I could be partying with the Queen :P

Lizzie and Co will be at Balmoral in August. :P

Evening :smoke:

Just finished watching The Oscars - a pretty bland evening. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were dissapointing hosts, well from the 90 minute highlights show I saw they were. Overall it could'nt have been any more predictable...still pleased with most of the results though :D

I do miss Jack Nicholson's annual appearance - he even has his own seat - this is the second or third year running he has not showed up. :(

yeah

There's one there that looks like a xmas decoration

Vera Farmiga

I like the Xmas decoration dress :w00t: Although it would be difficult to go to the loo wearing it

I was glad to see Christoph Waltz winning for the scary Nazi

I haven't seen any of the other winning performances

What did you think of The Lovley Bones Jups? Rubbish or unfairly bashed?

Jeff Bridges's performance in 'Crazy Heart' is remarkable and he is such an underrated actor so it is great to see him win :drink:

The Lovely Bones was much as I expected. Except for the 95% of the storyline missing from the book. :smoke:

Haven't seen Crazy Heart. He should have won for the Big Lebowski imo. -_-

Those in the know are saying Colin Firth gave a better performance but Jeff was always going to win due to Hollywood sentiment.

Havent seen 'A Single Man' so not sure about Colin Firth - although he won the Bafta - it's all to do with politics really. Im not a big fan of him as an actor though in general.

So you didn't enjoy the Loveley Bones then? I was under the impressiont he film added in loads of stuff not int he book - it is usually the opposite with loads missing

I loved Stanley Tucci's performance though - especially the scene in the house where Salmon's sister breaks in - great suspence :D

No. There was loads missing! Like the fact the mammy and the detective were bonking!

Meryl Streep must get sick of being nominated annually - Stanley Tucci even said he is organising the Academy put a cap of 16 nominations so she can't be nominated again

Glad Sandy won Best Actress though - I've always liked her - seems like such a nice person - and she won 'Worst Actress' at the Razzies the night before for a different film - and actually turned up to accept it

Seriously? That is just silly, glad it wasnt in the film. Although I did think it was poorly done when the mother just left without any explanation and also - Susan Surrandon seemed totally out of place - it turned into a comedy for about 2 minutes for some reason. Also the ending was not satisfying especailly after such suspence in the house - although a friend of mine who had read the book said the ending if if a bit silly was still more satisfying than the book where he just vanished - what did you think?

He didn't just vanish in the book. He got hit on the head by an icicle and fell into the gully and died. Just like in the film.

And the mammy didn't leave for California until well into the book. And she came back after daddy had his heart attack (which they missed out too). And the kids hated her when she came back (which wasn't until years later).
