December 22, 200915 yr The Brits are awful, they mean nothing imo I hate how people make out that they are huge. THIS. A while ago I used to respect the BRITS but now I think it's all one massive joke
December 22, 200915 yr I wish they would bring back the award for best international breakthrough act.Lady gaga would be a shoo-in for that.
December 22, 200915 yr I wish they would bring back the award for best international breakthrough act.Lady gaga would be a shoo-in for that. One word for why that category got scrapped. Orson. :puke2:
December 27, 200915 yr Author whether you like it or not the brits are really important and most british artists want to win or be nominated Edited December 27, 200915 yr by troylovesmusic
December 27, 200915 yr whether you like it or not the brits are really important and most british artists want to win or be nominated I'm afraid I have to disagree. The Brits mean didly-squat at all to music appreciation. They're the mirror image of TV s'Inside Soap' awards. Norma
December 28, 200915 yr Well, it's the most hyped awarding music ceremony of the year, so of course it is important IMO. And anyway we always get some cool performances, so what's wrong with that :)

December 28, 200915 yr Hmmm... I'm now debating as to whether Jamie T will be included or not in the best male category & maybe Biffy Clyro in the best group category?
December 28, 200915 yr Hmmm... I'm now debating as to whether Jamie T will be included or not in the best male category & maybe Biffy Clyro in the best group category? Well they did nominate Jamie T in 2007 when they could have just as easily nominated Calvin Harris or Dizzee Rascal so that could be the wild card. I for some reason think that they will nominate either Mumford and Sons, White Lies or The Noisettes in British Breakthrough
December 29, 200915 yr Author aint la roux and florence and the machine both groups so they cant be nominated for best british female
December 29, 200915 yr aint la roux and florence and the machine both groups so they cant be nominated for best british femaleLa Roux is a group but Florence I believe is classed as a solo artist... but like Seejayjee just said, The Streets won Best British Male once, so anything can happen :heehee:
December 29, 200915 yr We know: Lifetime Achievement Award: Robbie Williams Critics' Choice Award: Ellie Goulding PREDICTIONS (Underlined who I think will win; Italics who I think deserves to win - not necessarily my favourite act) : Best British Male: - Dizzee Rascal - Paolo Nutini - Taio Cruz - Tinchy Stryder - Robbie Williams Best British Female: - Alexandra Burke - Cheryl Cole - Florence + The Machine - Lily Allen - Pixie Lott * I'm assuming La Roux is categorised as a group not a solo act; and Florence + The Machine is a solo artist like The Streets (and hopefully Marina & The Diamonds at the 2011 BRIT nominations) Best British Breakthrough (Voted for by listeners to Radio 1): - Florence + The Machine - JLS - La Roux - Pixie Lott - Tinchy Stryder Best British Single (Voted for by readers of The Sun and listeners of local UK radio stations): - Alexandra Burke - Bad Boys - Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love - Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers - JLS - Beat Again - Joe McElderry - The Climb - La Roux - In For The Kill - Lily Allen - The Fear - Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm - Tinchy Stryder ft N-Dubz - Number 1 - X Factor Finalists - You Are Not Alone Best British Album: - Florence + The Machine - Lungs - JLS - JLS  - Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum - La Roux - La Roux - Muse - The Resistance Best British Group: - JLS - Kasabian - La Roux - Muse - Prodigy Best International Male: - Akon - Eminem - Jay Z - Michael Buble - Michael Jackson (I'm assuming new material on This Is It album makes him eligible) Best International Female: - Kelly Clarkson - Lady GaGa - Rihanna - Shakira - Taylor Swift Best International Group: Animal Collective (aka this year's who the feck are Arcade Fire nomination) Black Eyed Peas Green Day U2 Yeah Yeah Yeahs Best International Album: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion Black Eyed Peas - The END Eminem - Relapse Lady GaGa - The Fame Michael Buble - Crazy Love British Live: (Voted for by listeners of BBC Radio 2 and the general public via the Brit Awards website) Dizzee Rascal Kasabian Muse Prodigy Take That Cue: The day after the nominations are announced Simon Cowell slams the BRIT awards as a joke not representing the British public true tastes due to the snubbing of Susan Boyle & Leona Lewis; and the minimal amount of nominations for Alexandra Burke & Cheryl Cole.
December 29, 200915 yr I really doubt Animal Collective will get nominated... I'm sure a lot people said that about ..... 2009 Seasick Steve 2008 Rufus Wainwright; Bats For Lashes 2007 Cat Power 2006 Arcade Fire, Kano etc....
