Posted December 24, 200915 yr On Eastenders apparently Archie is being murdered.....and I'm just after seeing an advert for Emmerdale with people being splattered with blood and knife thrusts......not heard about Corrie but I wouldn't be surprised if someone drove their car into a river again... Is it because people are so merry they need to bring it down to a safe level by killing someone in the most grisly and dramatic way possible? :o Seriously if I was in soapland I'd be dead scared of every christmas because someone's going to die. :P Edited December 25, 200915 yr by Sabrewulf238
December 25, 200915 yr because they cant think of anything more original to attract viewers attention.
December 25, 200915 yr its an adoptation of the traditional 'whodunnit', at one time youd have 'miss marple' or something similar probably set on a european train or boat on an african river.. i guess its ok... i dont mind.
December 26, 200915 yr The audinece love that kinda stuff and i think part of it is also about to remind people how good their own chrismtas actually is, i enojoyed the killing of archie in eastenders, we all like soaps to provide us with drama especially for xmas as we all have the chance to sit down and watch the shows properly.
December 26, 200915 yr Hardly! Eastenders is on top form at the minute whereas the only thing that's had people talking about Corrie recently is Tony, and they know it which is why they made that storyline last forever.

Coronation Street is tedious atm, never said anything about it being better than Eastenders.
December 26, 200915 yr Overall its being a fantastic 2 years for eastenders they have being on top form consutanlt with brilliant storylines. Im a little worried about diedrick santer stepping down as he done fantastic work on eastnders with the assistance of people like the fantastic simon ashdown.
December 26, 200915 yr ...because the only reason soaps exist are to reassure us that someone elses life is worse than yours, particularly at Christmas. Killing someone off does, infact, reaffirm your hopes that your Christmas isn't the worst one about.
December 27, 200915 yr This is why I love Hollyoaks at Christmas time. It's far more realistic and only focuses on family troubles, without going OTT. For example, i've just finished watching the omnibus, and I loved the fact that it all ended where everyone did the right thing, and nobody was murdered or anything. Hollyoaks is really underrated at Christmas and it's nice to see a normal Christmas episode of a soap, with all the drama, without it going OTT. (If you get what I mean )
December 27, 200915 yr Calvin got shot last week as well, although it does occur six months in the future.
