March 23, 201015 yr I understand how Jedward got number 1 and are still holding up high, a friend of mine works in x tra vision where i live and he told me the phyisicals for Jedward are flying out the door, they have to keep re ordering it as its selling out the whole time, at €4.95 which is i tink is very expensive for 1 song and an instrumental i didnt think it would sell that well but kids are obviously huge into them. I didnt see any Boyzone cd single in xtra vision but then again i didnt look hard, jedward was different as it was on the counter, but i think xtra vision only stock kinda one off speciel cd singles because recently jedward and helping haiti are the only cd singles i saw in stock. it must be children then <_<

Boyzone slip back to No2 with ‘Gave It All Away’, ahead of Rihanna’s ‘Rude Boy’ (up one place to No3) and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry Eyed’ (up three places to No4). Mumford & Sons move up twelve places from No22 to No10 with their second Irish hit ‘The Cave’, outperforming their debut ‘Little Lion Man’ which hits a new peak this week at No19 after 22 weeks in the Top 40. Dublin twins Heathers are the highest climbers in this week’s chart, soaring 14 places from No35 to No21 with ‘Remember When’, from their debut album ‘Here, Not There’. In a quiet week for new releases the only new entry comes from the Glee Cast with their twelfth hit ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ at No29. ‘Glee - The Music: Vol 2’ repeats the No1 success of the first volume, replacing Boyzone at the top as ‘Brother’ drops to No2. There are two new entries in this week’s chart: Laura Marling at No13 with ‘I Speak Because I Can’ and Goldfrapp at No17 with ‘Head First’. For Laura Marling, this is her first showing in the Top 40 - her debut ‘Alas I Cannot Swim’ has yet to chart - but for Goldfrapp it’s four out of five. ‘Black Cherry’, ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Seventh Tree’ all debuted in the Top 30, the first album ‘Felt Mountain’ the only one to miss out on a chart placing. Nothing imediately springs to mind (unless Jedward shock us all again! :lol: ) I can see Niamh Kavanagh returning soon as the video seems to have been released. It should be up near the top by the time Eurovision comes around though that's still a month and a half away
March 26, 201015 yr Author Is there no end to the singles from the cast of Glee? That's 21 in just 15 weeks. And Journey's version of Don't Stop Believin' is now only 5 weeks away from making it a nice round 100 weeks on the Top 50.... It's now well ahead of Galway Girl which managed 92 weeks if you combine the Steve Earle version with the Mundy version - the former managed 83 weeks, the latter 9 weeks.

American duo Chiddy Bang is the only newcomer to the Top 10 with ‘Opposite Of Adults’ which moves from No13 to No10 after a steady 4-week climb up the rankings. The highest new entry of the week comes from Timbaland at No19 with ‘Carry Out’ (feat. Justin Timbalake) – he now has two concurrent Top 20 hits, with ‘If We Ever Meet Again’ (feat. Katy Perry) up from No7 to No5. Two brand new releases chart just outside this week’s Top 30: Scouting For Girls ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ at No34 and Plan B’s ‘She Said’ at No35. This week’s Album Chart sees even fewer changes than the Singles, with ‘Glee - The Music: Vol 2’ holding at No1 while the rest of the Top 10 shuffle positions behind it. The highest new entry is at No36 for ex-Turn frontman Oliver Cole with his first solo release ‘We Albatri’, while Dublin’s Redneck Manifesto follow close behind with their fourth album ‘Friendship’ new at No39 – their first full-length album in seven years and their first ever appearance in the Irish Charts (2004’s ‘I Am Brazil’ just missed out on a placing). Shaky Fan's Commentary No surprises on the compilation chart where Now 75 goes straight in at the top. What is slightly surprising is the performance of its predecessor Now 74 which spent its 1st 18 weeks within the Top 4 before plummeting 14 places this week to 18. Riverdance is listed on the compilation chart as a NEW entry. I am assuming this is the original music from Riverdance collection that charted in the 90s (its on the same label) so I have classed it as a RE-entry. While it isn't that unusual to see a single or album staying for 3 weeks in the same position (outside the Top 3) Taylor Swift's current run is quite amazing she now enjoys a 5th consecutive week at number 23 on the album chart. On the singles chart Jedward are holding out quite well in comparison with their UK run as they spend a 9th week inside the Top 10. Finally album chart fans might like to look out for a new thread looking at the Irish album charts of the 90s. Back then I used to write the charts as they were broadcast on RTE radio each weekend. In September 1990 the format of the show changed from a 2 hour programme counting through the Top 30 singles to a 2 part programme counting down the Top 20 albums in the 1st hour and the singles in the 2nd.
