To be fair, that isn't what they said. It is a compliment to Alexandra/Leona that they are such bankable stars. I think the point was that Will Young and Girls Aloud were more of a risk, neither were the favourite in their respective shows and both took time to get a very unique sound. When Leona won there was no doubting that she was going to sell massive amounts.

 

What utter rubbish, it was clear from early on that Alex was vocally and performance wise the winner then and now of X-factor.Just because JLS have sold more albums than her(she has sold more singles), Cheryl and Leona just means that they have filled a gap in the market for a boyband.The duet they performed on the X-factor final just proved that she was the right winner.Short term success for JLS is guarnteed but long term Alex will have the real career.

This JLS should have been the winner crap is really annoying is the poster who first stated that louie walsh in disguise because we know he liked to mention that all year. JLS are not the real winners they lost in votes plain and simple. On the X Factor final Alex made them look like back up dancers and singers and wiped them off the stage. Yeh they may have sold more albums but when they are in a market with no competitors and Alex has at least ten strong competitors they really cannot be compared. Plus Alex has really set herself up to be a singles artist which proves people outside her fan base enjoyed bad boys they probably just need to see the mire diverse side of her and not just up tempos to buy the album and I think 'The Silence' may do that.

 

JLS are clearly just striking while the iron is hot they are rush releasing a new album in November and have two tours next year, not exactly developing as artists are they? Good luck to them though enjoy it while it lasts before they become z listers on I'm a celeb.

I think that first of all artists should record these songs that which will be liked to the people, and judging by the sales of her single and album people don't like it so much as the first album.

 

Well it's clear you are pro-commercialism. This is why i very much dislike the Sugababes atm. People who only make the sort of music that is loved by the masses are not artists, they are pawns in the music industry. I'm glad Leona hasn't gone with the 'sound of 2009' and as instead shown her individuality.

 

Your last comment is very ignorant/silly (and before anyone moans, i'm not calling you ignorant). Leona's first single/album sold extremely well because of the hype/exposure surrounding them. If you were expecting Happy and Echo to match those ridiculously high sales, then you are truly an optimist. If anything, many people who bought Spirit didn't buy Echo due to their thoughts on Spirit - which is inferior to Echo imo.

Exactly. Echo is more cohesive than Spirit and is far more edgy too. Spirit, as you said, only had a few great songs on there (Imo: Bleeding Love, BIT, Homeless, FITS) while Echo has far more (Happy, I Got You, OMH, Brave, My Hands, SCYHO and there are probably some growers too) and is also more diverse.

Very true about the big sales = success but critical acclaim is more of an achievement. Little Boots isn't my cup of tea but she is critically successful even if she isn't commercially. I wouldn't trust the music taste of the GBP since we have had a lot of dire number ones this year. I'm sure you would prefer Leona to stick to her strengths and walk from her weaknesses than turn into a GaGa clone or a female version of Dizzee Rascal. :lol:

I honestly don't hate them as people they are nice guys, I think dissapointed is more the word I would use. I expected so much more from them after x factor, now all they appeal to is little girls who are inti cheesy music. I find it very difficult to enjoy the music they have released.

 

I think the I'm a Celeb comment is fair, blue and even take that members have done those type if shows so I'm pretty sure JLS will be on them in time if they don't drastically change their musical direction.
