I never heard 'Stolen Dance' in the contest as it was in the opposite semi so I have an excuse ~ I am definitely guilty of liking songs more when they become hits than when they're in the contest but I think that's just down to hearing them more so they have a chance to grow, I generally only give multiple (as in more than like 2/3) listens in BJSC to my absolute faves. That said, I really liked 'Am I Wrong' to begin with (gave it like 8 points in the semi IIRC!) but even then I'm only about to enter it into my personal chart now. Other stuff like DVBBS/FAUL/Oliver Heldens I did chart during the contests but they only reached their peak on their UK release. So yeah, basically I'm super guilty of this. A commercial hoe is me.

 

I have no idea what happened with 'Royals' though as in BJSC I just thought it was fairly good (I gave it 1 point) but when I 'rediscovered' it by hearing it on the radio a little while later it instantly clicked way, way more than it ever did in the contest.

i'm guilty of that but mostly cos i like so many bjsc entries every month that i try to limit it down so i dont look like a rite chart saddo, altho if ur song was the best of the best in the FIRST PLACE!!! it would've made it ~

I'm quite glad I'm not the only one who does this.

 

There's actually been only a couple of times where I've really changed my opinion from BJSC to hit status and it was mainly in my early days with the likes of Little Talks - and I still liked that more than most at the time. Am I Wrong, Gecko and Jubel are still very average, always loved Changes, Tsunami and Stolen Dance (although yes, only just entering that into my chart now). The Mother We Share (and my opinion on CHVRCHES in general) is the biggest turnaround from big indifference to love that I can think of right now.

This is certainly not a new trend :( I got caught out in TBO with the Lily Allen demo 'I Don't Know' that become 'The Fear' about two weeks later and was #1 on about everyone's personal charts. Luckily it came 2nd in it's actual contest so it wasn't quite a massive flop as some of these have been but it's TBO performance was probably one of the earliest examples of things that would have performed remarkably better after it's UK release.

I don't even remember Royals being in the contest. :lol:

This is almost done. Just need to do the November contest and then update the alphabetical list. The reformatting is where it takes CENTURIES, but I'm going to implement a better way of doing this so it'll be updated straight after each contest. Nu year nu me. :o

I'm in the middle of updating it, hence the invisibility. All songs are there under their respective contests, so if you could use Ctrl+F for now then that would be fab! :D

There's now an up-to-date alphabetical list of all songs from the main contest. Took me about seventeen years because the board rules don't allow posts to go over a certain amount of characters, so after trying every possible way to cheat the system I decided to split it over two posts which I wanted to avoid but I had no choice. :cry: The spin-off list is in the spin-off forum CRC which I will be tackling next week. Hurrah.

 

The only thing to do now is input the semifinal places for the finalists in LXX. Can't complete that fully until Lee posts his scoreboard from the last contest. :D

Lee did post the scoreboard, just not the spreadsheet.

LXXI is fully updated now - apologies for the delay on the semi results! Some of the deductions seemed a bit odd - any clarification on this Math? :D Any errors on my part, please let me know!

 

Also, we've decided to get rid of the alphabetical list as it's rather pointless when you can use the search function yourself (plus it's taking up a ton of space). I'll keep it here for now but will probably cut it out soon if that's OK with everyone?

Thanks Cal! Just a little something, we discovered at the end of the final results thread that it seems Listenbee ended up with 117 points in semi one and Ulf with 113 points as Florina's votes had been added in wrong.
