I didn't post in here but in December 2008 I posted the Hitstastic Top 100 Singles (2004-2008) which was to commemorate five years of my personal chart. I've still got every spreadsheet per year since 2004 saved on a cd and compiled this chart from all the data over the five years. It also meant songs that crossed over two years benefitted unlike end of year charts where they don't make much impact.

I've already added the data from 2009 onto the overall spreadsheet but I might post that chart here sometime soon. I don't want to have an overload of different charts all at once. I'm sure eventually there'll be a right time to post it (maybe December 2013 to commemorate 10 years?).

You are way more organised than me! :o My chart started in March 2006 and the rest is kind of backdated. Took me ages to cut doen all the singles I loved to just 100. As for the right time to post your chart, then whenever would be great to see - there isn't rreally a huge overload right now as most people seem to have staggered when they have done their YTDs and Decade charts :D

26 Melanie C & Lisa Left Eye Lopes – Never Be The Same Again (2000)

27 Sugababes – Push The Button (2005)

28 Gnarls Barkley – Crazy (2006)

29 Girls Aloud – No Good Advice (2003)

30 Hear’Say – Show Me The Way To Your Love (2001)

Ok, I adore Hear'says Show Me The Way To Your Love - for me it is one of the best pure pop songs of the decade and it holds so many memories (along with a bunch of other songs higher up in this countdown) from Summer 2001 which I think so far was the time of my life. Moving on, No Good Advice is simply brilliant and was robbed of #1 by R Kelly. Crazy still sounds brilliant, and Push The Button (the best Sugababes song ever!) and Never Be The Same Again still sound amazing as well. Mel C really was the only decent solo Spice.

21 The Killers – Mr Brightside (2004)

22 Coldplay – Speed Of Sound (2005)

23 Keane – Everybody’s Changing (2004)

24 Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love (2007)

25 Portishead – The Rip (2008)

Mr Brightside is a grower - I preferred Somebody Told Me more back in the day but it is now quite rightly a noughties classic. Speed Of Sound is one of the best tracks on one of the best albums of the deacde, so nuff said there, Everybody's Changing is Keane's best too imo, Bleeding Love is the best song to come from an X factor winner by a mile and The Rip is a huge return to form from one of my favourite bands ever. Phew!

20 The Feeling – Never Be Lonely (2006)

19 Take That – Rule The World (2007)

I was obsessed with Never Be Lonely back in 2006, and this lovely little slice of summer still does it for me! 10 (or even 5) years ago, I would never have thought that not only would Take That reform, but they would release their best song ever. Shocker!

18 Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (2006)

17 Gorillaz - DARE (2005)

Chasing Cars was recently voted the song of the decade - I wouldn't quite go that far personally, but it remains the best song of 2006 for me. DARE is just brilliant. End of.

16 Will Young – Leave Right Now (2003)

15 Girls Aloud – Biology (2005)

2 perfect examples of what happens when TV talent shows go right here! Will went from strength to strength after winning Pop Idol and Girls Aloud, backed by the brillliant Xenomania are still a force to be reckoned with.

14 Coldplay - Trouble (2000)

13 Basement Jaxx - Romeo (2001)

When I heard Trouble in Virgin Megastores ahead of the release of Parachutes, I was totally blown away and my obsession began! Romeo is a superb dance song and harks back to the golden summer of 2001.

12 Gorillaz – 19/2000 (Soulchild mix) (2001)

11 All Saints – Pure Shores (2000)

After Clint Eastwood, I wasn't sure that the Gorillaz could do any better and then I heard the Soulchild remix of 19/2000 and was proven wrong in the nicest possible way! Pure Shores is the All Saints at their height imo, just a shame the film Pure Shores was from was so crap.

10. Goldfrapp - A&E (2008)

The first single from the wonderfully pastoral Seventh Tree and Goldfrapp at their best.

9. Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor (2005)

The freshest debut of the 00s and the best since Oasis imo. The Artics managed to catch a moment in time perfectly and they kick started the Guitar invasion of the charts in 2005.

8. Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head (2001)

Kylie sealed her 00s comeback with this, one of the biggest selling singles of the deacde and what has now become her classic song.

7. Roger Sanchez – Another Chance (2001)

This song means alot to me personally as it was around in one of the happiest times of my life. It is also a superb dance track and one of the best and most pleasantly surprising #1s of the decade.

1. Coldplay - Viva La Vida (2008)

I would say Coldplay were my band of the 00s and they released their best ever track (and only UK & US #1) 8 years after their debut.
