countdown

Christmas week has traditionally always seen the biggest sales of singles. This goes back to well before the download era. Therefore, the Christmas number one is bound to have pretty high overall sales. I don't know whether Christmas week sales are as high elsewhere.
^They are in the US, sales are at their peak during Christmas week but that isn't because people care about the charts... Alot of people get itunes giftcards for xmas, hence the sales increase

I'm so waiting for Sunday and to end this nightmare week. Because of the X Factor winner's song and the campaign against it it's really difficult to manage everything here on the forum.

BTW I don't think people care so much about the Xmas chart in other countries, but I haven't seen it everywhere else either that a Talent show's winner took the Xmas number 1 for years and years.

Poland is the country I come from and to be honest no-one really even talks about charts there. I don't even think Poland has got an official chart. As far as I know there's an airplay chart only. Really it's doesn't mean anything... Lots of massive acts like MJ, Madonna, Beyonce etc never had any Xmas number 1s. It's a shame though, because lame songs usually go to number 1 at xmas.
